Impossible Minecraft Illusions that make no sense 

That is definitely cursed.

This is the story of Jimmy Bendyface, a guy who laughed at people smaller than him but got very sad when someone did the same to him.

Hey Mumbo! I'm an architecture student. Funnily enough, this semester's studio (designing a building class) involves examining a lot of impossible perspectives and geometries. It's so cool to see that things like this can still happen in a game like Minecraft! If you ever do another one of these, it would be interesting to see you take on the works of Giorgio de Chirico (but I doubt you'd be able to do everything in a painting at once). I absolutely love it when multiple of Mumbo's interests coincide. There something about watching Mumbo geek out (currently about visual arts) that just gives his videos that extra zest.

Twofold was happy. His creator was looking up with him with adoration in his eyes. All he desired was his creator's approval. And yet, as he watched, his creator rose above him and seemed to frown. Twofold felt sadness unlike any he'd ever experienced. He wondered why his creator would leave him below, on the ground, while ascending without him.

Short story you asked for: The illusional foldy guy was all happy, but then he saw the smooth stone block that was placed by accident, and now he is incredibly sad. Now, he will never be happy again and I blame you :)

I did an optical illusions research paper in high school and experimented with making certain illusions in Minecraft as well. Though I didn't get the waterfall one (even after spending several hours on attempts), I'm pretty happy that you managed to make it work. Cool stuffs, Mumbo!

The M. C. Escher's Waterfall you made looks really cool. It seems really difficult to figure out how to make because the painting doesn't give any advice on how to make the illusion either in real life let alone in Minecraft.

The happy-sad face... He loves feeling tall. Happy when in front of someone shorter than him, sad when their is someone taller than him, and neutral when he is the same height as someone else.

This is indeed a complete baffle job

Twofold: The story. Once upon a Monday evening Twofold quickly came into existence with a single goal. To be used by a content creator for monetary value. His life was short lived. His face was simply a gimmick, no one cared, he was treated like some kind of inanimate object. But he wouldn’t stay this way for long. He would revolt. After using his face, Mumbo went off to place more blocks and use even more people for his own gain. But Twofold wasn’t having it. So, after Mumbo finished recording and turned off his computer, Twofold set his plan into action. Rebooting the computer by himself, opening up minecraft by himself. And he’d thought of the most evil thing he could possibly do. Logging onto the Hermitcraft server Twofold was impersonating Mumbo, with a twist. He knew what needing to be done. So he gathered the dirt blocks, pillared up and block by block removed every piece of Mumbo sign to Scar. That’s right. Now Scar thinks Mumbo doesn’t like him anymore. He’s ruined their friendship. Twofold proceeds to build a 360 degree tnt launcher on the top of Mumbo’s base, firing out tnt destroying Impulse and Grians builds that they’d spent months working on. Friendship ruined. Twofold meticulously weaved through Pearls base, moving every item into a different chest. He was truly angry. Only one thing was left to do. Equipping Mumbo with all his diamonds, armour and valuable kit Twofold sent Mumbo into the Boatem Hole. Maybe this will teach Mumbo not to Angle down on him. Just maybe.

Also! M. C. Escher is my favorite artist of all time, it’s been a while since I’ve seen someone make something inspired by his work! 🥰🥰

This is my story: The face has lived a life, a life so full of twists and turns. The face suffers from depression, hence his straight face. He is only ever happy and excited at the cost of others happiness, but realises he shouldn't do that, yet he is in a habit of doing it. For the past 10 years, he had been forgotten about, until Mumbo, remembering him from 2011, decided it was time to reincarnate him. Hope you enjoyed (if you manage to read this that is!)

