A lot Fun fact The difference between Irish Guy and James' videos Irish Guy's videos are largely based on his opinion (eg. Premier League table based on every club's best team) James' videos are based on FACTS (eg.Last time your club was playing in Europe) ☝ No Rafa Benitez reference by the way
@Ati87 I would love to agree but Bournemouth still only got 34 points..which isn't good enough. If a team wants to stay up they need to be able to do it without relying on other team's results. Still sad to see them go down off that one mistake, but not a great season either
To me it doesn’t matter how they go down it’s just i don’t think they’re gonna come back up just because of the quality of players leaving atm. Watford is more in shambles at the moment but to me they have a better chance going back up than Bournemouth do
In relation to Boro, you've discounted the fact that they'd be in a group with another English team (Man United in this case) and so the draw itself would be radically different
5:00 Yes they would found it easy against Wender of Ozil, Mertesacker, Pizarro, Naldo and Marin...The same team that finished runner up the previous year in Europe League Also that Twente that won the Eredivise against Suarez's Ajax... Inter is Inter even in charge of Rafa they would make it ahead of Aston Villa even with Zanneti as their manager and Mourinho's ghost up his shoulder Aston Villa would be destroyed and may even finish buttom of the group.
This video is the definition of premier league bias, most of these teams would’ve been OBLITERATED in the CLs simple as that, outside of the top 6 it’s rare there’s a team capable of taking on the Europe’s elite
We have this in the Netherlands but for the final Europa League place. And even though the playoff winner generally doesnt do so well in Europe I still think it is a good addition since it gives all the midfield teams something to play for deep into the season
i would love to see it happen in the Prem this season or a couple years time so that it gives newly promoted sides like Sheffield Utd and Leeds a chance to fight for CL.
I support Chelsea, we could have won by more against Steaua, we could have avoided defeat in the 1st leg, I think Newcastle could have squeezed past them
1:39 couldn’t have got Manchester United as they’re an English team and to of the same nation can’t play in the same group and also you couldn’t get the same nation in the round of 16.
The years he is mentioning are for the premier league season that lead to these hypothetical teams qualifying for the following years champions league.
I’ve got a video idea for the channel: “On which place would’ve your club finished this EPL season without their key/best player” or something like that
I every champions league had a third place playoff 2010 Lyon vs Barcelona 2011 Real Madrid vs Schalke 2012 Real Madrid vs Barcelona 2013 Real Madrid vs Barcelona 2014 Bayern Munich Chelsea 2015 Real Madrid Bayern 2016 man city vs Bayern 2017 Monaco Atlético 2018 Bayern Roma 2019 Ajax barcelona
Video idea: pick one player (past or present) from any team to improve a current PL team. For example Nesta to Arsenal to improve the defence. Or say Neuer to Man United to improve on De Gea.
I like the idea of the play-off but we kind of already do have it with the qualifying fixtures. I do find them more interesting than just having potentially more or less the same pool of clubs fight about and get in largely on current form.
Irish guy just a suggestion you could do different leagues so for the one player your club needs to sell you could do laliga or another league but just a suggestion
Be fair to Burnley in their Europa league run - the squad was decimated with injuries, 3 absolutely key players in particular were out with injury, and we never had the squad depth for the league and Europe league
A Champions League Play off should actually exist. The FA Cup winner should play a 2 legged game against the team who finish fourth in the League to qualify for the group stages. Obviously this match would only take place if the FA Cup winners hadn't already qualified for the CL through the League.
I think they should do like the Netherlands where there’s a Europa league play-off but not champions league. Gives a chance for the smaller teams and not compromise their CL spots
Even as a Newcastle fan I still have no idea how we finished 5th in 11/12 and could well have made top 4. In one of those mental stats that justifies the old saying about lies damned lies and statistics in the 2011/12 season a team managed by Alan Pardew finished above the European Champions that year. Just let that sink in.
In the top 5 it probably wouldn't change much cos city and Liverpool are so far ahead, while united and Chelsea have more than 1 capable goal scorer. Leicester with no vardy might struggle tho. Wolves would be fine, they have plenty of decent enough players to stay near enough where they are in the league. Tottenham would definitely have a gap in their team with no Harry kane however. Arsenal with no auba would be fucked and probably lower in the table than they are. Southampton would struggle without Danny ings unless someone else came forward Everton with no calvert lewin or richarlison would also struggle (both are on a similar amount of goals I think) Aston villa with no grealish would definitely go down I'm probably wrong, however in my opinion not much would change except for teams with only 1 or 2 decent forwards.
The fact that Newcastle lost in 06/07 to AZ wasn't weird because AZ lost the Eredivisie title to PSV on two points because they lost on the last day on the season while starting on the same points in the last round.
I reckon it should be between 4th, 5th & 6th. Fifth and 6th play first, with winner playing 4th. The winner of that game get CL qualifiers, loser gets Europa, loser of first game gets whatever shit 6th place gets. That way, finishing 4th still gives an advantage, but doesn't guarantee qualification. Also will add diversity with how mental 5th-10tb can always be in the Prem. But yeah, love the idea of a playoff!
I think this would be better if instead of 4th-7th you had 5th and 6th play each other then the winner plays 4th in the final. Cuz otherwise it seems a bit unfair on the team that finished 4th idk just a thought
I think the FA Cup winners with 4th should have a play off for UCL and UEL. Winners get UCL, and Loosers get UEL. Or ifvwe're making this even bigger, then FA cup winners with 4th, 5th and 6th, bcs 7th is a bit low to consider for UCL chance.
As a spurs fan it’s hard to calm whether Wolves would have beaten Leipzig. Spurs had, Son, Kane, Bergwijn and Sissoko our for both legs. Bergwijn was available for the first leg. We had to play Moura as striker. No way we would have lost as bad to say the least.
Spurs lost 3-2 to wolves this year? But spurs are better are they? Hahahaha maybe when yas had poch yeah but with Mourinho yas about as scary as Salford city so simmer down
Okay just for some of you (like me) who were hella confused by the concept of this vid, the title should basically be “What if the 7th placed team from every year went into the Champions League?”
