I’m 100% expecting it to be rough. Every big patch that runs fine in the ptu seems to get smashed once it goes live and the hungry players get ahold of it lol.
It's been much worse right now. Since no more kick back to main menu. you have to wait over 5 mins for the server to recover. that's what we are suffering right now inside the eptu. and not only that, the replication layer seems always want to put you back to the dead server....
Referring to Looting as "Violent Shopping" is my new favourite thing to come from Jaryd, and quite possibly the best thing to come from Star Citizen as a whole.
Yeah, but they need to balance things. There has to be a reason to bring a dragonfly over a pulse. And a reason to own & bring a ship large enough to carry a pulse rather than some itty bitty. Right now the pulse is being described as just as fast / maneuverable with comparable firepower and basically no drawbacks. Presumably there's a reason the Dragonfly and the hoverquad has all that extra 'space' right? So where is the advantage that they get? Where's the tradeoff? What positive do they get for that negative? What did the pulse trade in order to become small? It appears nothing right now.
The real question should be, despite its small size making it fit in most ships. Does it still have the same drawback of the hover vehicles smashing itself into the roof since it can't determine which is which and just bounces until it explodes.
Regarding the Pulse, it's still able to be targeted by turrets/ ships even while powered down and the mechanics are so wobbly and the vehicles so fragile that you're lucky if you don't explode for going at or above SCM speed from taking damage from the environment. How are these supposed to be "stealthy" if it's automatically locked at a certain range? Hoverbike mechanics need an overhaul, asap
The fragility on non track surfaces wouldn't be as big a negative if the bunker turrets stopped targeting them so you aren't trying to weave as fast as possible (if you even bother with a hover vehicle at all).
@@alexanderdooley5833 I would imagine he wouldn't be saying that, given it isn't true. Lasers attenuate relatively quickly. Probably not as quickly as they do in this game, but most certainly not nearing infinitely far away.
@@xxCrimsonSpiritxx Nope. It's a flying can that handles badly and would never exist. With wheels you don't need noisy engines that consume more power than needed for actual transport, you don't have issues with ground damage, you can actually lean in the corners and have fun ripping grass and throwing sand up, also there's DRIFTING. When you think about it, the only reasons motorcycles exist nowadays are fun, traffic and economy. They aren't comfortable. They aren't safe. They can't transport much cargo or many people. In a 2013 movie Oblivion there's another reason: tiny electric motorcycle as a backup ground mode of transportation when a Fury-sized ship breaks down. That I can imagine in the future. A wheel-less bikes, though? Nope. Not on the ground, at least. In space to EVA at really high speeds, sure, maybe. Imagine slingshotting yourself from that thing on a trajectory that lets you intercept a big cargo ship and catch on its surface, then torch through its panels to gain access to a security circuits, hack them, get inside and slowly sabotage the ship until you can steal the cargo or take down its crew. Now that's a proper use for that thing. But in a futuristic reality it probably would still be better and cheaper to use a smal propulsion engine or just slingshot yourself from your actual bigger ship that doesn't get destroyed or abandoned in a process, etc. So - again - no, I don't. And yes, I get the comically enthusiastic irony of your comment. Just felt like sharing my actual thoughts instead of continuing the joke.
*IMPORTANT for ground vehicles:* We NEED long, flat stretches of land everywhere to enjoy the speed without stumbling all over the place with jank physics! Whether roads or naturally flat ground doesn't matter. Uneven terrain is just as fun to drive along, but ONLY IF the physics are great and the vehicle is fit for the task, and in SC we have neither of these 2! But I am SOOO looking forward to being able to race the bikes in SC on endless roads across ArcCorp. That would be one of my cyberpunk fantasies come true.
it was Coke Cherry for me. Same effect, same cause, different drinks! I should have known better after that Flash reference. But nooooo! I had to drink at exactly that moment!
I took the Nox there in the past but it was not easy and it got stuck fast once down there, still it was funny shooting NPC's while shielded and using a size 1 ship gun
In my opinion, the hover tech needs a bit of work around visual perspective. I think it would look better if the bike is low to the ground when moving slowly or at stop and when you turn off the bike it touches the ground gently. Plus it would greatly improve loading bikes and what not onto a ships with low sealing. And on contrary, the faster you would go, the higher off the ground the vehicle would go (automatically) wow that water 10:50 Crysis 42
@@Blue_Monkey you can't compare those water physics (which means every game to date) to CIG's water physics, it's a whole new genre when it comes to technologies implemented in how they made it work. It's no simple flat terrain water physics, this is true 3D space water physics on actual planets, which no one has done before, at least not on this scale or with this fidelity. Regardless, CIG is the GOAT in the gaming industry when it comes to their Star Engine, and Unreal Engine is in many ways is playing catch.
@@TruthIsKey369 Sea of Thieves has done it with higher fidelity and it is not 2d either there. Better inform yourself before spreading nonsense. The only thing that is not in SOT is deformation of water, but SOT is also from 2018 (6 years) and implementing it on top wouldn't be too difficult.
