Saw the movie today and she was fine. Her character evolves over the course of the movie ie. her character is more likable in later scenes vs earlier scenes when she is more cynical and self interested.
A strong woman is someone who is confident in who they are and has compassion for others. A mother, ceo, janitor, etc it doesn’t matter. Nowadays a strong woman is a miserable single person who makes good money lol
I don't even watch new, mainstream movies anymore. I just wait for film essays on RU-vid to give me all the ends and outs of how bad they are so I don't have to waste my money lol. Needless to say I've saved close to $300 this year because of these videos and I'm eternally grateful
Ditto. If I hear something is awesome, then I’ll shell out. It’s crazy to pay theatre prices for the drivel coming out lately just because it’s “there.”
Ghostbusters (2016) remake, anyone? THAT one? That joyless, joke-free, 'hilarious' one? The one with 4 (aye - FOUR) eh, sassy, strong, "hilarious" ('cause they said so), empowered wimmen? It was HILARIOUS! Because they told us. About as hilarious as a childs funeral. Yikes!
The vast majority of women hate feminism because it demands that they become something they do not want to be. My Mum detested it, as does my wife and my daughter. It's the same almost everywhere but of course the empty vessels make the most noise.
Women can spot misandry just as well as misogyny. Misandry is far worse than misogyny in my opinion. It’s dangerous. You need both the left and the right wings to fly.
It's nice finding a woman who is a realist and not another weirdo who spends way too much time in the festering bowels of the internet and social media.
That face punch knocked him out long enough for him to be dragged onto the plane, dragged back through time, dragged back to the US, stuck in his apartment, his murder charges cleared and his marriage fixed.
This movie shows why people like old Bruce Wayne in Batman Beyond, Old Logan in Logan, and old Charles Xavier in Logan. They were past their respective primes, but still carried a grace and dignity about themselves. It was interesting to see their interaction with the younger generations while playing prominent roles that worked with their current capabilities.
@@NGRevenantyep. Dial of Destiny makes Crystal Skull look good. And the defiling that Lucas and Spielberg did to their own creation looks PG compared to the rape Kathleen Kennedy has done!
That's the main problem. Mangold did Logan (as well as a history of solid films) AND Dial of Destiny. However, he sold out his soul to Kathleen Kennedy's Lucasfilm in destroying Indy.
Ugh I pray they never touch this franchise again. It's incredibly odd to not only now feel Crystal Skull is a decent movie, but to actually miss Mutt Williams.
The female characters fight scene in Extraction 2 is brutal and honest. That character perfectly compliments her male counterpart without diminishing him.
Extraction 2 was much more believable. For the most part, women can't fight like men. They have to adapt to a fighting style to suit their smaller, lighter builds. 120 pound woman can't produce blunt-force trauma with her punches on a 250 pound man. They can beat a man that size with speed, agility, guns, knives, or improvise with an object.
I thought that Extraction 2 ruined Nik Khan, the female lead, who had a perfect ending in the first film. Extraction was a near perfect action flick, the second seemed like a rejected script from the Fast & Furious franchise.
I saw Indy get hurt, punched, lynched, shot in this film many of times. While his horse faced co-star never broke a nail, while jumping from car to car, from motorcycle to plane, deep diving, rock climbing, jumping buildings in heels etc. This lady was invincible to any adversity. She was knocking men out, with one punch. It's absurd, because she's omniscient and all powerful. I'm not sure why she needed cash so bad, because the way she's written all she needed to do was pick a few stocks and it would have made her the world's richest person. I do agree that Fleabag is an accurate description of this person though.
Interesting description Ralph - "....horse faced co-star....", considering the script obviously shot out of the south end of a northbound horse (yep, I just nicked that one from Quigley Down Under - now THAT'S still a great flick, time to rewatch, methinks).
Stronk wahman feminist lead is actually portrayed as drop dead attractive in the film, haha. So props on the thumbnail as you found literally the worst static image of her possible! Bravo!
The only thing that requires more ‘suspension of disbelief’ than Phoebe being attractive is that Shia Lebuffe would actually join the military. [sigh] If only the fridge hadn’t been nuke proof… we wouldn’t be here today.
Gosh Helena’s awful. But Damn I forgot they made Indie’s old love interest smack him? With force too! This is unrelated but damn that trope is hopefully dying out 😅.
Last Crusade was one of the last movies I went to see with my dad given his health. I was 13 at the time and it really blew our minds. Skip ahead In time I took my little boys to see the Crystal Skull. I thought it was cheezy but ok, while my oldest son demanded I let him stay and watch when I had to take his little brother to the bathroom several times, which I made him come with us. In 2017 I took them both to see the Last Jedi and my oldest who was 12 or so by then said it wasn't a movie for him. A few days ago I jokingly asked my oldest who is now a UCI student if he wanted to see Indy 5 and he looked at me and said "no," this is where Lucasfilm now stands. Was it worth it for them?
