i mean, if you're deciding to be a canvas on the show you should be open to at least SOME compromise. But on the other hand: it stays on your Body forever. If I were a canvas I would not say "go ahead, scribble what you want on MY SKIN". So I completely agree with you that the contestants should not be held accountable for their canvases.

Yeah. It sorta feels like this is all being done for a TV show or something. Really seems like they do a lot of stuff just to add drama. Not sure what its all about.

@@lauratirier3821 The issue is the flip side of that. Okay we don't penalize an artist for having a bad client. Then one artist gets a "bad" client every time. Leaving them immune from critique to win the show doing literally nothing of value.

I almost cried when I got mine it was BAD I have 86 tattoos never again on my palm

@@MCHCMCH Still sensitive but nowhere near as painful to tattoo as the palms of your hands. For one, the skin on your hands is much thinner and delicate than the skin on your feet. For two, there's not as many nerves on the bottom of your feet as your palms. It's just not worth it when there's so many other less agonizing places on your body to get inked.

I want a palm tattoo but that and the top of the hands are something that I apsolutly want

She probably had critiques, they just didn’t show it. Apparently they critique each person for like 45 minutes in detail, then cut it down to a few seconds

And they’ve clearly not been told anything about tattooing. Like their all demanding hyper realism and colour which are the two things that are impossible.

maybe because they want their palms tattooed…lmaoo it’s almost 2022 many places of work, at least in the US, have changed or are starting to change their outlook on tattoos and body modifications when hiring. the idea of needing to be fully tattooed before being allowed to get hand tattoos is a very dated way of thinking by this point.

@@mads7710 not really, a lot of tattoos people wanna start off with can be extremely painful its smart to be wary.

@@mads7710 of course all tattoos can be painful. some tattoo spots are almost unbearably painful and people will walk away with unfinished tats in certain parts where tats can be particularly painful people looking out for clients is smart its not a situation where people are just being particular. 🙄 People are smart for refusing newbies tats in horrible places.

right? in the end, a client is a client-they can only be convinced of so much. everyone walks into a tattoo shop with an idea in mind, and some people just don't want to change their minds.

Funny thing is,they always say..the client is king.. but when the client asked for the impossible, all of a sudden the client is wrong

I understand in some aspect because these are not paying clients, this show more than highlighting how well you could run a tattoo shop, highlights you as an artist and the decisions you are willing to make to deliver the best you can. I think plastic surgeons are a good example. Sure, they can be paid millions and deliver you an Oli London because they followed what he wanted to the bone or you can get someone who only delivers a craft quality they believe in, even when they have to someone convivence their client they know what's better. I think I would trust someone to be more skilled in their craft if they're willing to fight me on what they don't consider to be a good decision I want to make as a client. Of course I do think the idea of losing because you lose a canvas is questionable but overall I think the essence of what they mean to say makes sense. I feel like just being a good artist isn't enough to be a good tattooist, there has to be a balance of being able to deliver your best to everyone in every scenario.

This is why I think the judges should just judge on technical application, placement, if it fits the criteria, design, movement of the design, and how clear the image is. Not try to school them on color, unless they either don't know that color won't last (thus, it's a learning experience), or it does not fit the criteria. If the people getting tattooed wants color, then they should have to consider that.

@@abbyk6354 to be fair, you don’t have to draw every single line in order to make something look like it’s supposed to, 😅so if he’d done a better drawing, and hadn’t put in so many tiny details it would’ve worked out in his favorite because it would’ve been a lot easier to read the image. Kind of like the Kyle dude who made someone’s mother look like a raisin by adding too many details. 🤣☠️

And the 'i's didnt match perfectly, other artists had mismatched letters and got a lot more critic from it

I didn’t think he should have won. His tattoo font was difficult to read and took up too much space. I think the Lady Luck tattoo was much better. It looked really nice across her fingers.

He didn’t say he was too dark. He said he has a dark complexion and that he won’t be able to be as creative because of that. It’s a fact that darker skin tones have a harder time holding and showing certain colors and that lesser experienced artists have a hard time with it. He just may not have a ton of experience with darker skin tones. No need to twist his words.

@@mkay2925 yes they do, but there are also techniques that tattoo artists should learn to bring out the fullest potential of their tattoos.

@@mkay2925 What you said actually isn’t entirely true. Darker skin types actually take really well to ink, you just have to use a different technique as the method for tattooing lighter skin types is different than the method used for darker skin types. As a tattoo artist it is your responsibility to learn to do as many skin types and complexions as possible. What you see a lot on this show is a lot of artists who’ve been tattooing for years saying that darker skin or certain skin types don’t hold color or that they’re limited because of skin tone, which means they actively didn’t learn the techniques needed to do so. I’ve seen the same color tattoo done and healed beautifully on both light and dark skin. Ink Master should not only be able to do all styles, but all skin types and tones.

Personally Im over the gender war bullshit, just help everyone out.

A tattooist who is knocking out tattoos that only look good the day after they are done is not a good tattooist, whatever the clients say they "want".

@@teller1229Thank you lol I held a squeeze ball in my other hand... That helped a lot. Took about 3 1/2- 4 hours and I was able to sit still without any breaks so it wasn't unbearable by any means. I'm thrilled with how well it'd held up!

This was probably just a little mistake design-wise, when doing a certain font, you need to try & keep the letters as identical as possible, so this may have been a mistake

I read somewhere the other day that someone got their taint tattoo'd with a thumbs up emoji to let the person down there know they did a good job....

And then craps on Kyle all the time. Really felt like the end of the show when that was happening.

There is, yeah. I think his name is Oliver Peck (someone please correct me if I’m wrong), they started editing him out because I think he did blackface before he was on the show and it was brought back up so Inkmaster decided they wanted nothing to do with him, sometimes they leave the voiceover in though. (Again someone correct me if I’m wrong, I’m not a hardcore fan only watch comps occasionally lol)

@@SleepiiGhxst i see ! i could definitely tell he was being edited out since the cuts were awkward and sometimes the quality got strangely bad like that shot of the judges had been zoomed in to cut someone out. good to see some sort of accountability on inkmasters part
