Yeah - the exhaust exits right at the transmission, so I'm wondering if that missed shift was because the sound was so loud it messed up the TCU to communicate the shift. I had to lift off the throttle to get it to shift - lol
I noticed that with my M35X too, doesn't bang off the rev limiter but it seems to hold a gear too long when I do a pull and I have to kinda let off the throttle a lil bit to get it to shift into the next gear
Yeah I fully straight piped mine a few weeks ago, and I love it so much, the cold starts in the morning when I drop it in reverse it sounds cammed. Absolutely love mine… but I’m hella jealous abt your bumper, I really wanna get one. But I’m currently saving money for tint. A chrome wrap, and some wheels wince I just bought the car.
And btw mine before and after with the exit out the back it didn’t cause any engine knock and it didn’t retard the timing. So it could be the dumped exhaust right by your trans. Just finish the pipes all the way too the back
Sounds great always wanted to do that to my q45 but I get my self in enough trouble as is. By the way just letting you no not talking smack but straight pipe is actually no muffler. This car with an alluminium block the crazy multi port adjustable intake manifold and titanium valves it has would just sound nuts!
What high flow Cat did you use? I'm waiting to save up for the ppe headers but in the meantime would like some high flow cats to try to resolve my p0420 code, thanks man! appreciate the build!
North Scottsdale probably saw a paycheck there. I knew they were full of it when he said they didn't have to take the stock exhaust off but because mine wasn't stock it was in the way 🤣🤣🤣 like come on man, I'm not an idiot. Haha
@@ctjohn4909 PPE Headers and a PPE full exhaust. They prototyped it on my car right before Covid hit - but I don't think they are selling it at the moment because of that.
Hi. I have 2012 M56S. I have 2 questions. I checked with infiniti and they stated that there is no recall on my car. And secondly what exhaust setup, from the headers to the tail pipe do you have?
I have the PPE Headers and Since PPE used my car to prototype the headers they made me a full exhaust using magnaflow straight through resonators mufflers and hiflo cats. www.ppeengineering-onlinestore.com/Infiniti-M56-Q70-V8_c134.htm conceptzperformance.com/ppe-engineering-headers-infiniti-m56-155601-ss_p_74148.php 2 places to buy the headers, but the exhaust I don't think they offer yet.
There are a lot of parts from other Infiniti and Nissan cars that work and then there are some that don't so it can be challenging to try to figure that stuff out, but coilovers, suspension, exhaust, intakes, all the stuff that counts is easy. There just isn't any turbo or supercharger stuff out there that just bolt on. Uprev is the tuning platform but hptuners is also a tuning platform that is available too.
@@TheHoggman are there intakes, headers, and tunes available? I was looking at a chevy ss and a 5th gen camaro ss and this looks like it’s in the same class as them
@@koyotekev5082 Headers are from PPE, the exhaust on my car is from PPE as well but there are other vendors. Anything Chevy related or LS related will have tons more aftermarket support. Way more than this car - The price tag on a Chevy SS is a tough pill to swallow and a Camaro is a 2 seater so I'm not sure they're in the same ballpark.
Most aftermarket performance support will have to be custom made, or retrofitted off of other nissan 5.6L models and infiniti 3.7L models, the latter mostly in terms of exhaust mods.
I'm enjoying the video I am participating in the drag race with m56s car in Korea I ordered a pee header and received it in Korea Is there an engine oil cooler and mission oil cooler on the vehicle?
@@TheHoggman Didn't you install the mission oil cooler separately? The Jatco 7-layer mission is not very durable, so I'm worried that the mission will slip
@@우찌야노 I didn't do a transmission oil cooler, only an engine oil cooler. The valve train requires good oil pressure to operate correctly and if there's any deviation from desired oil pressure there's and opportunity for the engine to run at reduced engine power. This is a common 370z problem with the VVEL technology. If I were to take it to a track day road course then I would add a transmission cooler too.
Yup - the same VK56VD engine but slightly different. The truck has an engine driven fan where the m56 has all electric fans. This means the belt routing is a little different. I spoke with Harrop and they were interested in helping get the supercharger for me but they just didn't have any in stock at the time and the project fizzled out. I decided to go turbo 😎😎
I love it I just was thinking about buying one. To me this is so underrated I just came across your channel and subscribed can’t wait to see the journey on it keep it coming
I am no professional but it's my understanding that mufflers help create the necessary back pressure to the engine which helps the engine in creating torque output. When messing with your exhaust system the consequences are not only your emissions but your vehicles performance as well.
Your dealership is lazy AF. Love the attitude about it though. Those open headers sounds Alot better than I thought too! Feel of power loss could probably be from lack of resistance
@@NatoriousGamePlay think of it like TQ. Lower RPMs, the less throttle that needs applied to keep moving with SOME resistance in exchange for power in the upper band.
@@Chinese_Chicken back pressure is bad. Always. The amount of back pressure you want is 0. The only reason there is any is that it's a compromise in design. You can get better scavenging of exhaust if the diameter is smaller. Velocity and complex physics I don't fully understand. That's why going too big causes a decrease in power. People took that and confused back pressure with being useful
@@NatoriousGamePlay restriction creates backpressure. Normally want a little restriction because it creates minimal backpressure, but yields the right amount of velocity. Too large of exhaust will give zero backpressure and creates very low velocity, that's the feeling of decreased power. The amount of backpressure ideally would be vehicle dependent. My Tundra had no backpressure/restriction after a swapped exhausts. I bent the end (mandrel) of the exhaust around my axle, like a curve and it created the pwr in the low RPMs that I wanted, and mpgs went from 10 hwy to 12. This is where restriction/backpressure is good.
I had the exact same thing happen with bouncing off the limiter in regular drive mode. This happened the day after I straight piped mine and added an x pipe. It only did it once in a similar speed pull on the highway and never did it again after. Maybe the computer does detect less backpressure or registers it as knock as you said? not too sure but mine stopped doing this even when i do nasty pulls, maybe it overtime adjusted on its own?
@@TheHoggman thats strange, i didnt have any issues in the low end nor power loss. then again i have stock headers and primaries so my setup is slightly different.
