Yes, I noticed I tend to bend my neck to reach the water first, and then gradually raise my head till I face the ceiling, as the water flows down my throat. That seems to be my habit. Is it bad for the neck?

When the head is balanced on top of the spine, the weight of the head is transmitted down the spine. As soon as the head is poked forwards, it is no longer in balance and requires a stiffening in the spine to support it. If this is momentary and the head returns to a well-balanced alignment and the stiffening is released then it's not a huge deal. The issue is that most people will then maintain this head forward posture to some extent, leaving the body in a constantly compromised position and contributing to all the other postural and tension problems that they are experiencing!
