I was also raised JW from birth, and was a devout, active member for 36 years. That was 17 years ago, and I am happier and more at peace than ever. I sent my disassociation letter simply to make it official, much like divorcing an abusive spouse. Leaving with compassion & empathy . healing from my upbringing and indoctrination, and living a lovely, fulfilling life is my goal as well. Love is always the answer.

They got me real good with this "Triple A".. Available After Armageddon nonsense!! I heard it all the time..."Why get married now when we're so close to the end of this system?..Why get bogged down with all the unnecessary stresses, depression and distractions, when you can marry a perfect man in the new system?" Yes, I fell for it, but I'm moving forward because Life Goes On!! Let's keep fighting!!

I began to wake up from the JW's (Jehovah's Witness) by reading about Mormons and watching videos entitled.."I was a Mormon". Then John Dehlin's excommunication was broadcast on television. I started following him and I noticed a ton of similarities between the JW's and the Mormons. This was an eye-opener for me!! After that I got the courage to go to RU-vid and look up.. "Why do people leave the Jehovah's Witnesses faith"...that's when I really started waking up! I became obsessed listening to all ExJW stories on RU-vid and the FEAR of the "so called" apostates that we are taught to detest started to become a different reality, they are just people telling their experiences when they were an active JW and why they left. So all the stigma started to dwindle. Then I branched out and started looking into Seventh Day Adventist, Scientology, Christadelphians, The Brethren, Christian Science. I started noticing the parallels between all the religions, and it runs deep...no questioning, no doubting and everything comes from the top down. The rank-and-file are just the followers with no personal self, no individuality. After you wake up and start seeing these things it can take a toll on you, especially if this is the only thing you have known all of your life. Therapy is definitely a must when waking up! I can now honestly say that life is better on the outside! 💯

Thank you for talking about what it’s like to be a single woman in the JW world. I spent my 20s trying to hard just to be taken seriously on my own and always felt I had to prove that I was good association. I didn’t go to college and many JWs didn’t understand why I moved out of my parents home at all. So I wanted to get married to help feel more like I belonged but also like an Armageddon Insurance Policy - Maybe if I had a spiritual head I’d be more likely to survive. But yeaaahhh the men who were interested in me were not the types I felt like I could have an intelligent conversation with.

Elders are really "company men" who act as human resource agents for the Watchtower organization. Remember, human resource agents act only in the best interests of the company. Elders search out any who are not loyal to the company, and those who are not actively supporting the policies and mission; as well as, individuals who are not reaching established goals within the corporation. All of these individuals threaten the profitability and outward reputation of of the company, and may affect others in the organization. When individuals inside of the organization/corporation have learned of hypocritical actions, deceitful policies, or lies regarding the actions of representatives of corporation, departments or heads of the corporation (Governing Body) and begin exposing these... Elders (human resource agents of the Watchtower ) are assigned to eliminate or lessen the effects of "whistle blowers" by labeling them "apostates". Once they identify an individual as a "whistle blower" they follow well established company rules and actively pursue any threat that may expose secretive practices, hypocrisy, or harmful or illegal actions that may impact company's profitability. Elders follow corporation guidelines set forth in the exclusive manual for elders, entitled: "Shepherd the Flock of God" published by the WTBTS. 1. To become informed as to the level of knowledge and information a potential whistle blower possesses. 2. Have a formal meeting (Judicial Committee hearing) with them to ascertain the level of dissent or waning support for the organization and threat they pose to the corporation. 3. Formally put the whistle blower on notice their actions constitute disloyalty to the corporation and they will be "fired" from the company losing all benefits and any ties to other members of the corporation. 4. During a congregation meeting ( regularly scheduled corporation workshop) announce the "firing" of those who have failed to follow company rules.

It was always a doomsday cult. It was always destructive and a traumatizing way to be raised, since its inception.

