"Love. Love will keep us together." Darn you Chris, as soon as you mentioned them, that song immediately popped in my head! The X3 is one of my favorite slants in my collection along with PAA's Phantasm and the Fatip slant. It does remind me of the Marvel, because it is deceptively efficient and smooth, despite almost no blade feel. As far as soaps it's Shannon's Soaps hands down! It is the easiest by far, of any of the soaps I own, to get a great lather with almost no effort. I'm not sure if if it's related to her scientific background, but it works like magic.

Excellent comment Shadow. I got a really nice shave out of the razor today. I agree with you on Shannon's. It's easier to develop a creamy lather quickly. I'm not sure why:)

Hi Chris, great shave. I hope one day these soaps and splashes will be available in the Netherlands. Looks and sounds very good. My favourite is also Stirling soaps, I recently bought my first A&E soap, the undersea, and liked that one too. Also easy to lather.

What an amazing looking razor. Again, great video Sir and much obliged. My soap of choice is Captain Fawcett’s Shaving Soap, the ‘Scapicchio’ version. I love the products from Captain Fawcett’s; The beard balms and oils are superb so for my first soap, I chose a brand that I know well. What they do at Fawcett’s is collaborating with people who know their stuff. The Scapicchio Soap for example is made in collaboration with Luigi Scapicchio, an Italian barber and renowned for his straight razor shaving (no shavettes!) It gets really creamy fast and smells nice (fig, olive and bay rum).

For me, the easiest to get a perfect lather with every time, is Noble Otter. Specifically Northern Elixir, as it is the only soap I have from them.

Stirling (especially the sheep Tallow ones) and Blue Devil Shave Co (newer Australian maker) are the soaps that always give me a reliable lathers. Although I have not tried Shannon yet. Keep safe Chris.

I think the soap that makes the easiest lather for my lathering habits is Murphy & McNeil Aon base. Love the Magh Tured scent too... Just sayin...

Holy moly lather! Captain and Tennille!! I like Woodland Frost only at Christmas! Dude, I measure in grams to 100. I tried doing a full 4 oz, but sometimes if they get too cold, the ones with menthol will form a menthol "plug" at the top. And then that's a giant mess. So I leave airspace. :)

I have the X3 and haven’t used it in a long time. It was my first slant. I remember it being real smooth but it did not really provide feedback. As a beginner using it, I think I applied too much pressure and would always get weepers. I’m sure things would be different today. I need to break it out again. Great video Chris.

Great review bro. I have to try Shannon’s. I might like that scent. Menthol always make me think about it because it is not my thing lol. I get a great lather out of Stirling, 345, and Barrister and Mann Excelsior base all the time. All slick and fun to build the lather. Bowl lather or face lather these soaps are great. On my sensitive skin days I bowl lather and it helps not having to scrub like you say. Give it a try peeps.

I haven't tried Shannon's yet (none in my den), PAA (48 soap/splash sets in my den but unopened), or Murphy & McNeil (Pisgah Kodiak Base in my den but unopened). WSP Matterhorn in the den but unopened. I ordered all of Tallow & Steel and Simply Skinful deer tallow soaps and those arrive this weekend. Kaizen 2 is the best lather in my opinion. Stirling, Wholly Kaw, Declaration Grooming, and Moon are very good but Kaizen 2 is the best I've tried. Will have to try the other brands and see. I also feel lathering from the Puck and then lathering on the head works best compared to lathering in a bowl then applying to head. I find the lather will be silkier and thicker versus than a light and "airy" consistency when bowl lathering. Just my experience. Keep up the great work sir!

That's a lot of stuff to get to Sean:) Kaizen 2 is absolutely stellar. What I meant in my comments is that Shannon's for me is the easiest soap to create a great lather with, quickly. It's not finicky and does not require 'dialing in.' Many other soaps will create as good a lather, but Shannon's does it with the least effort for me. I face lathered for many years and then switch a year or so ago to bowl lathering because I found it to be easier on my face. It also allows me to control the amount of hydration better. Watch my lathering tutorials with Stirling and Shannon's and you'll see these lathers are not airy:) All that said, there's no right or wrong way to do it. As long as you're enjoying it, it's the right way:)

If you're getting airy lather while bowl lathering it's because you're splaying too much and splaying too early. I agree with K2 being top dog.

man for the money that razor looked very good 👍 have to say can’t think of a soap i have that is tricky to lather even the wool fat is not to bad . only ones i find for me personally i have to work a little bit is b and m it still get a great lather out of it

Hey Paul. I'd say most soaps lather well with modest effort. Some soaps yield an incredible result with very little effort. There's also a small amount of soaps that are finicky and don't produce volume unless you use a lot of product. It's kinda like the three bears story I guess:)

I just checked, there is no blade overhang. It's the best slant razor I've used at any price.

It does not have blade overhang. This is a nice mild slant. At $35 it's cheaper than a lot of the other out there as well.

LPL is my jam…Shannon’s is an easy second. I believe you’re correct with the ingredient count…some go a little too far, though certainly not with bad intentions. That’s why I favor LPL, Abbatte y la Mantia, MDC, PannaCrema, etc for the effective simplicity.
