I'll be honest, seeing Sonic.EXE in the comics is scarier than zombots. Evan Stanley knows how to make scary pictures.

5:52 okay, i admittedly bursted into laughter, just at how out of left field that was, i mean just look at it. that aside, i actually do like the idea of mimic, he's essentially the chameleon or clayface, and i'm all for sonic having a comic book-esque gallery of varied and diverse foes that aren't just cthulu monsters every two minutes or eggman and his forces, so i'm interested in where this is going.

Just wanna say, it's because of this comic I began buying idw sonic. Reading just the first few preview pages were so entertaining, from the artwork, to the dialogue, to the expressions and characters, I wanted to support the comic and actually began buying up volumes. I like how if you pay attention to the wisps in the background, they each now have their own little personality. Lazer and Hover are each having fun in their own ways, Spikes is watching and mimicking others, Rocket seems the most responsible and Cube the most empathetic. I hope they keep these traits, as it makes them feel less like just items Whisper uses. Small note, there's two notable cameos. The baby Mimic takes a lollipop from looks remarkably like Chumley from Sonic Boom, which makes sense since it was first named in an episode Evan Stanley wrote. Her "Ghosts of the Future" fancomic is also referenced with Sonic's necklace from that series being able to be barely seen in Jewel's museum. Overall it's a solid first issue, and the miniseries should be an interesting ride.

I can already imagine all three, Tangle, Whisper and Jewel as a team. Whisper, Speed Tangle, Power. Jewel, Flight. I wonder what they would be called. Any ideas?

WHY DID THEY NEEDED TO BRING IN THAT ABOMINATION INTO THIS SERIES!?

Mimic kinda reminds me of an old villain from Fleetway comics, Metamorphia.

I thought( a theory) of something about Archie Sonic and I don’t where to leave this thought so I decide to leave one here. What if the Ultimate annihilator eliminated Archie Sonic’s toon powers and eliminate the “Toon factor” from the Prime zone? I recall Zonic said the Ultimate Annihilator effected other zones too. The other multiverses must of lost their “Toon factor” too. Issue 1-50 had Sonic using toon powers. Like doing the 4 th wall, getting extremely injured or sick and casually walk in off, and doing crazy speed things like turning invisible when Robotnik want the power of a witch, all that happen in Archie’s “Toon” period. And while after issue 25 the toon motif was getting less, it never reappeared since. Nothing after the milestone issue 50. Locke said the entire universe blinked out of existence in A billionth of a second. What if The Ultimate Annihilator weld a power similar to Chaos Control? Or, Robotnik was using Chaos Emeralds as the power source and the ore was for containing and helped controlling the Chaos Emeralds power. Making the prototype of the Genesis Wave. This would make Dr. Eggman’s sudden ability to make a Genesis Wave make sense since Robotnik is an alternate, younger version of Dr. Eggman. They could have the same vision of altering Reality. But the Ultimate Annihilator was an unpredictable beast for being a weaker Genesis Wave, as it could only erase existence, not reshape it. But what if it did reshape the multiverse? Up to that point, the Archie Sonic was about Toon antics and the relatively, the world was toon to. There was a threat but you never feared it. Robotnik was goofy and Sonic was so unbeatable, you never worried. Sure, Sonic would get hurt, but he never lost. His solutions also didn’t make sense and the rules of the universe kept changing on itself, trying to find shape. A long story with some good footing, but always retain a light feel to the story. But... after the night of 1000 Sonics, the “Toon force” began to disappear. Sonic began to get into tougher fights, losing that unbeatable streak. The characters began truly feeling negative emotions. Things started to matter, and characters started to remember previous issues. But the issues still had Toon elements in it, even as the issues continued. It didn’t really stopped till Endgame. I’m wondering, did the “Toon Force” disappear from the comic because of the reality erasing powers?

I think this has something to do with the look whisper gave shadow in the battle for angel island,maybe she was part of the defense squad that shadow demolished in episode shadow(along with infinite and mimic).

Mimic himself proved to be a bit of a creeper. But the fact is, I saw sonic had suction cups in the recording. My bet is that whoever mimic actually is, is something aquatic(Obviously a squid or octopus, idk) But this issue did well raising the stakes and establishing the new threat. But this begs the question: Was Whisper one of those diamond cutters? If not, then is the missing target a shapeshifter like mimic? Only time will tell.

I'm I the only one who always watches the little explanations he does for me viewers/readers? Even thoguh I read every issue and watch every review?

Sweet review, MBM. Yeah, the miniseries does look enjoyable so far, nothing too bad. I love your reaction to Mimic taking on Sonic’s form and I do agree that it almost does look like Sonic EXE, but how the heck did you know about that creepypasta, did you look it up? People are indeed in shock that some obscure part of sonic fandom has surfaced in sonic media at last after years of hoping it would never rise again! Anyways, time to chill... -JMM

Sonic Exe: Who are you? Mimic: You, but not some stupid recolor and not a bad ripoff of Pennywise.

So Mimic is basically a more memorable Sonic Exe with an actually interesting backstory and more personality.

Anyway, I wish the Tangle & Whisper Miniseries becomes successful for IDW, so in the near future we could get something like "Sonic Universe" or something like that again. I'm not too interested in the main series anymore after issues #18 & #19. I just want the Metal Virus Arc to be over already

Hello, Megabeatman. I really like your reviews of the comics on your channel. I think you do a really good job at it. Also, in case you didn't see on the panels where the Sonic-disquised Mimic is revealed to Tangle, the panel before the one with the Mimic holding the knife (5:46) showed the left glove having a pale-blue ring on the palm as well as dots on the tips of the fingers and thumb. Do you think this might be the source of Minic's shape-shifting ability, or just a hint of what he'll actually look like when he's not in disguise of anyone?

great review! i love this comic and i feel you gave it a far shake. the only nitpick i have is that at 8:55 you say Sonic's busy with the metal virus and thats not true. the T&W miniseries takes place between issues 12 through 15. 16 is when Tangle tells Sonic about the events of the miniseries and the zombot crisis starts. i'd say Sonic was more likely either resting, or dealing with Rough and tumble in issue 13 at the time of this comic. but other then that small continuity error the review itself was great.

I didn't liked this IDW saga. But now I want the third (or second) part of this comic saga MORE than the Metal Virus!
