The maker free background tracking with the smart phone app is intended as a guide only, though it's excellent for on set purposes, as of course the actors would block the regular optical tracking markers as they move around... as the tracking is accelerometer / gyroscope / digital compass based, that's never a problem!
It tracks camera rotation but not position, so it does NOT do free roaming (e.g. steadicam movement) full 3D camera tracking (if it did every major tech company and military in the world would be after me wanting to know how I did it!).
