I don't like being rushed to do something. If I'm warned ahead of time that something needs to be done in this specified amount of time, or by this day, I'm fine. However, when I'm working on something and someone keeps bothering me like, "You're not finished yet?!?" I just want them to go away.

Agree with all of these: Unannounced visitors, private numbers, people invading my personal space, shop assistants pouncing, over stimulating environments, micro-managing, social anxiety, need for freedom and flexibility, forcing us to be someone we're not. Basically, we leave other people alone so please leave us alone. ❤️

Very relatable. I'm an INFP, and what ticks me off is when people don't show consideration for each other on the sidewalks. That really bothers me! Also manipulation disguised as love. Ugh. The worst. And people taking charge and controlling a situation without listening to the opinion of the other people involved. Very frustrating to witness.

I'm an INFP, and I really DO NOT like people telling me that I can't do something. It makes me think that they think that I'm delicate or I'll break under pressure, when I actually work better under pressure, and they make me feel useless. So I try to prove to everyone like that that I can handle anything I put my mind to. Awesome video btw. :)

I definitely dig my feet in whenever under pressure and will work harder. However. I put myself into my silent mode until whatever it is, is done. Our silent mood can be used for things like this if/when we learn to use it. I've always thought of it as some sort of chakra routine. Lol. Like we shut down our senses and open up the ones we need to get done. (Mainly our brain/our focus.) For me it came from constant pressure through work and life, eventually leading myself to figuring out that I could do this. And in doing this I can get through anything. Its like... going to a silent place. But doing so whilst remaining in whatever environment we're in. It's often connected with the darker INFP's... yet, it's steal higher level INFP strategy. (Or so I've noticed in my study of peoples.)

Related so much to your video. Growing up INFP as a child is pretty tough. At least it was for me, surrounded by Sensors and Extroverts. Ever since I was 4 years old I was criticised for being too quiet, too different.... I remember trying to change myself but it drained me so much, and I felt so fake! I'm so glad I had loving supportive parents, even if they also didn't completely understand me. A big plus is that I've grown up to be desensitised to those kinds of non-insightful criticisms..
@mistydake2109

Some of my biggest pet peves as an INFP. Who can relate? 1. When someone calls/texts you over and over after you didn't answer the first time. This would piss ANYBODY off, but it can send us INFP's into full blown panic attacks! 2. When people, who know you have problems with the answering the phone, call instead of text. 3. When someone acuses me of lying. We work so hard for our integrity, when someone questions mine it feels lime the ultimatd offense. 4. Being rushed. I can barely keep my mind on task when it's just me trying to hurry, the minute it even feels like the other person is rushing me I practically dissociate from the stress of it.
@MEGAoneARMEDbandit

I totally agree bashing people behind their back, while being sweet to their face, extremely bothers my spirit. I know if they do it about someone else, they will do it to me, which makes them automatically untrustworthy. Unfortunately, most of the World does this. Recently someone said I was wearing a mask based on my posture. I looked at him and said: "I don't, I just don't like you. And saying what you just did, no wonder I don't." He tried to explain that "the mask is what we show to people", to which I replied: "My mask is honesty, then. Bye." Whenever people try to tell me what I am like I'm wrong about myself, I want to mangle faces.

I definently change my demeanor depending on who I'm with but it's not like I really do it consciously. I can be aware of it but for me I also dislike the assumption of fakeness attributed to "the mask". To me these are just different part of myself, they aren't any less real just because they are different. That being said I do have a "mask" of sort sometimes or hold back my "real self" sometimes but it's for my safety and security. I think this is normal. I don't care about being disliked. I am comfortable with myself, what gets me a bit down is being misunderstood but even that I get. I often don't even understand myself.

Tumblr is the only place I like to go (it's not technically social media) because I choose what I get to see, basically (my feed is always nothing but plants and like...Harry potter). But literally EVERY SINGLE OTHER form of social media gets on my nerves. I absolutely hate snapchat with a fiery passion, Twitter is pointless and stupid, Instagram is very fake and pointless, and Facebook...omg Facebook. I got a Facebook primarily because I wanted to play this game, and now the game is gone forever....but my family would all whine and complain if I deleted my account so I'm stuck with one for all eternity. I just want it remind people here to be careful to not “adopt” characteristics in order to feel like the INFP label, or any three label, fits you. We are FAR too complex to be able to described and defined by another’s experience or verbal habits of a personality. Of course it’s nice to see others who share some of the same traits as you, just don’t believe you can’t become anything different later on, or feel like you must be like everyone else here. Be you.

