Kayak fishing at anchor whilst inshore fishing for Bass & Bream -
It had been a while since I last tried targeting the Gilthead bream from the Kayak out on the East coast of Jersey.
The conditions looked ideal to give it another try so I grabbed a pack of razor clam from the freezer, dug some fresh lug worm and made my way down the beach to give it another try.
The closer the season got to towards the summer months would make it harder to find the Gilthead bream amongst the plagues of black bream which usually move into the area and can be hard to fish through to find the better fish such as a nice Bass or Gilthead.

Love fishing for bream - such strong fish for their size. Always a good session if you have to just fish one rod. Love it! 🎣

Glad you enjoyed watching it mate ! Those black bream are always a nightmare there in the summer but took a few for bait so can’t argue ay ! chuffed with a nice bass to finish off the trip for sure though!

Was there Friday. 4 hours. One decent bite only and that was when I was bladdering myself in sunscreen ffs :) razor, squid, sandeel, frozen black lug. Maybe it was too hot :) gutted. Nice video bud and nice to see underwater release. Not easy to do in a kayak.

Hey, Sam, superb Sunday treat getting your video notification! The black bream were definitely out in plague proportions, but ALL catching is sport, and far out weights the alternative of blanking!!! Now, this is NOT a racial slur or derogatory question, but what is the white knob on the butt section of your rod? 😅 😂 🤣Been trying to figure out what it might be for all through the video, but I can't come up with an answer. Also, what type of ground are you fishing there? Is it near a reef, sandy bottom, gully, etc? Thanks for sharing this ALWAYS great content, mate! It seriously boggles my mind that you aren't on 100 times the amount of sub's! Always cracking content, production, and presentation.

Glad you enjoyed it matey. The white thing you can see on the rod but is a plastic ball that has a bungee cord wrapped around the rod I then use a leash with carabiner to clip to it if it’s choppy so I don’t lose the rod over the side. The ground I’m fishing is all sand with some big reefs scattered around me and also down tide of me are a set of oyster beds. I set anchor uptide so that the scent trail from the baits goes down to the beds.. I try to get as close as I can but it’s risky business and possibly can get snagged up!
