He was one of the few artists in history that could turn social commentary into a fantastic musical piece as well. Sign o the times is one, controversy was written about the tabloid gossip on his rumoured sexuality and he basically says I am prince and God believes in him, which is part of the lyrics. Pure genius.
Prince, unfortunately, due to fanboys like you, actually falls within the overrated category. Excellent musician overall (vocals were not his strong point, sub par), but overrated. He simply wasn't the musical god/genius you all keep saying he was.
@@Steve-cm2ysWell, the man (genius) was fluent in something like 28 different musical instruments. Amazing. He was one of the 3 most popular solo artists of the 80s…..Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince, and I’d say No. 4 was George Michael. I was 19 when the movie, “Purple Rain” came out. It was an EVENT. My rather large group of friends were pretty obsessed about Prince. He has an insane number of great songs that are original, creative, inventive, and amazing. Prince is a massive music icon.
Whaaattt!!!??? Oh my goodness!! There was only one Prince Rogers Nelson!! No one else can even come close. He could give you so many different sounds, vibes, and sides to his music. That's why I love music from this time. How many artists can give us this kind of creativity today? Prince was on a whole 'nother level I don't think we'll ever see again. I've listened to Prince's music since I was 8 years old. I'll soon be 50. I've always loved Prince and always will!
I won't say my age,but I'm glad I was old enough to see and appreciate Prince. The younger generation missed out on an icon and one of the most talented musician ever😂
@@Steve-cm2ysRoll your eyes all you want but the tributes to him were way more than any other artist when he died. It's one thing if you don't like him or know much about him but his legend speaks for itself. When he appeared on awards shows ALL the celebrities fanned out. Not just the musicians but actors as well. Musicians across all genres respected & admitted him from Steve Vai to assist today so whatever with the emojis.
Prince is the absolute best. That whole concert is fantastic. Y’all should check out more of his live performances. Like P was fond of saying, “ There ain’t nothing like a purple party”. Keep digging through his discography and you will find many many gems! Miss his presence here on earth . ❤
Prince is arguably is the top artist of all time! His overall genius, lyrics (If I was your Girlfriend, flipping the script), musicianship (Playing the lead and bass guitars, drums and keyboards), voice stage presence and more is in another sphere that NOBODY can match!!!!
@@ChanelStuff Oh man, would love for them to do "Gett Off"! Probably the best introduction to the more hip-hop side of Prince from the 90's. "Violet the Organ Grinder" is a really good one too
Great reaction! I miss Prince. I highly recommend reacting to his film "Purple Rain" (1984) on your movie channel. The movie is great, the soundtrack is incredible and it shot Prince's legacy into the stratosphere.
I third that recommendation and would also suggest reviewing Prince's The Sign O' The Times concert film. You could review them on his birthdays June 7 in 2024 and 2025.
Prince is amazing!! You should check out his Super Bowl half time show!! It was fricking awesome. He did Hendrix, Foo Fighters and some of his own hits. Nothing like seeing Purple Rain being performed in the raIn!!! He was pure Magic!
It really was a once in a lifetime performance and I missed it live😥 but thanks to the internet I got to at least see it. You just can't out do an artist like Prince. He had his own style in every aspect of his artistry
@@dtoxbrewer3696 Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember 😄The Midnight Funk Association, flash your lights, blow your horn, turn on your porch light. MOJO could mix! Miss the 80's and 90's R&B and Funk music
@@dtoxbrewer3696 I don't know what you like, but I love Dolby `s Mix and MOJO would compare Prince to Michael Jackson 😄Too different artists.Try Lettigo ,MOJO was the only one I heard play it.
A truly fascinating, flipping traditional gender norms on its head song. There was nothing like this in 1987, and he laid the blueprint for so many artists to do the same. But there’s only one Prince. He was a true one off. Imo the goat 🐐
Prince is one of my Top 5 favorite artists ever. Of course I like this song, but honestly, for me it probably isn’t even in my Top 40 of his best songs…..and it’s a really good song. I agree with someone who said the music industry has been on a MASSIVE decline since 2010 if not a little bit before that. There was still some good music coming out in the 2000s, but the current brand of rap and hip hop is just pathetic. It’s now mostly over-the-top verbal porn. Are any rap and hip hop “artists” (many who don’t even know how to play a musical instrument) even capable of remotely intelligent lyrics about anything besides body parts and getting off? 🧐🤯 I do like Nelly, however….I have since 2003. And I have to admit there is some Doja Cat songs I like. And Nicki Minaj does have talent at what she does.