@@Blue_Monkey he didn't mean that the water is flat, he meant that so far besides SC there haven't been any curved horizons with water physics included. SoT doesn't have a 'natural horizon', but SC does - which is new tech. Not to say SC's water tech is better, but it is different.
@@Khayul The curving wouldn't affect this significantly, not to mention that the expert engine devs at CIG wouldn't have issues adapting this. Fact is SOT has done it much better !!!FOR NOW!!!, ignoring the newly introduced deformation (which is more like an effect on top btw., but there is little point putting this into SOT).
I dont see why we shouldn't be able to *adjust* the hover height of ANY hover vehicle at will. Vehicle wise, it should just be a matter of controlling the hover output. or better yet, adjust it based on how high off the ground you want to hover.
See the Pulse is exactly what I want CIG to focus on in terms of sizing their ships. There are so many missed opportunities for certain ships to be able to fit inside other ships for transport yet are just slightly too big. C2 is a ship that comes to mind that has a big enough cargo space that could fit several smaller ships had they designed those ships sizes or retractability around the idea of fitting more ships inside other ships. Especially when certain mechanics come online involving claim time for ships to be huge and multiple star systems to transport to. Would be nice to be able to fly from one system to another to move all of your ships from your first home to your new home. Perhaps we need a medium-large ship transporting vessel. (Not capital sized.) or better yet, what if we had a medium sized ship that can latch on to other ships in a cool dramatic way and taps into the thrusters of the other ship you are transporting. Heck a ship designed around that could be a small aurora sized ship. It could utilize the towed ships thrusters and fuel for a realistic transport (a little ship that is using tractor beams shouldn’t be able to transport large ship unless it uses the larger ships fuel and thrusters). I get it, the logistics for how that ship latches into other ships would be difficult especially with certain ships having different shapes. But surely there is a design out there (even if it has to have moving adjustable parts) to latch onto different shapes and sizes. Honestly as I’m writing this I can see Argo making this. I might would call it the Argo Inception or The Argo Tick (kinda envision it resembling a parasite). Perhaps even when hacking comes along, it could latch onto another ship and begin the hacking gameplay loop to take control over the other ship. This would be a cool Pirate Variant. I can also see a police variant for the sake of confiscating the ship. Or for impounding. Idk a lot of this I wrote as it came to me and not fully thought out but I hope I explained it okay!
@@horstderheld22 Super lame. They do need ground vehicle gameplay. At least NPCs on the turrets outside if they won't let the emplacements target ground vehicles.
@@jasonfrost5025 NPCs on those mounted gatlings would be cool, so there's still anti-vehicle defences to deal with but they aren't going to one-shot your bike like the AA turrets do.
My question is when are we gonna be able to open the cargo bay doors on the Carrick? We have no access to them to load them up with cargo using the multi tool.
Ok I admit the Pulse looks better than I initially thought when I saw the Leaks images. I'll have to see how it performs. If only the turrets didn't see the hoverbikes as "flying" vehicles we could actually use them as effective ground vehicles to sneak into facilities.
that would be so nice. a miracle i might say (and as such, with really low chance of happening unfortunately). but to be honest, it's the first thing i though too when i heared that sentence ahah
The Pulse is cool. Glad to see it. But yes a small bit of annoyance to see new un heard of vehicles delivered to live and ones that have been hyped for years never delivered. How about everyone on the vehicle eng teams deliver ships they used to get people fund development before we start spending time on new ones? Great work on the Pulse again. If all the effort it took to deliver that was instead focused on previously promised ships that would be even better.
OMG the Pulse is Awesome!!!! My new Rambler vehicle :) and the Bunker idea is a go for me too! ((Hey can we get this as the Loaner for the Ranger Concept))
Without mass and inertia, they won’t work, unfortunately. Ever rode a wheel based ground vehicle in Star Citizen? Multiply the experience with 2 because only two wheels.
@@AdityaWaghmare have you ever tried to drive around with a nova tank? It feels like ice skating because no inertia and no friction. Also, it gets stuck all the time -even worse jumps around- because it has the mass of an empty paper bag. The feeling of driving will never feel „right“ without proper mass and inertia simulation. Unfortunately this should have been addressed by CIG long ago as the „physics“ are a part of the foundations. Changing it now will probably break all driving and flying.
Yeah, it's pretty cool that the thing I'm currently most excited to release is a hover bike that's so tiny that it might even fit in the Mustang Alpha's cargo box. I'm not excited to fly _any_ of my big ships in 3.23. But my 325a with a Pulse? That's sounding fun. Really looking forward to it.
@@Storm-Cleaver Talking about that, just brought a 325a with the Cobalt Blue metalic paint, and the coffee pot/Cooker/Radio etc, and forgot what a wonderful ship it is, looks gorgeous. You rekon the Pulse will fit?
