What makes this so sad is that when he's faced with Lois, you can see how truly sad and broken Clark is inside. It doesn't excuse what he's done, but it shows that at his core, HE HATES WHAT HE HAS LET HIMSELF BECOME.
A little longer with Jon and some Lois talk and they might have made an impact on him ! This would have been best to do during year 1 though sadly. Even by year 2 he was pretty bloodthirsty.
Thats how powerful Jon has become now. With that lariat he hit Diana with, they reached JUPITER before she could even REACT to it. Insane power spike, im loving the call back to Superman Red/Blue with Jons potential now.
@@garycannon4644 bruh you read the comic and that's your takeaway? After that whole interaction they had knowing what happened previously, that's your summation of his character? I believe the whole story went over your head then. While I agree Rey Skywalker is poorly written, Jon Kent is not.
This is the best written superman comic in ages. With this , jon has solidified himself as superman’s successor. I love how he handled this. It remind me of Christopher reeves superman. Jon reminded everyone what superman is , a symbol of hope and justice, a kind hand to push you to make a better choice, even if it isn’t easy, because that’s what superman does.
THATS what was bothering me the most. Wonder Woman is an ambassador of PEACE. it struck me as how awkward it seemed to have her on the evil superman's side. She would have been the first person to try to stop him.
Fun fact: Jon saying 'this world is just wrong', he isn't lying. The lynchpin that made the Injustice universe a cancer? It's Wonder Woman, but more specifically, its Steve Trevor. Normally Steve Trevor is supposed to be a staunch and unfaltering American patriot, but in the Injustice Universe he was secretly a nazi soldier. He did fall in love with Diana, but when it came down to it he told her he would love no woman as much as he loved the nazi regime and it fundamentally broke something inside of her. That is why she is the way she is.
Jon stayed at the Sun, charged his new power to full and used all that power and speed… just so he can hug his father. And everything else he did before he left… Jon Kent is the true successor to the mantle of Superman. He really is his father’s son. And the way Jon’s time in the Injustice Universe concluded, his… I hope they’re a nod to the continuation of the Injustice story. His son’s words and actions were too impactful. We need an Injustice 3 so Superman can get his redemption, even if he dies being Superman again.
This multiversal story makes me want to see John meeting some of the very different sons Clark had in other realities, like Jonathan Elliot of "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?", the tragic villain Joel Kent from the "Generations" trilogy or the mysoginist Adam Kent of "JLA: Created Equal"
One i'd love for him to see is Prime but before death metal, hopefully a bit after infinite crisis. Just imagining the conversation these two could have sounds awesome imo
2:27 I wish Jon mentioned How much slower the power rings are in this world compared to his universe. They cannot help kick these lantersns into the dirt..OUCH cyborgs getting a very excruciating talk afterwards.
Superman 2 Kal-El/Superman: "General. Would you care to step outside." Zod: "Come son of Jor-el. KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!" 5:03 43 years later Jon Kent/Superman: "Excuse me Kal-El. Would you care to step outside." Kal-El/Regime Superman: "Come to me my son. KNEEL BEFORE YOUR FATHER!"
I think Clark wanted Bruce to kill so badly because deep down he wanted Bruce to kill him. He knew he was lost, and he trusted no one else but his best friend to do it.
I'm not a fan of Jon as Superman, but I think the message resonates. Superman has to be stronger than anger. Stronger than grief or pain. A little....Gary Stu / Mary Sue for me, but superman always kinda tread that line for me until recently anyway
This is aspect that I feel some people don't get about Supemran. They see him as just a "sily fool" who always smiles at any situation, when in reality he's one the most responsible of the heroes. When things go bad, he doesn't just freak out or being openly anxious. He needs to be the big man in the room, the exemple, keeping his focus and already think on solution for the problem, assuring people that everthing will be ok.
you forget when you love someone so deeply and i mean truly deeply and someone evil snatches it away with no remorse and you have a chance for vengeance you'd take it aside those who truly show mercy i don't think any exist if faced with what superman did
I’ve never liked the idea that someone else could just take off a power ring. These things aren’t just jewelry, they’re super-computers capable of destroying planets and crossing galaxies in a matter of hours. They _should_ have sensors and built-in defenses to prevent such things because the very first thing anyone designing these rings should ask is “okay, so what if someone else just pulls it off the person wearing it?”