I have Seen all of indys movies and "Cristal Skull" was an "ok" movie. It was not the "disaster" many say. COMPARED with the 3 previous ones OF COURSE that it would look "no so good" because Indy is older and cant to many of stuff he did when he was younger without it looking "false" but at least THAT MOVIE WAS RESPECTUL to and older Indy, BUT HE STILL KICK 4SS AND IS WITTY AND HAVE A STRONG WILL, IS BRAVE he keeps being INDY. Yes, it gives him "a chessy" but NICE "happy ending" for an older guy: a happy family to spent the rest of his days and raise him to a better professional position at his work(they make his an associate of the university). Meaning a promising family future with a good payment for his older days. The end. I WILL TAKE THAT AS THE END OF INDY ANY DAY OF THE WEEK , instead of this 5TH MOVIES THAT IS A DISRESPECTUL DESTROY OF THE CHARACTER we love. The guy we see in this 5th movie IS NOT INDY AT ALL. ITS OLD HARRISON FORD MAKING MONEY FOR A PAYCHECK, BUT NOT INDY. He doesnt play Indy in the entire movie. So for me Cristal skull was the not perfect but "ok" end for INDY. The 5th movie is a pile of S*it
I was a student at UCLA and remember seeing the original 1981 film with some fraternity brothers in Westwood Village. My own kids (a bit older than your son) have zero interest in this film -- BAD NEWS for Disney
Agree! I also went to see TLC with my dad, and he was a Bond/Connery fan, so it made it extra special. The Last Jedi was the first ruining of one of my childhood heroes. This movie was the ruining of my other childhood hero. I just pray KK doesn't get her hands on Rocky!
@@multiversehacking Yeah the Last Jedi really screwed things, but that was the point. KK and her crew didn't want kids like my sons to be part of the Star Wars fan base, let alone middle aged guys like us.
FFS woman! As a veteran of 28 years in the Australian Army, I’ve heard some ‘unique owns,’ but my god, your barbs and wit are sharper than the focus of the JWST. Leaving me laughing so hard I had an out of body experience, by the end of the review I honestly couldn’t tell you if I were f_cked, Shot or snake-bit! To quote Blazing Saddle, “you use your tongue better than a twenty dollar whore….”
Great review, but what a shame this movie is. I was looking forward to it, but i don't think i will watch it now since everything about it seems mediocre at best and a punch in the face for Indy fans at worst. Life sucks. ☹😔💔
@@VexElectronicainteresting fact Phoebe waller bridge is a transgender man. Possibly the best transgender actor in Hollywood. Give her a break for all that male energy. She was a post pubescent transition
"We need to keep doing what we're doing because in the future we'll be hailed as prophets who were far ahead of our time." -- The internal dialogue of the people at Disney.
A lot of nitpicking here to miss the major point of the movie. This movie isn’t about the chase for the MacGuffin. Indy has become old. That happens to people. The world has passed him by. His students aren’t enthusiastic for his class or him, and even that thankless job has come to an end. His son is dead. His wife has left him. He is alone. He is in despair. He doesn’t want this last adventure. He is conned into it by a woman who, Heaven forbid, is independent and self confident. And yes, implausible things happen - as if the events of the other films made perfect sense. But remarkably, in the end, Indy comes home to the end of his quest at home to old friends at peace with himself…his adventures concluded. It was a formulaic movie with chases and fights because the audience expected them to be there, but it was also, for those who looked a little closer, a touching story of a career at its end and the fitting end of the saga.
Can you tell Helena is a self insert? Oh Hollywood, your so shallow and self indulged. Maybe when the movie industry finally goes bankrupt we can start over with better people involved.
Helena is just a greedy drunk that the movie then tries to show development into caring for Indy...I mean what a perfect person to pass the torch to...She is totaly unworthy of taking on the mantle of Indiana Jones.
I've noticed how she always covers up that black spot on her head..... It's blatantly a mark from her previous life where she was probably shot for hating men 😂
What did you guys think of Indiana Jones 5? Let me know in the comments below, and Happy Independence Day to my American friends! 🥳 Much love to you all and see you in a few weeks for Barbie! 💕 PS - Memberships are live 🎉
My mind is blown to consider that what we got was after numerous rewrites, reshoots and the removal of what was perceived as Waller-Bridge's worst put downs of Indi - so this final product is improved... from what, we can barely imagine. What a waste of time and money.
