Would you guys like another update video? It has been some time since I have made one, there has been a lot going on lately. A lot of trial and error with dieting, supplements that have worked and not worked, day to day things I do to make life easier as well as things that are just simply in the hands of the disease. Let me know, I would love to hear feed back. I Can get something uploaded this weekend if it is something you guys would like to see. I think it would give great insight in to an overall, general basis of things you all could try, and look out for.

Hi Steven, I’m so glad I found your account as this is helping me get prepared for my upcoming reversal surgery. I was diagnosed in November of 2021 with UC and ended up being hospitalized 2 times due to flareups. I had an infection during my second flareup that occured right around Christmas this year which forced me to get rushed into surgery to remove my colon. I have had the ileostomy since Janurary 21st and things are going well but I am looking forward to getting my reversal done. It’s very tough being 20 years old going through this, I had to drop work, school, working out and playing hockey. I really appreciate the videos you post and I’ll be watching all of your videos until the surgery date (hoping for November 2022). Thanks again!!

I had my iliostomy reversal exactly one week ago too. The surgeon left the hole open (just stitched the muscle) to close slowly. I have to pack it with iodine strips. The doctor says it will close completely in two weeks but I think thats optimistic. Im thinking more like 6 weeks. Good luck you bud. You look pretty young to having colon issues

Just watched your video of your first week post op ileostomy reversal. I am one week post op and feel exactly - I mean spot on - the same way ! The pressure is almost more than I can handle. If my surgeon said today lets go back to an ileostomy I would probably say yes. My hospital stay was good and was up walking and GI soft diet after day 3. Please share how long it took before the pressure went away and what you did for for the pain...... I feel like the early stage of my UC diagnosis. Any discussion would be appreciated! I had surgery to remove a section of bowel and bladder as i had a fistula linking them. Ive had a temporary bag since then, 21st March. My reversal surgery is booked for 13th July so in 3wks from today. I absolutely can't wait to get rid of the bag. Luckily so far I've had no leaks or disasters but its very restrictive and the stoma hurts almost all the time. The pain ranges from tolerable to feeling like someone is twisting a knife in my side. Its just got to go.

Just keep your chin up and push through. The stoma reversal was nothing in comparison. 4days in hospital and I was walking about within an hour of the op. It's well worth having it done though. I'm now back to riding my mountain bike XC every evening and doing moderate mat work, all completely pain free. I feel like a new man. As for the scars, I wear them with pride. They show I've been through the wringer and made it through to the other side.

Hi! Steve, I had ulcerative colitis since 2017, end up with ileostomy bag on 2020, had j-pouch surgery on 4th of march 2022, and now on June, I will be doing reversal of ileostomy surgery. I am a little nervous. How are you doing now? How often do you need to go to the toilet? How about tolerating food?
@FishingWithGuero
@FishingWithGuero 2 года назад
Toilet breaks depends on what I eat. If I eat bad, I go more. Right now I’m down to about 3-4 times a days with a fairly strict diet. At first, you may be going quite a bit, but it’ll be ok. I was at 9-10 times a day for 7-8 months. Only thing you can really do is try foods and see what works and what doesn’t for you, a lot of the foods on the list if don’t eat, I am able to eat and Vice Versa. Exercise and diet are the main things that helped me. Water intake, adding a little bit of salt to the diet to help retain water, clean/lean low fiber foods (fiber makes you poop, less fiber less poop but not too little of fiber), and some sort of exercise I.e walking around your neighborhood, push ups/sit ups, anything to get the heart rate going and promoting recovery in the body to help the wounds heal.

In my country, ileostomy reversal surgery requires 7 days in the hospital. I just got home. Today is PO day 8. They gave me only water for 6 days. The 7th day, I was allowed foods without and fiber.

