to be fair, Ichibei never did want to lose. In the can't fear your own world light novel, he did say to Kyoraku that he didn't think that they would win as he planned to use either Yhwach as the Soul King and or Ichigo. But he did tell Kyoraku that he is glad they didn't need to use as the new Soul King. So the "Zero squad are weak", is bs in the manga and anime is bs, cause they never meant to win including Ichigo and the others

The problem is people consider when a power is not flashy to mean "lackluster" which is a sad truth of Fandom these days. If you objectively look at what his bankai can do it's clear as day it is far from lackluster. He litterally has a bankai so powerful that it COMPLETELY wipes you from existence itself as in no reincarnation or Hell just nothing. Anybody who isn't Ywach would be toast against it since it derives is power from the very concept of the color Black itself.

Bleach is so foolish with the power scaling. Apparently, Aizen from the Espada Arc would’ve beaten the Zero Squad too because Kyoka Suigestu is the ultimate trump card no matter what.

The manga never showed how he lost it, and it only said he got it back because the 1000 years of recovering his powers had finally finished during that fight. The anime actually showed Ichibe sealing it, so hopefully it explains further how he regained it.

@@frzlrd spoilers Ichibei talked to Kyoraku about Ichigo in the light novel of can't fear your own world that Ichibei did not expect them to win against Yhwach, as he planned on making Yhwach as the Soul King. If anything came to worse, both of Kyoraku and Ichibei planned on having Ichigo as the Soul King which is why he did that training in the first place. It was said in the interview that everything of which you saw and will see in the anime, Kubo had already planned out, but he was with a bad health and with no time to flesh out his ideas. But now the anime is here, the team will do what Kubo wants/wanted to do cause there's no time or health restrictions. But he already planned for this. So when Ichibei and Kyoraku talked about that, both were happy that Ichigo was not the Soul King as both like Ichigo

spoilers but not really the zero squad can't die so long as there is one member alive. Ichibei told Ichigo to call his name and he came back, this is why the other members are alive as well after the blood war

well. It's an anime, you know they don't really pay attention to that as the character wants to show he is stronger for making the Quincy king an ant

@soul8648 yeah true. At least he didn't pick flea. They just float around and any impact would likely send him bouncing. I would have simply stated "Your body is repelled by this planets gravity." Would have been funny. Yhwach would have to constantly fight to stay on the planet at all. He might even be pulled right off the planet by the gravity of the sun. I don't really know how completely changing local gravity would work. Technically I believe we are held here by our planets local gravity. So if we lose that I'm pretty sure we just expire in a violent and instantaneous ripping away from the planet. I'm mostly disappointed because I wanted to see that kind of conceptual power used better. This guy could really screw people and he wouldn't even have to move to do it if he really considered it. Imagine if he rewrote someone's blood so that it no longer bonds with oxygen...
