Ichthyosaurs were the ¨cetaceans¨ of the time of Dinosaurs. Their name literally means fish-reptile, and rightfully so, since after the Permian extinction, they rapidly evolved from some land reptile into highly specialized marine giants. They were very prolific from the Triassic to the Jurassic, starting to fade out during the Cretaceous

CORRECTIONS: 0:42 Mixosaurus is not an Hupesuchian, but an evolutionary middle point between primitive and more advanced Ichthyosaurs . 1:22 Kyhytysuka* , 1:47 Guizhouichthyosaurus* Here is the choice of the Members for this month! Let me know in the comments what do you think of these animals. did you know them all? I'm glad that you covered this group, because I feel like most people don't appreciate them and their diversity as much as other marine reptiles. I'll admit that I didn't know some of the genera showcased here. Also props for the little showcase of the live birth of ichthyosaurs.

2:39 i love how you reconstructed Shonisaurus with large teeth. In 2017 paper, it was concluded that Shonisaurus was a macropredatory instead of gentle suction-feeding giant thanks to its sharp, conical teeth and strong dental apparatus. It's basically triassic version of O.megalodon, along with Himalayasaurus.

Overall this was an excellent video, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next, but there are a few small mistakes I want to point out: Kyhytysuka's name should have a 'y' where the 'i' was. The largest known specimen of Besanosaurus is believed to have reached a length of 8 meters. Ghizouichthyosaurus should be spelled Guizhouichthyosaurus, with an 'h' after the 'z' and a 'u' in the place of the first 'h'. I'm not sure if you forgot to add them or not, but Eurhinosaurus, Ophthalmosaurus, and Shastasaurus don't have any maps with them.

Here are 3 suggestions you could do: Therizinosauridae size comparison, Prehistoric planet 2 dinosaurs size comparison or The future is wild 3
@izael7000
@izael7000 6 месяцев назад
The ichthyosaurs were a lot of work for me, because I was trying to make the web of life, But it was difficult to find the where they would be on the tree of life. Anyway. Taking this opportunity to give a suggestion For the next vote, I don't know if I've already made a suggestion, but just in case I'll put it here, if I've already included it, great. In this case, the suggestion is the Primeval series. A series where a natural phenomenon that the characters call "Anomalies" that function like earthquakes in existence as a whole, connecting different points in history. the anomalies are trapped where they open, for example, if one opens on Earth, it will not open on Earth, and will follow the planet regardless of position. And they only connect with nearby Anomalies, which can open up inside the planet, or any other body So, anomalies on Earth will only connect with other anomalies on Earth, if these open on Mars, these will be connected with anomalies on Mars. . But anyway, this means that the series has the perfect argument to tell stories where characters will face time travel, but a bizarre thing is that the story is not changed when the anomalies , Unless they start messing with them, crossing them, leaving things in other times, in some way, the Creatures that cross the anomalies most of the time do not change history because things are restored later. This is because the anomalies stop appearing, and then they happen en masse, that is, it is as if the characters messed with these time travel things, but as the Anomalies are timeless, if they simply close, the story proceeds normally as if they had never opened. But anyway, what are the creatures that appear in this series? Well, the creatures are types, real beings, creatures that live or have lived in the real world, in this case those that are known in the fossil record,beings that have not been discovered, there are several creatures in the series that represent species that existed but that we have not discovered. Beings that... Will still exist. And there is another type, which are unidentified beings, we simply don't know if they came from the past or the future. Of the creatures in the fossil record we have For example. Silurian: Eoarthropleura Brontoscorpius, Carboniferous: Arthropleura Meganeura. Permian: Inostrancevia, Celurosauravus, Scutosaurus, Dimetrodon (was cut from the series). Diictodon. Triassic : Therocephalian (represents a real species, which survived the Permian extinction, but it is not said what it is).And I forgot the name of the genus that was theorized to have venom. Jurassic: Stegosaurus (canceled episode). Anurognathus. Ornitholestes, Liopleurodon, Cretaceous: Giganotosaurus Spinosaurus, V Velociraptor, Utharaptor, Triceratops, Pachycephalosaurus, Dracorex. Mosasaurus, Pteranodon, Tyrannosaurus, Pelogen: Titanoboa Neogene: "Brontotherium" Phorusrhacos, Titanis, Quaternary: Mammuthus columbi Australopithecus (which for some reason, they represented as brown bipedal Chimpanzees, rather than humans). Smilodon. Panthera leo Unidentified Herbivores Squamata Homo sapiens (Homo sapiens appear from late prehistory, like the Egyptians. Homo sapiens from medieval Europe, which for the series represents the present, and humans from thousands of years in the future). Creatures that would have existed, but that would not have been identified in the fossil record. tree crapper((from the Cretaceous period). Jurassic Beetle, A large species of insect that created colonies). Unidentified raptors appear several times and there is no explanation as to whether it is a real raptor or whether it is fictional. Giant labyrinthodont, This is actually probably a Kollasuchus,So it must be a real creature, but as I don't remember exactly and I only remembered talking about this species, now I'll leave it here. Giant Silurian scorpion, these are gigantic relatives of the Sea "Scorpions" giant spiders from the Carboniferous period. Based on the old interpretation that megarachne ,But these are different, since at the time of the series it was already known that these were not spiders. Creatures that cannot be identified across eras Fogworms, Apparently these would be from the past, but it is not explicitly said Parasitic fungus. Parasite. Camo beast. Several of the fictional creatures mentioned, it is not said exactly where they are from, but at least we know the period Future Predator of the future A giant non-flying bat. They are capable of killing an adult male lion.. They are social, and have biparental care Megapteran, a giant tiger beetle, apparently rivals of future predators,These are social and communicate a lot with each other, and are capable of killing a predator in the future. Shark of the future. Reptile from the future (creature deleted, would be a type of lizard or crocodilian). Mer Creature, They are primates larger than any that have ever lived, in the series it is theorized that they are descendants of the genus Homo. Or rather, descendants of the descendants of the descendants of the genus Homo, which in this creature's time is an extinct genus of primate. The series suggests that humanity became extinct due to pollution and degradation of the environment, losing food and good water to drink, and leaving the planet hotter than normal.But it is understood that the destruction was not so great that several species were unable to survive, the environment would have destroyed civilization, but humans managed to survive, and together with the other surviving species from the human era, they would have repopulated the planet. After that the polar ice caps melted, but the descendants of the descendants of the human species were more tolerant to heat, after that they adapted to marine life.Another idea is that humans have become extinct, and the Mer Creatures are not our descendants but of another type of primars.But there is no official confirmation. Anyway, these are just a few creatures, there are a lot. I hope you like it

Why didn't you put the ichtosaurus as Hector? It is said to be about 40 meters long and weigh approximately 200 or 300 tons.