I expect so! Ive fit a nox in my Hoplite with a tractor beam. It was very sketchy and unsafe, but it did fit. So the pulse should slip right in no problem
Hey CIG, I just tested this out in the EPTU- Yela isn’t breathable anymore. It has been for the past many patches, and I hope y'all make it again. After all the mobiglass readout of pure oxygen at .2 bar would actually be breathable to humans. Having a ~few~ of the moons be breathable makes wearing normal clothes a lot more viable, I was able to load up vehicles at Deakins Research wearing my cool outfit. And with the new ability to reload sidearms from ammunition in pockets, wearing normal clothes is more viable than ever in game. Please make Yela breathable again when 3.23 drops.
3.23 is the only patch i will have played consistently since i 1st played 5y ago, once hangers drop in 3.23 im in, so much next level content, updates and rebalancing......it''ll be unrecognizable from 3.22, that 1st instance of calling up a ship/vehicle will be so immersive, not much for personal decor, yet the personal hangars feature set alone will inspire many new players to keep playing. Can only imagine what veteran players from 2013 must be feeling?.
@RobertsSpaceInd one of the mechanic that would be cool to add is the possibility to grab the handle of the bike to push it arain (like when you want to walk around your bike to park it somewhere) its would be less glitchy than try drive it inside a ship
Also, at 7:26, he's talking about hoverbikes being stealthy, but outpost gun emplacements consider hoverbikes as ships, and shoot ship-sized weapons at em. They're not as stealthy as we're told.
05:22 before anyone gets too excited about the replication layer, pay attention to the fact the actual recovery in the video is sped up 1300% as shown in the bottom left corner. It's better than getting DC'd of course, but it's still pretty disruptive to gameplay
Good to remind people to not get hyped, but that recovery is roughly 1 minute of realtime gameplay. edit: meaning I'll easily take 1min of a quick bathroom break or something over having a DC situation.
@@Clint_Beastwood87 Well that IS also assuming it even works. I haven't tested PTU in a few patches, but when I played I had one instance of the recovery working ... for about 5 seconds before the next server error hit. the other times it never recovered.
Don’t get yer hopes up. Remember this is being pushed out before ILW regardless of stability, or issues. The most important aspect of the game to CIG is the ship sale.
Sounds like they did, but then it got "fixed" in a patch. There should at least be NPCs on the smaller turrets outside to shoot at people approaching from the ground. Feels too easy the way it is now.
Although I would prefer Ranger, Pulse looks really good. Can't wait to test both version in game. Also that laser gatling, I want to see that in S4 or S7 for the Ares and the ultimate A-10 (or SC-10)
They took great care not to show us a sunlit planet on the star map this time. I do hope that means they fixed the legibility issues and aren't just hiding them.
This video with the Pulse made me think of how nice it would be to have a way to disable the turrets on bunkers while on foot. Hacking a ground computer or cutting a power relay. Something so a ship with additional ground troops and land without a fight.
The "No more finding your way around will soon be gone" thing, not quite true. There is no setting of waypoints where you want them yet. The quantum distance display was reduced to 1 decimal place after millions, it used to be accurate to the kilometer. Now you cannot be more accurate than the nearest 100K km. So much for finding that sweet spot in the Aaron Halo or any other place without resorting to entering /showlocation into chat, which will display the real coords in chat and copy them to clipboard. So when do the waypoints come in? Yeah CIG, you made navigation a big step back in 3.23.
Oh that sucks. The Aaron Halo hasn't been a viable mining spot for me anyway since the last mining update, so won't affect me personally, but that still sucks. Should have a way to maybe toggle the units for more accuracy when you want it.

A billionth new bike, and a trillionth new vehicle, released while not a peep is heard about what is holding back the Ranger six years after its reveal. Amazing.

Just not a priority, like why did they go from Hull A to Hull C instead of doing Hull B, why did the carrack not get the cockpit armor plating and long range antennae from the prototype. Why did the 600i get a redo and then another in progress to go gold standard instead of 50 much older ships before it. Only CIG knows

Surprise, surprise. CIG releases yet another LTI token vehicle that has no real purpose or need in the game atm. At CitizenCon, they showcased a variety of ships to be released within 12 months. Well, it’s been 6-months and the only releases have been two hover bikes.
@@MoDeLi370 Because it kills any chance of growing as a pilot, brings the game further away from the Space Sim it has been sold as, and makes for an overall worse flight experience?
I wish CIG would just focus on bring current ships to gold standard instead of new ships. People will still buy existing ships brought up to gold standard. No 600i rework yet but I think there has been 5 new flyable ships before getting the 600i rework. At lease CIG does things better than BSG lol!
Are you mad about the pulse? You realize a lot of these smaller vehicles that get added are because they are training new devs and this is a project for them that isn’t as big as one of the older vehicles coming to gold standard.
So what. There is no gameplay for the 600i until touring and exploration are worked on and they haven't even started that. Get cozy. It will be another 5 years

I would like to be able to stream Mobiglas graphics over to other screens such as those found in various Captain's quarters. The waiter with a towel on their arm posture alongside the eye straining translucent holographics of the mobiglas are compromises for a mobile user experience. However, for long term planning, as you might be doing with navigation, streaming the graphics over to a proper monitor would be preferred. Other places one might locate such screens could be in bar booths, hab quarters, and of course, cockpit screens.
