I have used that JVC GY-HC500 in a few multicam productions, along with the smaller version as a handheld cam. I was very happy with the quality of both the cam itself and the image. Pretty easy to work with and dependable.

3Play before the 3P1 sucked, but its actually a lot more stable with the newer models (3P1 and 3P2). It's also seen as a lot more "standard" for stuff like ESPN+ shows and small TV stuff. VMix replay is scarce in terms of freelancers who can hop on it. 3Play is taught in a lot of colleges - so theres a bigger pool.

For some reason, I didn't get a notification of this live stream. I have gotten notifications for things like the label video and Sketchpad discount. There isn't anything about this in the Community is Membership areas. How did people know about it?

As a professional TV engineer (and fellow RU-vidr), I don't understand people's desire to shoot in 4k. Most people watch on their phones or laptops where 4k will make no difference.

I also agree Blackmagic will never adopt NDI. In fact, I believe NDI will go away as 2110 becomes more and more popular.

It isn't so much about the final delivery. It's more about having enough resolution to be able to crop and scale in editing. Scaling a 1080p clip looks pretty awful. BUT, with that said, HDR _is_ a huge deal, and nobody is doing HDR in 1080p. It could technically be done, but everybody has decided that if you're doing HDR it's going to be in 4K or higher. Not just because of the increased dynamic range, but also the vastly larger color space that Rec.2020 brings -- far better than Rec.709. Once you've seen full-range color from 2020 it's hard to want to work in 709 again.

@djp_video I wouldn't say nobody is doing 1080p HDR. Fox did it all last season for NFL football, even though it was distributed in 720p SDR. I have heard that other people are doing 1080p HDR as well, just not for distribution.

I meant that nobody is producing equipment that does HDR without also doing 4K. You won't find any cameras which shoot HDR without also offering 4K. And if you have the extra resolution you might as well use it. It does make a big difference in editing. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the HDR on Fox is shooting is fake.