SO if we take the test and the result is a confirmed INFP....and we feel relief for the first time in our lives becaise we realize we aren't weird...it's actually a unique and wonderful thing....why am i buying into something that would need to be changed later. True people can change but the statement felt a little off as if i might want to change completely because some how i won't like myself....not sure what you meant there?? (Lol spoken like a truly defiant INFP). I'm surrounded by people all the time that are jealous because i DO walk to my own beat, doing what i truly want. I can relate. The only situation I might do something like pull the trigger would be in the case where someone were about to kill someone else. I'd be willing to use a weapon to try and prevent it. But I'd also strive to minimise damage to the aggressor as much as I can. Then I'd probably say sorry, as well 0_0. But that, of course, is provided I can keep it together. That may not be a given.

Mikayla I was in an abusive marriage for 3 very long years (physical, mental and emotional, oh my!). I showed mercy and did not receive it in kind until the dam burst and I fought back. It was very unpleasant; but the results were favorable and I was able to escape. I do not have violent tendencies either, but there are circumstances in which mercy needs to take a hike. There would be no hesitation on my part to light someone up, guy or gal, if they invite that kind of attention by putting my family, friends or me at risk. Life's too precious and time waits for no one. Beyond that, yes, I let trapped moths out of my house....but all cockroaches must die!

I can relate, because I hate politics and have little to no respect for those who follow and worship politicians and partisan groups; especially adult children who mindlessly bash on people from the opposing party and slanderously make unsubstantiated blanket statements about them. In my opinion, there should be a country for everyone who hates politics where they can do what they want as long as it doesn't negatively affect the lives of everyone else. Let the masses police themselves with no assigned magistrate or ruling party. Politics do nothing but oppress the ones they rule over.

I hate being told to shut-up by anyone (family or acquaintances-my friends never do that) especially when I've finally worked up the nerve to share what's really on my mind. I have a question for you. As an INFP we obviously don't like to be the center of attention, but how come when I zone out and drift off to dream Land (which is most of the day), I have some fantasies in which I'm the center of attention? Most of daydreams revolve around a show I've watched, or I'm currently watching, and I picture myself on the show; having that lifestyle. I would NEVER disclose this around any of my friends or family, well..... One family member who knows me better than anyone in the world. He once me I was a great starter, but a horrible finisher!!

It depends, if it is truly respecting space no. If it's telling us we need to give you space no though I would likely be sad and just deal with how I feel. If it's neither of these I would feel you just don't like me because ignoring someone is the defacto stance for indifference. After three decades you learn not to take any of it personally. In time I would become indifferent to you and then we can be strangers again as before. It seems that strangership is winning out over friendship these days. Thank you social media for your gift.

It's like I will take a lot of b.s. from people, but if you mess with my family, friends the elderly, the disabled, children or anyone who can not defend themselves. Then I will go off a lil loud (to surprise n stop) n get between that person (s) n the underdog, friends and or family. I do it without thinking. I still will try for a peaceful solution n it always works esp if I can talk to the perpetrator one on one. Win win. :) INFP -a. Many yrs. I was a psychiatrist nurse with bachelor of Science n a minor in psychology. Now I am a lone landlord of 4 mobile homes in Ms, U.S.

I'm 32 years old, and I only found out about this whole business a couple of days ago. I got INFP as the result at 16personalities.com, and I have been reading and now starting to youtube this information, and I have to say that I identify completely with the descriptions I've seen so far. Of course I know I'm an introvert, but all of this just puts everything into place for me. Some of the things that resonates with me: - I also hate people coming to my home unanounced, and I especially hate people standing in the streets with stands approaching me, starting to talk away about their stuff, especially if they are selling stuff or preaching, but also even if its for a charity. It makes my blood boil :P - The micro managing thing also resonates enormously with me. If someone is literally looking over my shoulder on what I'm doing, I actually cannot continue what I'm doing. I hate everything about hieracrchy and micro-managing, expectations from people higher up we don't know with uninformed expectations about things. It really upsets me if I am confronted with something, and the person doing it doesnt actually have an understanding about the realities of the situation. - I stopped watching TV completely a couple of years ago, partly because I can't watch the news, but also because I just think most TV shows are mundane and soul sucking. Oh, and I was also fascinated that you mentioned the Pleiadeans and aliens. I was super obsessed with ufology and aliens for most of my 20's. Do you think thats a typical thing for this personality type? Looking forward to find out more about INFP :)

