Part 1: • Iman Shumpert on Why H...
--------
In this clip, Iman Shumpert explained why he said LeBron ruined basketball by joining Dwayne Wade in Miami. He added context by stating he was responding to Kevin Durant being criticized for joining the Golden State Warriors after their 73-win season. He said KD had no choice but to join another super team in order to compete against LeBron. After explaining how the super team trend was taboo amongst players prior to LeBron and KD's decisions, the conversation transitioned to Shumpert pointing out how the jump shot has become more popular than the slam dunk.

LeBron's move angered owners to the point where they forced a lockout the next summer. They had to figure out a way to make star players want to stay with their teams regardless of how bad they were and whether they were trying to win or not. So they came up with the idea to give teams the ability to offer more money if the player stayed. LeBron influenced guys to start being smart and forget about "loyalty" and do whatever they wanted to do with their careers. Melo, Chris Paul, Paul George, Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant...none of them would've left or asked for trades if LeBron had stayed in Cleveland. Imagine siding with owners over players and thinking guys should just stay with their teams even if their owners and front offices are trash. Couldn't be me. The power had to be taken away from ownership and given to the players. I'm glad LeBron did that.

Context is missing in why David stern vetoed the cp3 trade: the NBA owned the hornets at the time and didn't feel the trade was beneficial for the hornets.
@nate8604
@nate8604 Год назад
True, but I don’t think that negated Iman’s point, the higher ups of the league didn’t like that LeBron gave players the idea that they can control what teams they decide to go to. And like you said, Stern was fearful nobody would buy the Hornets without a star on it, killed two birds with one stone. Even though they did agree to trade CP3 to the Clippers.

Teams below 500 was barely pushing 100 points and even teams abouve 500 was getting shut down by other elite teams not to get passed 100. This shit is so dumb 🤣 you really said nothing. And don’t realize it. Dan Gilbert was NOT building a team to win a ring. Miami built a team to do that with Wade. Let’s not forget that. Quickens Ariana was already being sold out with LeBron alone, and winning a ring wasn’t gonna really make much of a difference to the amount of money Dan was already making. Y’all are forgetting that part. LeBron literally took a wack ass Cavs team to the finals in 07 BY HIMSELF against the Spurs who already were championship bred and experienced. And the next year Dan still did nothing to improve that team to help LeBron. Players also did not want to play in Cleveland. So where else is LeBron supposed to go that would be considered ‘fair’ in your eyes while simultaneously giving him a chance to win a ring after being HEAVILY ridiculed for not winning a ring despite playing for an organization that had no intention of building a championship team during that time? 🤔 you see when you actually use your brain and look at the full context, the shit you said is stupid as fuck?