😅😅😅😂😂😂 When another woman is willing to call a "strong female character" that describes herself as "Resourceful, Daring, Beautiful and Self-sufficient" as a stupid bitch (LOL!!), that's when you know this movie has problems! GAWD, what a horrible movie this is. And IMHO, Helena ain't nuthin' to look at compared to Elsa (Alison Doody) ❤❤ from The Last Crusade - my personal favorite female in the Indiana Jones trilogy.
In a sane world, they’d just recast Indiana Jones with a younger charismatic actor (like Ryan Gosling), and make a kickass adventure story - and drown in billions of dollars of profit.
What moron thought it was a good idea to have a woman mock an 80 year old man, continuously, in his own movie? They should be fired! Hollywood has become so degenerate now that they don't even know what it means to be courteous to a character who is loved by miilions of fans anymore.
Listen, Lara Croft And Sarah Conor are strong female characters. And Im a woman , so I can say that I dont understand why every female lead now is have to be looking like ezra miller and have obnoxious, unpleasent, and even toxic personality . They are erasing classical beauty - face and body, because it offends somebody . Cancelled disney plus last week.
Yes, could not agree more, her and Konnie Haque. And both have a disgusting huge mole on their face. Fleabag's mole is on her forehead and that is why her hair is glued to her forehead most of the time. Ugly does not do justice in describing Fleabag's appearance.
A far better movie could have been made with an aging Indiana Jones and his son returned from Viet Nam. Leboeuf would have replayed the role of the son, this merging nicely into the film. Lots could have been done with the role of Marion. BUT Woke ideology has prevailed destroying the Indiana Jones franchise for the cheap rewards of political correctness. RIP Indiana!
Despite what you may think of Shia LaBeouf, what they did to the character of Mutt makes absolutely no sense. By the time he would enlisted in Vietnam he would have been 31. His character was an anti-estalishment biker raised by a liberal mother and the only father figure was a crazy academic. Why would he have enlisted in an unpopular war at that point in his life that his character would never have supported in the first place?
I hate what Disney’s doing with these so-called “strong” female characters, and I’m a feminist. They have a really scuffed idea of what “strong” means. Disney seems to think that traits often thought as “feminine”, like compassion, sensitivity, bring motherly, etc. are actually bad and/or weak! Instead, they just slap a bunch of “masculine” traits on their female characters and act like THAT’S the only way a woman can be strong - by acting more like men! Gee, really progressive, Disney. What’s worse, they give the characters some of the worst “masculine” traits as well. I mean, sure, they make them courageous, but they also make them really headstrong, overconfident, unfeeling… they’re just obnoxious, arrogant know-it-alls, they’re just not likable at all. And they have almost no adversity or weakness to overcome, they’re just perfect from the start. They can overcome any challenge right off the bat, with little to no training, and they almost never fail at anything. If the bad guys ever one-up her, it’s never a major loss, just a minor setback - they never lose spirit, or reach a low point. That’s because Disney won’t let their “strong and independent female characters” ever show a moment of weakness, they’ll never need a friend to pick them up… that would mean she’s not “strong”! That’s such bullshit! Strength of a character comes from the challenges they face and eventually overcome, despite struggling and failing along the way. It comes from the mistakes they make and how they learn from them! “Oh, but our strong female characters can’t possibly make mistakes, they’re perfect, unlike those lame and pathetic males!” Another problem is how Disney loves to absolutely butcher established characters and shit on their legacy, just so they can set them up to be replaced by their new and “better”, strong female character. And just to rub salt in the wound, the new character is shown to be stronger and more skilled in every way, and they flaunt how much better they are right in the former iconic heroes’ faces! “But it’s okay, because they deserve it! No matter how kind-hearted and heroic they acted in the past, they’re MEN, so they have to be taken down! They’re not fighting for equality, but for supremacy.
Very good review 👍👍 i will never watch anything with phoebe waller bridge in it. No talent, no charisma. This should not be called Indiana Jones 5... it should be titled "helena'ss crap adventure " it will be a long time for me to watch a Disney film again.
So many franchises destroyed because Kathleen Kennedy keeps insisting on idolized versions of herself as lead characters .... the amount of continental drift between 1939 to 1969 would be about 30 inches so that's silly
The continental drift thing was dumb. If the calculations were wrong, they wouldn't be going to the wrong time - they wouldn't have found the time fissure at all. Finding the time fissure proved that the antikythera worked. And really, in 2000 years, continental drift would have accounted for about 2,5 meters. And besides, seeing Archie in his tomb with a wrist watch would have proven to them that he _had_ had some contact with the future, and therefore could absolutely have known about continental drift.
