There is so much emotion coming through in this song. I liked the original solo better though. Hard to imagine they kept together after cliff with all the grief they were going through
@@guillhermio.merencio4273 I just plain don’t like it. I don’t find the electric guitars gel well with the symphony. It just ends up sounding like too much noise to me. An acoustic unplugged set with a symphony would work better in my opinion.
@Shockheadd45 I agree, the tone they got from TBA is great, I always loved it along with MOP, but i just listened to MOP all the way through again and that is probs my fav tbh you can tell from each album Metallica became more perfectionist's
@@prettynoose8497 This bass player thinks it's far and away the best work they ever did. Wish Burton was on it, but it's the most interesting and cohesive album. It was almost as if they wanted to have one last great album before completely giving up.
I wasn't expecting such a different interpretation of a classic instrumental. The intro is a tearjerker, and it makes me think of everything I've been through in my life. Being physically disabled is not easy even though there are people that believe that wholeheartedly. The number of obstacles I've faced, and the amount of bad luck in many departments are too much to list. It's only now that I've started to feel like myself, and this instrumental is a reminder of that.
Off topic a little bit, in early 2017, I was in a relationship with someone I loved very much (still to this day). She opened my mind to the world. I wanted to make it work and even though we loved each other, we had very significant differences on life views, family values, etc. Anyways, once I felt the beginning of the end coming I came across this version of this song. Years have past and we haven't talked since early 2017. She's gone forever. (We are from different countries hence some of the life views). This song truly embodies the loss of love in any form. First time I've heard this song since around the time we broke up. Beautiful track.
I feel you, man. Since childhood, I just listened to the original and thought it was just badass, never really giving it the listen it was meant for. 30 years later, I listen to it much differently due to me losing my mother on 2/14/19 and the most emotional part of this song is right when the tempo speeds up and the double kick kicks in until it slows down, stops and fades out. Why? Because when the music is calm, I'm with her and conversing with her in my head and feeling a momentary sense of calm. Then, it's like she tells me that she has to go and I'm running after her, telling her to wait and wanting her to stick around a lil longer. I lose sight of her, so I stop running and I look around... and she's gone...
When a man lies, he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths wich men miscall their lives. All this I cannot bear to witness any longer. Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home
Actually, the last part, from "All this I cannot..." is written by Cliff. The parts before are from a book he read, don't remember what's the name of it.
Damn, this was the one of the first "what if" on Metallica albums. I heard 4 or 5 years ago and i forgot it existed until youtube recomended again. Amazing piece of art
Thymerishere Truuue!!!! Too bad no song would fade into Blackened anyway, since it's the first track. Maybe he's hinting a "If Blackened was on the Black album"? That would be amazing.
Wow that intro with the orchestral part is brilliant. and the rest is absolutely killer!! The solo was sounding EXACTLY like Hammett on the black album :) You never fail to impress with those recordings!!!
I can’t help but feel that some of the leads missing are taking away from the song. Like when the part after the first solo in the song switches to the heavy sad section before the beautiful clean part.
Nailed it Luke. TLITD is one of my favourite Metallica song ever... and knowing what GuitarRazze is capable of, I couldn't wait for any second. Amazing work !
Empty Shell Axiom haha thanks. I was amazed at the introduction and got to say this is one of his best works. Not saying his others aren't good, but can't touch this masterpiece :)
I always thought that people getting chills from music was just an exaggeration until i heard 4:14 for the first time. Holy crap. One of the best guitar lines ever. This and the Orion bass solo both give me chills
Yet again, Guitarrazze pulls another twist we did not see coming. Gg,didn't expect this The orchestral at the beginning sound a bit similar to The Unforgiven III, which is a nice little call forward imo, but I feel like the main section would've been better if it was a tiny bit slower. The build up to the middle section is brilliant too and my god, the Middle section..........*sheer fanboying intensifies*.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST FOUND THIS!? To Live is to die is my favorite song by Metallica and this is right up there with the original MAN this is AMAZING!
These are so spot on, I'm almost convinced you keep going back in time to alternate universes where Metallica themselves recorded these songs at different times!
I remember when you released this video i was on a break in my 12 hour shift fish factory job. I often come back to listen, masterfully done. We miss you GR, hope you are adoing well.
To live is to die is my favorite song. Ever. This intro is something I have never experienced before. So fucking amazing man. GuitarRazze, you did it again. Blowing my mind one video after another. This is actually better than my favorite song. You are a god damned legend bro!!!
I think they would love it so much. Maybe inspire them to practice harder and use better guitar tones lol. But seriously they need to watch it. if GuitarRazze gets more popular, maybe it gets enough exposure and they just see it.
That was waaaaay better that I expected it to be. I could definitely hear the black album influence on this. I could see this fading out and going into my friend of misery or even through the never! Amazing job🙏🏻
James Carmichael I played this masterpiece at the house Jack built and the bastard hit the lights and started bleeding me, man.. Anyway, when we fixxxer we started to devil's dance and I swear I felt like the hero of the day with such attitude! Carpe diem, baby! Cheers!
Man this is actually incredible, from a die hard Metallica fanatic, I prefer this over the original version. Thank you so much for blessing my ears with this composition
One month ago i lost my grandpa who cared about me everyday and loved me a lot. The first song i heard after his passing was this. I cried really hard when i heard the slow guitar part. All my memories with him passed through my head when i was listening this song. Everytime i read the title of the song i think about him because to live is to die. Thank you for making this beautiful piece.
At very first I thought "What the hell kind of blasphemy is this?" But I stand and applaud. I even laughed once I got the meaning of what's in the descrip. This makes the world a little better. Well done! Honestly, I'll be back just to read more of the comments here...! Sharing this mindfully ...
Just look up St Anger re-recorded. The vocalist nails James’s voice and it really makes you realize how good a lot of the songwriting on that album actually is
wow dude, I'm lost for words. this was my favorite song to play, and was jamming it in high school while in a metallica cover band... you deserve a medal (metal) :)
Pure greatness! Dude, congrats! Amazing rendition. You were able to perfectly reconstruct the insane Black Album tone and also threw in some new elements in the song that just made it even more colourful.