If you mean rash/burn around your bum I used desitin ointment after every bowl movement. I just put some on some toilet paper and spread it around (sounds kinda weird but it helped me). At this present moment I’m dealing with minor ulcerative colitis like symptoms, as well as possible pouchitis. I won’t know for sure about the pouchitis until later next week. So far, it hasn’t been too terrible. I personally have great control over my bowels, my rectal muscles are working great. I do go pretty frequently (6-12 times a day depending how bad my flare up decides to be). Other than that it’s been pretty good. One thing I would highly suggest is absolutely staying away from anything even remotely spicy (it burns really really bad). I have a follow up video in the works right now, should be up in a few days. It will explain all the positive and negatives I personally experienced up to this point.

I had a colostomy, then a colostomy reversal plus ileostomy. Now it has been 2 months since ileostomy and I am due for ileostomy reversal surgery. My recovery from both the colostomy as well as ileostomy was quite painful and long. I had ileus (bowel paralysis) a few days after my ileostomy. ~Now everything is fine. There is no pain and I can eat what I like. I am concerned about what side effects there will be after the ileostomy reversal surgery. Is anal incontinence a concern after ileostomy reversal? Or will things get back to normal ever? How long does it take for things to get back to normal? Also, how long after ileostomy reversal surgery can one join back office (work)?
@FishingWithGuero
@FishingWithGuero Месяц назад
@@lekshmymoney6970 I experienced incontinence for the first few months or so, but it was only in my sleep. While awake I was ok, just super painful when I needed to use the restroom (still this way), but total loss of control only came about while I was sleeping. As far as recovery, it’s different for everyone unfortunately. There’s no clear cut healing time. For me, I’m still “healing” even though I’m diagnosed chrons disease with pouchitis now. It does get better, my advice would be eat as healthy as you can, rest when you can, and try to pay close attention to when you eat and what causes pain.

I'd say we all are going to be different. We are all going to need to be positive, moving forward. I had a perforated colon, septic, an ostomey since August6, a reversal 3 mo later Nov10. I do fast physical production maintenance at a factory but don't think I'll be 100% what I 2as. If I'm 90% most will be happy, if I'm less than 80%, I may have to career change? I just need less small poops to equal 1 regular poop. My normal is 2 to three regular poops a day which now equals 20 to 30 painful tiny poops. Maybe my stomach and whats left of my colon need to stretch???. Strange how every time the area is disturbed, something changes

@FishingWithGuero
@FishingWithGuero 2 года назад
There’s pros and cons to either or. Just depends on your perspective of the Ileostomy. I personally didn’t like looking at it, dealing with it, smelling it, waking up in poop, etc. So, for me, I’d rather deal with the pain, inflammation, limited diet, sleepless nights, etc than look at the Ileostomy bag to be completely honest.

Hi Steven, thank you for such a quick response. I would be of the same mind set as yourself regarding getting a J-pouch. I was constantly told by my GI that I'll get my life back if I opted to get an ileostomy/J-Pouch. I've been miserable since I got my ileostomy, I feel like I traded one problem (UC symptoms) for a whole set of different problems that come with an ileostomy, now I'm close to getting J-Pouch formed and to be honest the feedback from ppl with a j-pouch does not sound much better. Thank again for your feedback, take care and God bless.

I’m still dealing with cuffitis issues. Lack of blood circulation in the rectal region causes significant pain. Severity changes day to day and even hour to hour for me, but for the most part I’ve just learned to ignore the pain as best as I can since there’s nothing that can be done for circulation problems. Also to clarify circulation issues can come from scar tissue build up, which everyone’s body builds scar tissue differently so my pain may not be someone else’s pain is what I’ve come to realize.

I had my reverse ileostomy 1 week ago. Things are starting to get back to normal although I have pain at the site area. My problem is that I’ve had no advice on diet. Yesterday I had a big dinner, potatoes meat and a creamy sauce. Later I had Cheese and onion sandwiches ( 4 slices ). I had a terrible painful nights sleep being bloated. Got up this morning thinking OMG I’m constipated so I had a hot shower which works great for me against this. Shortly after things started to move but it was diarrhoea again.