We are interested in mythical creatures 🤗. You're not alone. I pretty much relate to all you stated. I'm 22 going on 23, and I hate when random men walk up to me to say hi...🤔 I make a scary face or a possessed face 😅. I did that on Saturday to a young man who hurried away in fear. When I walk on the streets I make sure I block my ears with music. My taste in music is really weird. I hate mainstream so I do my research for music from unpopular places of the world and I love to share them with people. My mom said that I am contrary to popular demand, although she doesn't fully understand me. 🙂

I always completely relate to INFP descriptions, but this was scarily accurate and relatable 😳 Not just the pet peeves, but the fact that I'm an INFP w/ social anxiety & bipolar II (similar to cyclothemia) who had her hair dyed blue recently (and was hounded by family members about why I wanted to stand out with my anxiety). Crazy!!! It got to a point towards the end where I could predict what your next few words would be whenever you paused. 😂 So anyway, wonderful video!

This list actually makes me feel less strange. I can relate to all of these so much. Thanks for posting your videos. I used to hate myself so much for not being like others. But now I understand why I do what I do. And why I get so irritated with the outside world. I can't watch the news at all. Most days I can't do FB either. I hate the dips of low energy and lack of inspiration. I very rarely like anything mainstream. Hate labels and name brands. Lately I've come to the point where I won't spend time with toxic family members on holidays, just because it's a holiday. It's been freeing. I feel grateful to be in a creative career. Although it is a very social field. It's very unlikely for me to answer the phone even when it's a friend. I have to really have some energy and time for a phone call. I really want to give 100% of my attention while talking to people I love.

I would say that it's OK for someone to ask why you do a certain thing, such as in your example colouring your hair blue if you're an introvert so long as they are asking because they are genuinely interested as opposed to mocking and condescending. Is that what you meant?

I absolutely loved your video and I subscribed to your channel! I am also INFP, 27 years old, and there are aspects that I really value in my personality (creativity, empathy, social justice, independence, sensitivity, curiosity ...) but I have behaviors that are hurting me and I can not overcome them. I say it here because I need the guidance of other INFPs, or at least to feel less strange or guilty with myself. These last weeks a person whom I considered a great friend has stopped talking to me for totally selfish and vain reasons. I have been very offended, I have been really hurt, but in the moment of facing her and pointing out her behavior I have realized that I am not able to speak with enough hardness or anger. I said what I think, but I am not able to scream or make a scene like people sometimes deserve. I really feel that I'm betraying myself, that I'm not able to defend myself as I deserve in a situation of stress. Is any INFP in this position? I am really self-critical, and it really hurts me not to be able to express my emotions of anger in an explosion like most people. I fear the rest will see me as weak, complacent, stupid or submissive. Which I am not in any case. Do you have any advice? How do you see this? Sorry for the long message and if for lack of spelling, English is not my native language :)
@xsankor
@xsankor 7 лет назад
Beatriz Vera Hi, I think any INFP can relate to you, remember we are 'mediators/healers' and that makes it difficult at times to reply without emotions, basically to say what needs to be said. - One thing that works for me, besides recognizing the problem and seek to solve it, is to practice this type of conversations, difficult conversations, w/o letting your emotions get involved. There's something in the brain called 'the mirror neuron system', this allows your to model the behaviors of the people that are around you, use this info to get audiobooks or RU-vid video of people who overcame these adversities. - on the other hand, 'adversity is the first path to truth.', 'behave your way onto a new way of thinking', 'introverts have to act extroverted at times', 'you can say whatever you want so long you say with respect', 'if you believe in the cause, believe in the vision, and believe in the presented scenario, say what you have to say'. Remember, knowledge is power, but 'execution' trumps knowledge every time. Take action on some of these today, and practice. You go be awesome as always!
@Royladin
@Royladin 6 лет назад
The solution is in the problem. You said you can't scream or get angry. Aggression is one of the suites of emotion we have to practice, because it's so hard to get angry. My self-criticalness diminished when I used my objectivity to determine what went wrong with the situation. You have to practice to develop your critical thinking skills this will aleviate all the undeserved self criticism. Mind you self-criticism is important for us to keep growing.

Me too..i'm infp. One of my best friend was put an anger to me too much to handle. Actually i dont mind it as the time goes on we will actually get over it. Infp is a peace maker. That is our pron and cons. But, lately she crossed the line too much. She hurt me by blaming me for smthg i didnt do, she even didnt believe me although i can prove that i was not wrong. Later, she didnt even feel bad and always playing victims. I hate it. For me, as a friend it is common when we have an argue or have a fight. But if she cant believe me, than sorry, i need to remove her from my life. I hurt so much but i can't tolerate her anymore. I feel lost my idealism, lost my self if i keep her near to me. So i made a decision to let her leave to find new friend. I open my heart to find new friend that will appreciate me more than her. Hard but really give me a breath.

