No one group or person has the ability to effect change across the board, however we are committed to doing our part by continuing to stand up for our constitutional right to free press and the right to take photographs and video in public. Huge props to these two young officers. Handled things perfectly, realized their chief was likely wrong, and used critical thinking. Those two - despite their superior officer - just saved the city a lawsuit, and made their department look like there’s intelligent people on the front lines. Every officer in the country (and my country) should watch this video and take notes.

They saved the "People" from a lawsuit. It is the People that pay the damages, not the City. Look at the 3 million dollar settlement out of Loveland Colorado. Loveland Police beat up a 73 year old woman, Karen Garner, and then laughed about it on camera! The people of Loveland will pay and this is why cops do not care, they have protection from being liable, their uppers and the District Attorney's do not hold them accountable. It is shameful.

I commented (below) prior to getting to the point in the video where AP makes his heartfelt pitch to these two young officers about continuing to hold true to their moral character. It was an emotional moment where I seriously got all choked up. I have watched hundreds of 1st amendment audits, and dozens done by AP, and this moment is the absolute best of all!

I think this video exemplifies the importance of the Constitution. Without it, people are free to selectively enforce their will on others based on their political ideology. The only way it works is when people are willing to set aside their own opinions and egos which is ultimately what these officers did. They should be commended for honoring their oath.

This officer sincerely wishes to keep this situation calm. He acts as though he does not want to follow his "sup's" orders, but really the guy is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He seems like a nice guy.

As a former law enforcement officer myself, I can tell you this probably happens almost anywhere in this country, simply because some law enforcement agencies somewhere don't follow up on the most current law changes, or are too lazy or ignorant to bother with the legalities. I'll say this. These two young officers were professional and keen enough to realize that their supervisor was biting off more than he can chew! This supervisor's ego got the best of him. He felt threatened because he realized he was debating with someone who knew the law better than he! People like that have the potential to get their officers in very serious dilemmas. This so-called supervisor needs retraining!

Um I half agree with you. The male cop in the video was exceptional. But if you watch again, the female cop only went along with the male cops calm reasoning. You can tell she did not believe that Jason could be recording. Right when she first arrived, she only mentioned the mask issue as secondary. Then at the end when Jason was talking to the 2 cops at the sign and mentioned the chief was wrong to say ‘you can’t record TSA’ , she disagreed with Jason’s claim that he could.

It used to be so easy to be a cop. Whatever people wanted to do, you just tell them, "You can't do that! It's illegal." These days, people can look things up on the internet right away. Sadly, some cops don't really want to learn the laws, they just want the control. It's nice to see these two young officers use good judgement.

Amagansett is right, the federal executive order only applies to "the employees and visitors of federal land and properties." Airports are the property of local airport authorities. It cannot be imposed on private citizens outside federal facilities. Also, TSA expressly permits photography with the customary exceptions for disrupting or capturing shielded security screens. Common sense dictates that TCA officers and local cops assigned to airports will be briefed on these things.

@@AkronKid330 the link is video you just watched. Texas Governor prohibits enforcing mask mandates on the public on public property paid for by taxpayers, federal property is different. A airport is public property until you ENTER the TSA area to board a plane, there federal rules apply. Laredos police chief has been enforcing TSA "request" on public property, opening Laredo up for a lawsuit. This video shows what is city property till it becomes federal property in the airport.

I like how this went. I love that the officers listened and were willing to learn. You are 100% right about the law. I just retired after 28 years of federal law enforcement and local law enforcement before that. I love how the chief tried to threaten you with checking his video to see if you violated non existent federal law of filming TSA

@@susanbildnershoot, forget every six months. Any cop should be required to spend 4x the amount of time in a law library that they spend at a range. Clock 30 minutes at the range training to murder we the people? 2 hours into the constitutional law library you go. No exceptions.