This song was so.. before it's time... Amber caught that concept perfect... A lot of people misunderstood it.. When he first brought this out.... But nevertheless a big big big hit... The female with him was katt.. legendary dancer from Chicago.. she was at her peak about this time. Everybody wanted her to be their choreographer..But Prince was so big she chose to be his backup dancer Instead! ...Definitely a classic......RIP Legend
Ohhhhh you're getting into his "Sign O'the Times" album. That was such a good one. You gotta check out "Hot Thing" and the title track. "Gett Off" and "Seven" are also brilliant from a few years later on. He just has so many amazing songs from so many amazing albums "Delirious", "Let's Pretend We're Married", "Alphabet Street", "Pop Life"... The list is very long.
he dropped this album with no press! just looked in the new releases and there it was! Sign O The Times still debuted at number 3 he was just on that highest level!
Prince could do it all by himself. Played many instruments. Not many artists can go in the studio and come out with a track. Miss him very much. There will never be another Prince. He was a legend. Gone to soon...
Interesting choice. Prince was a music god. "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man" is another good one to try. Also interesting you chose this version. RU-vid may not let you play the album version.
Legendary. Iconic. A true, original ARTIST! There’ll never be another like him. Under the Cherry Moon, Pink Cashmere, so many. You could do a whole month of his songs! 💜
The first time I saw Prince live was around '83/'84. He made love to a bed...that's all I can say!😊 Watch his Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. His live performance on Oprah, his Superbowl halftime and his impromptu concert the DAY BEFORE for a room full of reporters!, on Arsenio Hall, his live concert in Philly when he gets Patti Labelle to come up. And on and on! ❤❤❤ The greatest. RIP.😢
Prince is my all-time favourite artist. Always evolving, always getting better. This is one of the deeper cuts off the Sign 'O' the Times album, which is at the top of my list-a double album of pure genius, with a feature-length concert movie to support it. So good! Thanks for the reaction and for finding a way to get this reaction published. Folks who block this kind of video make me sad, because they don't understand the incredible positive impact a good reaction can have on their product and sales.
You can’t go wrong with Prince! He’s the best! It’s an artistry that will never be duplicated. I can’t wait to see y’all do another Prince reaction video cause i love y’all’s reaction to it! Awesome video! 💜💜💜
ALWAYS AMAZING PRINCE!! 😍🥰 I have never seen this live version before and I’ve been a fan since I was 12 years old. This song was one of my favorites back in the day. Thank you, thank you for this!
Wonderful reaction!!!! Please do more of Prince. This was from the concert movie “Sign O the Times” (1987). My request is that you react to this movie!!! Or take songs from it to react to. It will expand your catalog of him. You will not be disappointed! Sheila E. is the drummer, Kat Glover is the dancer, and a host of other top musicians. Forever 💜💜💜
Prince wrote this to his then fiancée Susannah Melvoin, his guitarists twin sister. He spoke through his music. It was about her closeness with/her sister & him wondering if he was that close to her. She said he was always working & wanted her to be there when he was ready to spend time. She broke it off. This is the Sign O the Times concert filmed after they broke up & he got new musicians fired the Revolution. He even played ALL the instruments on his first 5 albums & did most of the songs for other groups he created & gave them the guide track to just re-sing. Genius!!!💜💜💜💜💜
You know he had high heels on. He was just 5'2 which really bothered him. That might just be why he was so great at everything else. R.I.P to the man who stood head and shoulders above most other artist in music
Love love love Prince sine i was teenager in 80s.. I cried like a baby when he died...my kids knew if movie purple rain was on they knew NOT to to interrupt me
Moral of the story, be your significant other's best friend. Prince could make *anything* look sexy, make *any* instrument weep and sing, and use his voice to melt you or rev you up. I'm going to suggest "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" by him; I think Amber in particular would really love it.
This song is from an Iconic album called “ Sign of the Times” .. this album is considered one of his bests.. from ballads to social commentary, he covers the whole sprectrum. At this time he disbanded his original band ( The Revolution). The new band is called the New Power Generation. This video is from a concert/ video collection called “ Sign of the Times”” I recommend this title and “ I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man”…enjoy❤
My favorite song by Prince. It's so many song in his catalog. I use to sing at karaoke every night. Insatiable, when to are in love, the beautiful ones ,poplife, scandalous just some of my favorites by Prince.
Hey y'all! You've gotta explore the music he did for the Batman movie in 1989. He produced an entire album dedicated as the soundtrack to that classic film. Fun fact: Jack Nicholson, who played the Joker, was such a huge fan of Prince that he personally lobbied for him to do the soundtrack.
