Love how he slowed down for the finish. Stopped. Swung the bike around for a great victory pose. Arms up with the Eiffel Tower behind him. Fantastic!

I'll be honest, I doubted him this season, especially after a less than impressive Dauphine. Yet he more than impressed at the Tour and displayed his quality this Olympics. Chapeau Remco - I hope you win more grand tours soon

Thank you for a great summary. Much better in 4:46 with still pictures than NBC's almost 7 minutes of disjointed clips.

Van der Poel was the pre-race favorite for people who don't know what they are talking about. Refreshing to see Matteo Jorgenson's pre race analysis being spot on, literally laughing with the notion that it was Van der Poel instead of Evenepoel that was bombarded as outright favorite. Matteo called it perfectly.

Chapeau to Remco! But he was not the first to win two gold for ITT and Road in one Olympics. The first was Leontien Zijlaard who completed a women's double at the 2000 Sydney Games.

I checked the CBC tv listings, and didn't see that they were covering the men's RR. They're covering the women's RR. That was a shocking omission, if they really didn't cover it.

The only way is up, in 3 seasons 1st GT la Vuelta ( hardest of the 3 ) Road WC then TT WC. Now in a week double Olympic Champion… chapeau all before 25! Could take another double WC? Then a 2nd Vuelta … joder!

Remco doesn’t have a great team like UAE or Visma behind him, giving him a bad hand in the grand tours, but I bet he could dominate the classics. Most exciting racer on the scene by far. He single-handedly made last year’s Vuelta interesting.

No race radios really makes the Olympics road race unpredictable. Resulting to upset and breakaway wins.

@DaiBei

@@conloubser Everything was according to the Belgian plan. They knew that MVP would attack on the stiff climb, and WVA had to follow him. After the climb, when everybody's legs were cooked a bit, and MVP and WVA were not gone, Remco would attack on the next climb, which he successfully did. It was on the other teams to chase Remco, not his teammate WVA.

@@KoenStrobbe-fv5us My logic makes perfect sense. Currently Tadej's from is better. Simple as that. Proof is in the tour de France pudding, pal. Yes, previously they raced and their forms were different, just like now, Tadej's is better.

@SamIAm-kz4hg 2 месяца назад
@@KoenStrobbe-fv5us "what you implied is that remco won because tadej was not there" Yes. I would say that is correct. Look at what happened the rest of the year. Tadej won the most important race of the year. Ask Remco which win he would rather have, Olympics or Tour de France. There is no question. This year at least Tadej was the best in the world. No one should dispute that.