I always knock on doors and txt people. I always feel weird just walking into people's houses even if they are expecting me. over stimulation only happens when I'm at a loud bar. I'm comfortable with my peeps and I'm a musician so I'm used to noises but loud noises for the sake of being loud anger me but synchronized loud noises like a band are different. But I agree on micro managing too I work better alone because I don't get stage fright. But I don't like being told to change hence my long hair beard and I'm weird and I do hate mundane routine. Great points I don't like egos either I like people to be real so yeah the video is pretty on point.

Wow, great observations; I agree with ALL of the points you made! Micromanagement, bitchy gossip, people with big egos...yes, all of those are big turn offs. And shop assistants who stare at you, lol! A pet peeve for me is when you're trying on something in a clothes shop and the assistant starts hovering and telling you how GREAT you look in that dress because they think empty flattery and pushiness will increase the probability of a sale. I find it has the opposite effect and I'm more likely to buy if I'm given a bit of space and allowed to decide for myself without distractions.

I will have to look into it in more depth but I think I got this type. I had never heard of these personality types until recently. Hearing this video was truly eye opening because I could have been listening to myself...I mean even down to very particular scenarios and how they made me feel. I have long been trying to adapt and curb the way I speak (or don't), I have tried to stop analysing things, coming up with solutions when people have problems, that are obvious but that I have learned people don't want, and to realise that thinking it's odd not to want to solve something that is damaging to you apparently is not odd. I've learned to pretend I'm interested in this week's soap. aIve accepted that opinions are logically and based on sound thinking sand usually some learning but that if they happen total different or not popular, They will not be met with the acceptance or understanding of consideration that every opinion (not being fact) would need to be given if any kind of productive or interesting conversation. I may believe that 2 different perspectives can both be correct but many others believe there is just a right view and a wrong one) I've learned that I go on way too much and never can get my thoughts across concicly or easily. (As you can tell!) I now know that other people still think about that small mistake that they didn't have to make even months later I may be reminded of and wishing I'd have probe thus or said that. I get why I found it so hard the one time I had problems with my boss. ...I was misunderstood, not trusted, micro managed for the first time ever and found it so bad that It consumed and upset be beyond reason. I felt judged and I knew this person had no depth and was never going to see 'me' my previously highly regarded and near perfect work(for a charity...helping people with some serious issues) actually did begin to suffer and when that happened I lost all the love and price in my work and left (I have since realised that although it is uncomfortable,, there were ways I could have dealt with the situation early on without my boss losing face and without me having to let her opinion and treatment of me go unchallenged for so long that I almost felt I had to go along with it in the end. 'tote my tongue when I want to talk about something of interest . I now know why I'm a perfectionist, hard on myself in that I find myself constantly 'working Inn myself' I be stopped expecting people to think outside of there immediate needs or that the world has not become a scary and sometimes ridiculous place.. I've seen that fitting in and being yourself can sometimes not be possible and that this causes me much inner emotional conflict because there is no entirely satisfactory solution when I don't find many people who are as follows as me. I see that my high and my understanding and perceptiveness of things and people can actually be a source of unhappiness. I know I need to see my friends more instead of doing my own thing but at least now I know I'm not alone in my endless learning about this subject or that until I feel like I understand it and why I am forever starting projects at home that don't get finshed as well as why I try to put off starting some. I know I am not' special' and I now do not think that there's something wrong with me . I simply gave a particular type of personality. For whatever reason it just happens to be that this particular type is less common that's all. Knowing this puts different light on things and makes it easier for me to deal with situations where previously I have been, hurt, angry, unsure and less likely to compromise who I am uneccessarily. I can also ask others or look up ways I can help with the particular issues that come up all the time for me. The bank you so much for sharing what for me was some really enlightening stuff. Things are beginning to make sense!!

It's always so beautiful to listen to a healthy INFP. One who has a strong self-esteem. I was raised by an ESTJ and ISTJ and they fractured my sense of identity and authenticity so much that I ended up pretty much behaving like them in many situations. I like your video very much. :)

At 6:00 Lex, I know how you feel. I'm usually a peace maker but one time my boss kept asking me why about an honest mistake. So I freaked out with some sort of Martin Luther King speech, questioning her intentions saying "do u expect me to be a computer and execute every line of your commands perfectly?" She looked like as if I was going to slaughter her. But after that, we got along very well. So hey, maybe next time you just need to explain a bit more of yourself for others to understand :)

Class 2D yeah I have also learned to put my foot down more. Especially in job hierarchies. It helps especially for extrovert judging boss-types it seems. Hate to have to do it though.

