I think the compromise should be to include both gender & sex then on the ID 🪪 (a symbol for Trans does sound pretty bad ngl). Also, if discrimination is happening on Trans? Thru what is being said? @@keikialanifrazee8892 For the discrimination against trans, you can sue, but some (or most, I'm not good with the legal system) judges will favor the discriminator, even more likely if you're in a "red" state. This is disappointing when the judge is supposed to be a sort of equilibrium based solely on hard facts, not opinions. And the gender and sex being different do sound a LOT better than what Florida is doing, but they don't care, if it isn't similar or their exact opinion they won't view it as the "right thing".

As a transgender man with a strong support network, having to out myself would slow me down, but wouldn't stop me. However, I also wouldn't think negatively of anyone who would be put in a dangerous or life-threatening situation for not going. Our votes are needed, but even that isn't worth asking someone else to risk their lives. It looks like you and I have a lot of the same privileges, so let's vote to protect the members of our community who don't.

I’m in a red state, and a disabled single dad. If the wrong neighbor found out and decided to harass me, I have no supports or resources to fight it. Outing myself might keep me home due to safety concerns... My votes are overridden anyways, unfortunately. It’s just not likely to be worth the risk, depending on how public the info ends up being… idk. I hope I don’t have to be in a position to choose.

The issue I see is even if we out ourselves they'll still try to keep us from voting. I am also a trans man, thankfully not living in Florida, but let's say I were to have to change my gender marker to F. I don't care about outing myself so I go to the polls and explain. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they wouldn't allow me to vote because my gender marker says F but I don't look like a woman so obviously I'm committing fraud. They will absolutely do double logic on this, claiming you're committing fraud as a trans man with an M gender marker, but also committing fraud with an F marker until you jump through a bunch of hoops to prove you're AFAB. They'll put the burden of proof on us, make it hard to prove, until polling is closed. It won't keep me from attempting to vote as its my right, but the harassment might prevent some of us.

There's something to be said for a women's prison being cautious about letting a trans woman in. And trans men might not be safe in a men's prison. I don't think there's a good solution to this, just pointing out that there are at least some situations where "official" government categories are indeed used.

Like in my state gender diverse people are assessed on a case by case basis upon entering prison regardless of what gender the government has on record. Putting gender on ID just needlessly opens people up to discrimination.

@@nunyabeezwhacks Medical reasons for including that on an ID. Some treatments really shouldn't be used on people based on the sex they were born as. That can also be said for people taking treatments like hormone replacement therapy being affected by other treatments and ultimately having a negative impact. Sometimes, the only thing a first responder or emergency responder has is an ID.

It would definitely be relevant to doctors once one is being cared for by the hospital however we have a digital health record system that takes care of that. I don't get why they even have sex on drivers licenses to begin with. Like thats so alien and weird. In my country we did away with having that maker on the actual license and nobody really notices,because name and birthdate is all thats needed. Gender is still marked in the system but you can choose between female, male and gender diverse. Like they really don't need to worry so much about who's liscense has which letter, they should just get rid of it, but no they'd rather actually hate trans people then make a system more simpler.

I recently had a civics class that went through some of the history of my country and it was basically a whole plot just to say, "yeah America used to be bad, but now we're are better and everything's perfect." Full on brainwashing. The teacher was super patriotic and seemed blindsided to the issues. Though, I don't think the guy is stupid and actually knows what's going on. But there are people out there. Everyone says, "Be Happy" "Cheer up," and stuff like that. How can I be happy in a world of hate? Am I just supposed to act like it's not there?
