re 14:34 is there an installation code for major power cables out in the open (UV, high temperatures?). I heard about big oil/gas pipes coming above the surface in a hot climate requiring a kind of a roof, otherwise things got blistering hot and the protective coatings would fail.

The parking garage is officially open from next week. That’s also the end of the overflow lot. And half of the old testing & calibration lot is currently for employee EV only parking. Happy Independence Day everyone. 🇺🇸
The "Orange Flexible Conduit " are known as CABLE DUCTS. They come in several colors, Orange, Blue, White, Black. Of many different sizes, they are used in underground ducts, overhead indoor and outdoor. Multistrand fiber cables are easily pulled through them and can be modified/augmented with care. They are waterprrof, weatherproof, but not really backhoe proof.
It is a great achievement for Tesla it will make a lot more people look closer at what Tesla and all the workers at all levels do. it will also make the knocker's who try to down play what is truly happening. I must say Joe, that you to are part of that team as you advertise Tesla in a big way with your videos that are on the internet. what fantastic advertising that is. well done.
Joe, since you have been watching what has been happening for so long from the outside, it will be great when you get to see where all that equipment that saw going in ended up! I hope they let you film the inside too then you can tell us all about it later! Hope they eventually use more long root native and adapted plant species to secure and maintain the soil. Should keep down dust by providing permeable ground cover, reduce mud and flooding by absorbing water, save irrigation and groundskeeping expenses, and look pretty.

Lots of network intercommunication on campus. Not sure where the main backbone enters the area, but I would wqger heavily there are several interconnects from different directions. Of course, an installation across/under the highway was accomplished across from the West entrance. Austin is a major Interconnect between the major and minor carriers, with many POPs in the area.

A 500MW power plant can supply roughly 360,000 homes according to Google, so I'm guessing a power plant is being constructed somewhere because of Giga Texas future power requirements.
Kind of puzzling that they're parking new MYs on the top level of the garage when there seems to be plenty of room in the various outbound lots. Someone with better distance measuring skills on Google Earth can figure out how far the cars need to be driven from the factory exit to the top level then eventually down and back across to the EOL facility and outbound lots.
From time to time there seems to be 'batches' of vehicles parked separately from the main yards. Several times over the years the area north of the WOW (currently staff parking) has been used for this purpose. Speculating it's production for particular market. Get them all together and ship them in one group.
It will be fascinating to see if Tesla eventually extends the rooftop solar array to include most, if not all of the new extension. Given the eventual 500MW power draw the new data centre will require, they most definitely should do. Although not a shareholder myself, I still paid close attention to Elon's comments relating to "scraping the pennies off of part's costs" in order to assist with affordability of vehicles for customers & how hard this is to do. To my mind, if you can't do that one way, you absolutely need to deploy another strategy; self-generated renewable ⚡ & battery storage is an extremely low hanging fruit when you have this much rooftop & land real estate freely available to you. As the saying goes: There's more than one way to skin a cat. Were I to be a shareholder, I'd be extremely annoyed to think that Tesla wasn't serious about doing everything in its power to reduce operating costs, increase profitability, and earnings per share.
@@DavidJohnson-tv2nn as I understand it, a lightning strike that hits the earth causes electromagnetic disturbances that could fry certainly low-voltage circuits. A business-critical datacenter may require a complete Faraday-cage plus earthing of all in- and outgoing circuits. The usual protection (like the high poles around a launch pad at the Cape) work according to the umbrella principle: the highest point of attraction protects everything around and under it like an umbrella. For a flat roof like on the main building the solution is to have many small poles scattered over the roof and amongst the solar arrays. I think I've already seen some in the time that Jeff did his regular roof overflights.

Hopefully a true expert can chip in. But I agree with you that the future presence of a giga-datacenter triggers a lot of interesting questions and I think it is great fun to follow up amateur-fashion by googling Protecting A Datacenter From A Lightning Strike: to learn something new! The amount of info that then floods in is awesome, it really seems to be an essential feature, you've hit pay-dirt! Right now this type of help-yourself approach seems especially relevant with no inside clarification coming out after Joe's visit, none whatsoever! It is rather harsh I feel, towards a very large and loyal audience, compared to the Red Carpet treatment that was bestowed on Sandy Munro recently.

NOTICE if you will the ABSENCE of the red & white trucks used to transport tunnel liners into the bore. These trucks will be needed to transport tunnel road deck sections into the bore as well. Why do you suppose they have been removed? !
Do they need it? Can't they use some sort of modified forklift or new contraption that drops the concrete panel down and continues to drive over the surface and install panels as it goes?
The TBM did the installation of the tunnel liner segments. It's gone, so you need something new that doesn't need to have angled wheels to drop off and install the roadbed panels.