I came to say that was an excellent choice for the thumbnail But I stayed for the comic... Which ended up being pretty damn good! 😄👍 Great presentation of moral dilemmas and the living experience.
This artwork is *_slightly_* better than the safety brochures that you find in the backs of airplane seats that teach you how to slide down the ramp in the event of a crash.
I miss the shading, the expression, the detail, everything that took Mt breath away when looking at awesome panels of things like darkseid vs doomsday,or the man of steel posing epically while delivering a titanic blow.
@@thelonesurvivor3955 I think a lit of it has to do with deadlines and the artist having to rush to get it done. Honestly, I think the art still looks good.
Interesting fact: Jon Kent saying the Injustice Universe is just 'wrong'? He isn't joking. There are two critical lynchpin differences in the Injustice Universe and the normal DC universe; one is that Joker succeeds in killing Lois. The second is that Steve Trevor, the man who convinced Wonder Woman to leave Paradise Island, was secretly a nazi soldier instead of an American patriot. He did love Diana, but when he was faced with his war crimes he angrily claimed that no love for a woman would ever be as strong for the love he holds for the nazi regime, and it broke something inside of Diana. It fundamentally broke something inside of her, and you can see it playing out as she attempts to support Clark and falls in love with him, she becomes emmeshed in his regime, she will not make him choose between her and it.
I'd like to know too. A while back I watched a scene from Injustice Superman I think. Another universe's Superman is fighting him, and then that Superman brings Lois from that universe. From my understanding, that's what gets Injustice Superman to finally stop . . . or am I wrong?
I have to wonder... Injustice-superman was clearly upset to see John go and Injustice-Cyborg was standing right there in clear view with a literal smoking gun. that cannot have ended well for Injustice-Cyborg...
So did Jon forget all about Val-el and the android Lois? The machine is definitely back on Injustice Superman world. I hope Jon goes back, I really like to see more of injustice Superman helping his son.
Seems like we're arriving at a point where earth 0 supes will meet injustice superman. People (mostly superman haters) always act like injustice superman is the same as earth 0 superman. Earth 0 wouldn't have chosen that path even after facing same manner of loss.
I was expecting a DBZ style battle but this is better. A big hug and kind words are all that is needed to heal someone. There is a lesson here. Love and compassion can win where force of arms and punches cannot. I think if Jon had stayed longer he would have gotten through to Clark.
Pride does not work like that. Injustice believes he is right, and has mostly succeeded in his methods. Why would he give up his idea of protecting people for a hug?
You mean when Hulk had venom?? Holy hell that was a let down. They had a whole comic issue hyping venom hulk up and the fight didn't even last a page worth of panels cause of that flea bitten symbiote.
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 even though the fight was lacking I was a really big fan of the event as a whole due to how it changed the scope of the typical carnage story by making Cletus a worldwide (arguably universal) threat as opposed to his typical street level antics.
@@ceral1871 hmmmm Absolute Carnage might be the only story Donny Cates made that I don't actively . Yet I still find it tiring in a lot of ways cause I don't think it was prepared for the scope it was going for, or had much respect for all the story beats it was touching. Like carnage getting a new form is cool and all, but he had gotten a cult plotline like 2 years And I can't help but feel he missed a lot of characters whove had symbiotes before during his little spine hunt. Something I like about carnage is how potently powerful enough to go after some real heavy hitters, but is sadsistcally down to earth and finds ways to torment the regular people.
6:36 Say is this Jon different from the main one. I thought he inherited the exact powers from Superman. So what's that? Has some kind of electro power?
thank you for your channel, thank you for posting this. That said.....this has been such a waste of a good idea for a story. And Jon is a solid character, the plot is weak and the only thing worse is the art. This story is maybe a 3 out of a 10. A 5 maybe with a better artist.
For people who've only heard of John Kent from this comic,i recommend not looking into other comics of his. They're just really bad with this being the exception
This series is trying too hard to make Superman and Wonder woman look bad but they are right about everything. Batman is a hypocrite because if Gotham was blown up he would do the same thing Superman did... Cough* Frank miller's Batman. Batman from The Dark Knight returns is basically Regime Superman, he has had enough of defeating villains just for them to return and do it again. Wonder woman is the other protagonist because she is helping Superman do the right thing. This series has ruined Batman because his fans believe he must abide by his code. The truth is Batman's code is saving Less people. This is why Wonder woman was a better leader for the Justice league because she don't follow a ridiculous rule.