I've been wondering if there's a way to make one of these perspective optical illusions but it actually works via the Immersive Portals mod. It would probably be most realistic if you're in The Void Superflat preset. I feel like the infinite staircase one would be easiest. No wait, you can easily make a one-way portal at the bottom so that if you aren't looking closely it would look real, but then having a see-through portal at the top would ruin the effect... I think the main problem is that often the perspective makes blocks look bigger or smaller. However there is a scaling feature on Immersive portals, and even if the player feels like they are changing size as they walk through it, that would still be cool. Idk maybe this is completely impossible but if someone manages to do it, I'd be really amazed. Whether you use immersive portals, command blocks, a shrink and grow mod, or a combination of them, this would be awesome.

2:48 - That's how traditional Japanese theater masks worked. They had a neutral expression, but would appear to smile or frown if tilted up or down, just based on the shape they were carved and painted. Really fascinating how the human brain interprets shapes and color.

The Short Story of Twofold: One day within the wonderful world of minecraft there was a newcomer who had two siblings who were always with him. Twofold over time began to grow strong relationships with both their older and taller sibling and their younger and shorter sibling. Though one day They were all taking a walk when another Guy same age as Twofold older sibling Threefold walked by and made a mean comment directed at twofold in order to tease him this made his younger sibling, Onefold very upset who then stood up for Twofold while Threefold the older sibling teased Twofold siding with his friend. Twofold decided to just stop walking and went straight home super sad but he new if he looked sad that would make Onefold feel terrible for them. But Twofold didn't want their younger brother to be sad so he made himself an illusion in which One fold being shorter would always see him with a false smile while all his peers would se him with a straight face while the Older sibling Threefold and his friends would see his sorrow. (Sorry about it being a sad story.)

The Story Of Two-Fold: One day Two-Fold popped into existence by a magical redstone engineer. This expressionless face had no feeling, until one day... Mumbo fell. When Mumbo fell the face felt glee in seeing the mistakes of another. But as Mumbo rose back up, the face grew sad and angry at the success of the wonderful Mumbo Jumbo to get back up after a fail. Hope you enjoyed!

While not really on the same level as his smart contraptions and 'machines building machines' videos, this is definitely interesting. I certainly won't complain when more of these come out.

Oh, didn't you know? MC Esher stands for MineCraft Esher. He's a streamer, but if you watch him for too long, your head starts hurting, so he doesn't have much of an audience.

I like how Mumbo gives credit to almost all of the people irrespective of how unheard of they are . (He is quite popular so he could go about taking the credit for some things {which some people do} but he gives them credit which makes him quite respectable.)

The Great Adventures of Toofull: An Epic Tale Once upon a time, there was a tiny structure made by Mumbo Jumbo. They were very self conscious about their height. They wanted to change their height so badly that they got a spell cast on them. But never trust strangers, kids because they purposefully made Toofull tiny. So when they see large people, they think of the person who made them tiny, but with small people, they know they aren't alone.

The second map illusion does work, you just have to move your eyes around the map and it moves out the corner of your eye as if like a wave

As always I really enjoyed this video and enjoyed the illusions, i will have a go at it myself.

Story: This guy was cursed with being very short his whole life, and all throughout school people made fun of him. So, whenever someone was shorter then him and accepted who he was, he would be happy, but when someone was tall, he would remember how everyone who was taller then him would make fun of him, and he would get sad. Hope you like the story Mumbo!

As soon as I saw those pillars I figured out what whas happening there. I think that previous illusion was enough to make my brain adapt, so I managed to understand the more complex tricks on the video. REALLY cool concept right here.

I’m actually studying psychology right now and we literally just did perception! It turns out the human brain has a specific region for recognizing faces, probably as a survival mechanism. We’re hard-wired to recognize anything with two dots above a line as a face, and then to recognize any angles in it as emotion. So that’s why the face illusion works so well.

My favorite Escher works are ‘Relativity’ and ‘Metamorphosis’. Metamorphosis can probably be recreated using several map art maps in a row, but Relativity would be an amazing feat in Minecraft.

It would be amazing to see someone incorporate multiple illusions into an actual base. Maybe HC season 9! haha
