Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be benching my Manticore for a while, but I'm excited to finally be putting his brother the Basilisk into my list. Keep up the awesome work!
There is a guy on ebay that sells 3d printed basilisk / medusa carriges for only £25. So you could nab a battery of 3 for under the cost of a single FW one.
I have only had 2 real games with medusas so far but I want to come to their "defence" a bit: First of all D6 shots suck, obviously. But its also relatively cheap, so you can take multiple, so the number of shots should even out somewhat. I copied a tournament winning list which has 3 of them, so overall you usually get a decent ammount of shots. 36 inches of range may not sound that much, but I felt like it was usually enough. I dont find myself trying to shoot the enemies home objective that often. For shooting into the midfield objectives its absolutely enough. BS of 5+ is nothing to celebrate as well but with orders and expert bombadiers (or scout sentinel) you get a 3+, which is decent. Btw since they are infantry, anyone can order them which is really cool. And then ofc the 10S, -3, 3 is just lovely. Im probably biased but my last game was against custodians and every failed save was just a deleted model, absolutely ridiculous.
Totally fair mate. They are dirt cheap at 110 so you are getting 3 for the price of 2 Manticores with 30pt spare. As u say its probably either none of them or 3, nothing in between
I am super new to 40k and have no idea about most everything. I am super interested in guard. Can you explain what people mean and how it works when people say "Just add a leader to your cadians" "just add heavy weapons to your cadians" I do not understand how that works and cant find videos explaining it
So the concept of leaders is new to 10e. It basically means a character can join another unit. Ie a cadian Castellan can join a Cadian squad or some Kasrkins. Which units they can join is indicated on the characters data card. Usually only none character can be attached to a unit amd they may benefit from additional rules. (Ie a cadian castellan gives the attached units sustained hits) Cadians can't take heavy weapons as a weapon choice. However an infantry Sqaud can. Its two different units where an infantry squad can take a heavy Weapon Team however cadians can take 2 special weapons instead. Hopefully this helps!
With custodes getting buffed, we're likely ginna see them on the table a lot more. Tgat means the stock for a basilisk is going uo as well, slow them down and hurt them with tanks, beautiful. The only thing it wouldnt work on is trajan and his swuad and similar units i think kaldor draigo ignores modifiers too.
i've run 2 preators with a lord solar giving them orders they tend to pop tanks, as for size its the same as the macharius tank or about 20cm long by 10cm wide so a fairly large profile

I got a local rtt first weekend in march and I'm taking 10 leman Russ 😂 I got two cyclops so I score some secondary 🤣 I'm hoping I table all three games and still lose 🤣
Yeah it's tough for Guard atm. This army can be very competitive however it takes very very skillful play. (Something I haven't yet mastered) as you say out detachment rule is garbage if u actually want to interact in the game
