@@victorcastleman604 that's how the show puts it but no, they aren't. many of them haven't even tattooed hands. i don't know how they get so many amateur artists on this show and pass it off as "the best of the best" but truly some of these artists should still be in their apprenticeship....

@@dutchbeez2793 Massive difference between a tattoo you can hide and a tattoo that will always be in the public eye (no pun intended) especially in places like face, hands and neck, alot of tattoo artist wont even tattoo hands unless you already have most of you arm done. Its just the way the publiclooks at them

Well if you get face tats you're gonna have to worry about more than the judges saying it looks bad. You're literally gonna have people every single day giving their opinion that you didn't ask for.

To be fair the canvases are all just wanting a free tattoo. Well... This is the price you pay for free.

my only critique is that it IRRITATES me when they tell an artist they should have made their tattoo "softer" because the client was a woman, like not EVERY woman wants a girly dainty tattoo, some want the same thing men get. I have seen this happen to Cleen, when he should have gotten best tat of the day.

I saw one where a woman wanted a fiery, intense, bold phoenix, and the artist gave her a design nothing like what she asked for that she's gonna have to live with forever. Tattooing shouldn't be based on gender at all, it should be based on what the individual wants on their body.

Nah Anthony had that shadow underneath it, it was between him and DJ really. The last guy. The legs were flying out in different directions and it was hard to tell where they were attached and pointing and the highlights weren't as obvious where the light source was. That's why it looked 2d from a textbook. DJ's beetle looked great but it didn't have as many opportunities to show texture and detail like Anthony because it is just more simple. Anthony deserved credit for picking a tougher subject.

Completely agree. I really couldnt choose. To me it came down to personal aesthetic. When everything is so precise and technically perfect the decision becomes subjective.

I agree 100% the bee looked so cute and fluffy I wanted to pet it lol but the beetle and fly were also striking

The beetle was probably the best in my opinion. It looked way to real. More real than the fly. The beetle had so much 3d effect to it on it's back and the shadow was amazing.

Not in their defence, but just as a cool fact from a musician, early staff in the Middle Ages sometimes did exceed 5 lines. So if they’re cool about it, they can pass it off as a nod to super early music.

I interpreted that tattoo as having the top and bottom line as the paper, leaving the 5 inside as the music lines.

It's not that respectful when there was moment where he literally judged Tatu Baby for having face tattoo, being rude about it. I saw it in some of these compilation. It's not just the fact that the canvas wouldn't have face tattoes, he doesn't like them. Which is fine. But he wants to be tattoo artists, he can't judge people for that. Yeah, I get your point. But he still seems like rude person to me.

@@samanthawharton1033 That but I also think it has to do with the fact that they're all competing in a competition. If they can outshine their partner it gives them more props with the judges. I see it in a lot of these creative shows (Face-Off, Skin Wars, Steampunk'd, etc.)

It was also one of my favorite tattoos of the set. The deja vu tattoo was clearly the best, but the hearts had a charm and worked well with the ladies skin tone

The way he presents his own ideas to the client never comes off as him discrediting their ideas. He always presents it as him having been inspired by their ideas and giving them options. People skills are more important than some artists like to think.

He seems to be the only one on the show interested in trying to make sure all his clients leave with a tattoo they like and that will last. All the others just want to screw over their competition.

I agree with you 100% that was kind of an irresponsible Choice as far as a location for a challenge especially dealing with people who have never done it before and then putting a time limit on it as well. Luckily nobody ended up with any damage to their eyes but that could have been a recipe for disaster.

It’s not just the eyelid tattoo, but his attitude towards the other artists who did them without question. Specifically with Tatu Baby. If you look at his watch he does have other tattoos, just hidden. He specifically requested the L4 be hidden when his lids are open, meaning he knows to hide the tattoos. Joshua is simply sitting so high on his moral high horse that eventually he’s gonna get forcefully dethroned.

It’s emphasising the reality of the situation, but by saying “literal eyeball”, it directs attention to the eyeball specifically. Saying “literally have a gloved hand” is saying ‘hey, this person is doing this action’. Saying “literal eyeball” is saying ‘this person is doing this action to their EYEBALL’. It’s calling attention to the fact that he is not just pressing down on the eyelid and thus putting pressure on the eyeball, he is literally touching the eyeball itself. The sentence could’ve been read as ‘he’s pressing on their eyelid and thus squashing the eyeball’, but the “literal” clarifies that the glove is upon the naked eyeball itself.

My first tats were on my ear & back of my neck. It's all about how you carry yourself! I've never had any problems with them. Granted they're not face tattoos, but they're tattoos that you can see when talking to me. Jobs are getting more lax about them nowadays

Mouth/tongue tattoos fade and are often fully gone in a year or two. They heal quickly but fade just as quick

My friend who has his blasted black said he just threw water over his tongue and spat it out twice a day his tongue still looks kinda good not as black but it's been there for 2 yrs now

I have a tattoo on the back of my ear, it didn't hurt at all.

there aren’t many nerves in the ear so its usually not bad

I mean the shell of the ear is pretty much just cartilage so there's not really much in the line of nerve endings.