KKK is ruining everything in Disney, when will the Board of directors realize that she is a destroyer and losing money 📉 , I can't believe she is mad about being a coffee secretary and she got to see the creation of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, then she wants to destroy them for no reason whatsoever. Also that Fleabag isn't sexy as Lara Croft.
How could the Disney executives approve such an unlikeable character as the main heroine which would lead to box office disaster? Oh wait, KK approved this! Makes sense.
I can't believe they missed out on the chance for Indy to reconnect with Short Round as a surrogate son to heal the wound of losing a son. It would have been so powerful and moving. Short Round could have taken up the Indy mantle easily.
Does Harrison Ford have any old characters left which he would like to kick in the groin? Maybe he could go back to the Amish and have someone drive a horse and cart over John Book's zimmer frame walking corpse.
At least with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull they were trying to make a good film. And Kingdom of the Crystal Skull made a lot of money, so it was no failure there, even after he first week. Dial of Destiny is only interested in making a woman Indy. The woke crap will destroy every time.
Many could care less if Hollywood wants to stay woke untill they go broke. We just would appreciate it if they could stop the putting down of male characters just to prop up these female characters. It infuriating.
Raiders was a classic and after the mediocre sequel they should've stopped making these movies. Phoebe Waller is one of the most unlikable actresses in the world with absolutely no star power.
The only winner here is Harrison Ford, he's "retiring" but like wrestlers of old, once he gets a juicy contract he comes back because he knows fans are crazy and wants to always see him even though it doesn't make sense
The only thing that requires more ‘suspension of disbelief’ than Phoebe being attractive is that Shia Lebuffe would actually join the military. [sigh] If only the fridge hadn’t been nuke proof… we wouldn’t be here today
The only thing that Kennedy could have done more to destroy Indiana Jones, like Luke Skywalker, was to make them both aging transgenders, ready to be replaced by butch lesbians
I-a long-time Indy fan-have decided not to watch the movie. My son said, "It's not that bad, Dad. Go watch it." Your video is the one I've chosen to show him if he tells me again. You've captured EXACTLY how I feel about what I've seen/heard/read about the movie and put it in a way better fashion than I could ever describe. Thanks, Vex!
1981 ; 'Raiders' - bought to you by men. "TOP! MEN"! 2023 ; 'Indiana Jones and the Dildo of Dumb' - bought to you by wimmen power. Eh, "YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY??????".
If I was you and my son thought that this movie wasn`t that bad .Maybe you should seat down with that kid and pour him a Bud Light and tell him about the birds and bees
Not to be disrespectul but I cant understand HOW your son thinks "its not so bad"🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️. I am a woman AND I HATED IT TO THE BITS. The only way your son thinks this its "ok" is IF HE NEVER WATCHED ANY INDIANA JONES MOVIE, OR HE NEVER LIKED THE CHARACTER VERY MUCH. There is no way ANYONE who loved Indy can think this movie is "ok". FOR CHRIST SAKE... I kid you not (sadly) but it was the destruction of Luke Skywalker ALL OVER AGAIN...they DESTROY Indys character and personality, they DESTROY HIS FAMILY AND KILL HIS SON, only to have him miserable and broken enough to be "saved" OR BETTER PUT: REPLACED by the insufferable FWB. And "saved" is a saying, because she dont give a flying F about indy. Really whoever write this movie MUST BE A WOKE PERSON. Because they give 💩 about the character we love, but all of they care is to INSERT THEIR WOKE NEW CHARACTERS while killing our old ones. Is a disaster. I WATCHED IT LAST NIGHT just because my father saw it in "the web", so I had to help him saw it and we saw it together(my father likes indys movies so I have planned not to take him to watch this mess). 10 minutes later my father was sad to see such an old and miserable indy... it made sad to see him dissapointed because he taught it was just like the other movies. He lost interest after 30 minutes and went to sleep, but I keep watching to see if it was so terrible. Its a disaster, depressing movie that should have never being made. PERIOD. The end of indy was Cristal Skull. Not a perfect endind, but and ok ending. This 5th movie is a load of crap NOT ABOUT INDY AT ALL . ITS ABOUT FWB AND HER TAKING THE MANTLE OF INDY BY DESTROYING HIM. To hell with this movie.
I'm glad people are finally learning to avoid these overbudgeted lectures disguised as stories. It just hurts me that all these old heroes have been deliberately torn to shreds for the sake of ideology.
I found this movie to be pretty boring. And it was way too long, it dragged. The scenarios were just so far fetched and ridiculous. It didn't have the excitement of earlier Indiana Jones films. A total waste of 2 and a half hours and $17.00.