He'll I sorta did that same thing and now I'm looking for a job....since my boss said I don't listen mind you she fires me via text after I just informed her I had a Dr note excusing me from work for the next 3days due to a sever concussion from ⚾...and when I asked for her to explain to me a time when I didn't listen to her I never heard back from her to this day and that was in late oct!!( it was a shock and the last thing I expected and right before the holidays even!!(&I've grown up with the chic... !( but I hated the job anyways bc it was just way too much stress and negative energy so I'll just count it as a blessing!!!)... still looking to get another job tho!!(🤔😎😁

Thank you Lex!!!!! Your tattoo is beautiful :) I feel like posting this as a PSA. All of these are absolutely accurate. The moment that the INFP has pet peeves, it seems to be beyond other's comprehension. I would like people I love to please STOP trying to get me to have phone conversations, keep the phone near me, answer the phone or to take my disinterest in phone calls to mean I don't care. It's not it. It's awkward and taxes my energy. I love deeply therefore not feeling anything superficial and cliche at all. Even more importantly, I will not discuss religion or politics. I value all opinions and will be objective.

I don't need you hovering & questioning. I see it as a lack of trust which burns my soul because trust is a huge value of mine

@@blazos81 Hi! Sorry I realized this was a few months ago and I learned I mistyped as INFP by mistake. I'm actually an INFJ. I definitely realize there are people in sales who are genuine and honest, I just don't see many of them. I also realize there's corporate sales positions that pretty much require you to be annoying to customers even if you hate being that way (insurance companies for a prime example). Sales is just a cut throat business in my opinion, you'll never see me in any sales position. Like I said it's mainly positions for big corporate companies, but I digress. If you know you're doing your best for people on a daily basis, keep doing what you're doing! =]

May I ask you about your astrological chart? I recently found out that I am an INFP but have also found astrology quite reliable in getting to know myself. I have my Sun in Capricorn but I'm right on the cusp of Aquarius and my Ascendant is in Pisces as well as my Moon and Venus. I feel Pisces very strongly and I just wondered if you or anyone else who's INFP are similar astrologically. Loved this video!

M.A.C. idk anything about astrology except for the fact that I'm a Cancer (July Birthday) and INFP. I know one other person who is the same so I'm wondering if that is a coincidence or..

I'm an INFP too and very into astrology. I'm a Scorpio sun and ascendant with Aquarius moon. I think I relate to both signs equally. I also agree about the connection between water signs and being highly intuitive/sensitive. :)

Kat Webb Thank you for responding. I've just recently started getting into Vedic astrology which is supposed to be more accurate. Most everything in my Vedic chart is the same except my Venus is now in Aquarius instead of Pisces and my Mars is in Pisces instead of in Aries. I also have my Neptune in Scorpio. Nice to know another INFP into astrology. If you haven't looked into Vedic astrology yet I would highly recommend. It seems much more detailed and you can get free birth chart online just like western astrology. Astromitra.com is really good. :)

I am also an INFP and very interested in astrology as well. I actually have no water in my chart at all haha, but I am definitely a dreamer! I'm also intuitive and creative (writer and artist) despite not having any planets in a water sign, so I am here to say that I am not sure there is a connection between water signs and being an INFP. Gemini sun, Libra moon, and Capricorn ascendant :)

Loved the video, all points resonated with me as INFP. My worst experience was in clothing retail when they were forcing us to ask customers to go online and fill a feedback survey about how good the service was on the till/around store. I always hated asking that and avoided doing it deliberately because the way I saw it people would just think I'm helpful to them so I can ask them to do the survey when in reality I was helping because i liked to help and it was part of my job... so this authenticity and idealism got me in trouble with my manger because although I was doing everything else well, I wasn't complying with that one thing they wanted and I got caught 😒 so I only did it when they were around and it resulted in awkward conversations which I still cringe at when remembering

"she had told me i can't do writing, i can't -- i basically can't do any thing creative. that i have to do a mundane job." GIRL SAME. Fortunately for me, I found a job that is mundane and practical but I am still passionate about. My soul was crushed when my parents disagreed of my choice to pursue arts. I want to become an animator and work at Pixar (yea, i know. i'm very ambitious haha). 2 years ago, we had a pet puppy and that is when I remembered my love for animals which was very evident ever since I was a kid. I'm sorry I just felt like sharing when I heard that line hahaha I relate to it so much.