We were definitely raised in a Secret Society with a lot of "Loaded Language" also known as "Word Speak"... It was set up that way to make us feel so special in God's "one true" religion! Many "outsiders" don't relate and that's why a lot of times it's hard to leave the organization and go into the real world because it's like you're living on another planet, but we will find our true identity which they tried to steal from us! I have committed crimes against humanity by pretending to know things I could not possibly know. How? 1. By pretending to know that an undetectable supernatural realm exists that is inhabited by undetectable, all-powerful, immortal beings justly entitled to micromanage every aspect of human existence. 2. By pretending to know that I had a special intimate personal relationship with this supernatural realm despite it being undetectable and unknowable. 3. By pretending to know that I had been ordained by the supernatural world with the authority, and duty to do everything in my power to brainwash children into pretending to know the same unknowable, divisive, and hateful things that I pretended to know. 7. By pretending to know that being tortured in a lake of fire for eternity is just retribution for failing to pretend to know the correct version of unknowable truth, even though it should have been obvious to me that unknowable knowledge cannot possibly be known. 8. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings have endowed me with the exclusive ethical moral authority, knowledge, and duty to recognize, challenge, and advocate prison or death of anyone who dares to spread a blasphemous criticism of pretending to know unknowable knowledge. 9. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had endowed me with the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to restrict the thoughts, questions, facts, narratives, and realities, others may entertain. 10. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had informed me that you are responsible for, and deserve blame for, every hardship you suffer in life. 11. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had informed me that if you fail to dedicate yourself to a life of servitude to undetectable good supernatural beings, it is only because you have willfully chosen a life of servitude to undetectable evil supernatural beings. 12. By pretending to know that it is my righteous duty to visit hate, discrimination, misfortune, hardship, oppression, suffering, and destruction upon those whom my undetectable good supernatural mentors disapprove of. 13. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to ban comprehensive sex education in public schools. 14. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to outlaw sexual conduct that does not conform to the undetectable supernatural realm’s standards of sexual behavior. 15. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to condemn your sexual thoughts, desires, dreams, and fantasies. 16. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had decreed that, without exception, a fertilized egg, zygote, fetus, or unborn baby is endowed with exclusive ownership of and sovereignty over a woman's body, even if that fetus is unviable or dead. 17. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had granted me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to deny women and girls access to contraceptives and abortion services, even if doing so destroys their lives. 18. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had decreed that men are entitled to subjugate women and treat them as though they are chattel property. 19. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to regulate which adults you may or may not cohabitate with, have sex with, love, and/or marry. 20. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to destroy the lives of members of the LGBTQ community, including bullying LGBTQ children to the point of driving them to commit suicide. 21. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to destroy the self-esteem of children who engage in masturbation, making them think they are sexual perverts. 22. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive authority and duty to do everything in my power to restrict the teaching of certain scientific theories in public schools. 23. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive ethical moral authority and duty to do everything in my power to restrict access to certain genres of books, videos, and other educational materials from public schools, public libraries, bookstores, and the internet. 24. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive authority and duty to do everything in my power to ban public school discussions of social justice issues and the oppression faced by people who are different. 25. By pretending to know that undetectable good supernatural beings had delegated to me the exclusive authority and duty to do everything in my power to ban the teaching of certain aspects of human history in public schools.

JWs are heavily indoctrinated to believe the Watchtower Organization is their salvation! The JW's believe everything the Governing Body ( "Anointed" Leaders ) says because they are captive of a concept. They really believe they're in the only true religion on earth, and they're the only ones preaching a lifesaving work. They believe they will see their dead love ones resurrected here on Earth. Also they have the hope to live forever on a paradise Earth! All of these things are very comforting to them. The world in their mind is corrupt and controlled by satan the devil.. NOTHING is good in it!! It's tough, but a JW has to experience his own "personal internal Armageddon"... meaning they will have to have some internal shake-up in their own mind and feelings about an issue. Once this happens they will start to think critically and the veil over their eyes will slowly start to be removed.

She’s onto so many points for someone who’s been out just for a couple of years. That’s impressive. I’d like to hear how’s her relationship with her family now. Are they shunning her? Maybe next time when she comes to the show she can talk about it if she’s ready.