I always preferred the Purple One to the Gloved One. Prince did it all and the fact that so many of his songs were huge hits for other artists puts him miles ahead of MJ in my eyes.
If you've ever wanted to introduce your littles to a fun Prince song, may I suggest "Starfish & Coffee" - it's an absolutely delightful little tune that he even performed with the Muppets lol. Never fails to put a smile on my face!
1:46 Some of his songs are better than others, but you can't go wrong with Prince 💜💯He draws all your attention towards what he's going to do next! He's from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I wish he was from Michigan 😆
I just thank the music gods that let me see Prince in concert a few years before he died. He basically did a greatest hits tour and it was magnificent.
Was just WAITING for your reactions to this video, once I saw it in today's lineup!! ❤❤❤❤❤ PRINCE was ONE OF A KIND!!! Never be another. RIP, PRINCE - WE MISS YOU! Great reaction, You-Guys!! The move you were talking about, at the end of the video: HOW could ANYONE stop WATCHING at THAT POINT, RIGHT??!!! Just too drawn-in!! He DID THAT!! Just MAGNETISM!!!
Prince. Talent. Talent. Talent. A mentor. A song writer. A lyricist. A multi instrument musician. A dancer. Unique. A vocalist. One of the greatest guitarist ever. R.I.P. Sinatra - That's Life. Steely Dan - Peg, Hey 19, Aja, Babylon Sisters, Kid Charlemagne, Deacon Blues, FM( No Static ), Don't Take Me Alive.
LOL Speaking of high heels Charley Murphy (Eddies Brother) tells how Prince use to kick everyone's butt in B-Ball while dressed to the nines...heels and all. The guy was from another planet!
Whew what a great song! Its from his Sign of the Times album. And yes he wore and danced in heels bc he was so short (5'2" or 5'3" depending on the source). But we didn't care bc he was so fine, sexy and talented. And while he does have some great music videos, they don't compare to the album versions of his songs where he really demonstrates his music creativity and versatility. For ex, the 1999 album is a double album with several songs over 6 min long but you wouldn't know it from the music videos and some album compilations. Also, another content creator stated that his Prince music video reviews kept getting blocked so he's just reviewing the album versions of his songs. So yours aren't the only videos getting blocked.
You guys are a beautiful couple. Blessings to you both! I saw Prince in concert 3x in NY at MSG. It was electric before the concert - overwhelming during the concert and even the atmosphere after the concert was unbelievable. We were trying to digest what we could barely comprehend. The things he did to the women were unspeakable but his what he did to the instruments were otherworldly. He timing and knack for the dramatics - unbelievable. He'd turn MSG and NY out! Ohh - and when he was young he abused himself with his dancing - he loved jumping off speakers and ladders, slits, working the microphone stand!
Prince is the GOAT! I was wondering y you guys hadn't posted any more of his videos. Is RU-vid still blocking his videos? Even from his RU-vid channel? That's crazy! This video is from his "Sign O The Times" movie released in 1987. One of the greatest concert films ever. Check it out!
LMAO!!!!...LOL>>>>>hahaha...I like what Amber said, "It is not fair that all that can be in one man's body!" Hahahaaha....tha is a GREAT Respose!!! Can you just for one second Imagine what my generation thought when we experienced Prince for the first.....and I saw him performed atThe whiskey A Go-Go Club in L.A. with my friends at the time....and there were some things in the concert that was pretty shocking, but that's another story. Hahaha......yeah Stevie Wonder....David Bowie....then Prince ,,,and Michael Jackson......absolutely!!!!
As a die hard Prince fan since the age of 9 , this is one of my favorite Prince songs. It’s off Sign o’ the Times one of my favorite albums of his . 💜👩🏻🦰👍🏻. The album version is worth a listen. It has a slightly different cadence. Still sexy. I guarantee he was always wearing heels until he got older and had trouble with his hips. He still rocked the platform shoes.
Prince was full of confidence on stage performing, but was super shy doing interviews. Sorry if I am suggesting songs you have already done, but based off the songs y’all seem to like the most, I know you will like these. Santana, Black Magic Woman Joe Walsh, Funk #49 Doobie Brothers, Long train Runnin’ And for Female Friday, Etta James, I’d Rather Go Blind
Prince was such a unique performer and that is an understatement! He could play any instrument, sing, song write, be a frontman, dance, have crazy on-stage charisma and do it all at an insanely high level. To be that good, you have to have God given talent, but also, the amount of work he must have put in consistently to be at the top of his game like this is astounding. it wasn't just a stage persona, he must have actually lived it, there is no way just to turn that on. One of the few artists back in to 80s/90s I was not able to see live and I truly regret it. Will never be another.
