I was told once by my friend who is a Naya aggro player, "I'm not mad at you per se, I'm mad at God because he made you this way...". This was after I slammed a Winter Orb after taking a 10 minute turn with my Brago flicker deck.
I remember a time when Winter Orb was so played in Type 2 that it seemed like it was almost the rules of Magic that you could only untap 1 land. It was good back then though since it kept blue decks from getting too good. I can't imagine how annoying it is in Commander.
So for those wondering Myrrel has the effect where everytime she attacks she makes Soldier tokens equal to how many Soldiers type creatures you currently have. Which means if u don't get rid of her quickly things spiral out of control fast with your opponent easily outnumbering you after 2 turns + the fact you can't use any kind of instant , sorcery, enchantment, and creature ability on your opponents turn as long as she exists on the field.
On Arena I have a deck for the "Play White spells" and "Destroy creatures" daily quests. It's a mono white deck that plays literally nothing but board wipes. There's around 30-35 board wipes and the rest is just to gain enough life that they're not able to whittle down between wipes. I don't care about winning as I only ever play that deck to get the quests done, but it wins over 50% of games from concedes where the opponent has lost every creature and enchantment in one/two turns for the entire game. Pros: rage concedes, means I don't have to play white in ranked cons: Indestructible, non-permanent win cons
@@cyruslupercal9493 the one time I enjoy seeing them is against this deck, "the Arena has spared you today, enjoy the free kill". In ranked burn decks I see are 0 skill, 0 deck crafting skill, just fling damage at player and then is just annoying as if I lose it feels like bad draw, and if I win it just feels like good draw
@@digimonvirtual00 idk if I got lucky but it wasn't until plat I saw a single shrine deck this season. Started high silver and won the majority of the games on the way though
As an Azorius player, I agree with all of your statements about white and blue. I do my best to remove all the Fun of Magic the Gathering quick as possible because I am dumb and useless.
Lol I usually just pillowfort and watch the rest of the table fight from behind my walls till there is one remaining and then play a big bad to wipe their remaining life like ulamog. Best play :P
My best friend adds white to green and just plays huge creatures with exile and pacifism-like cards, but claims he doesn't like or play removal and control. As payback I make decks with every single black or dimir card he hates.
@@sethb3090 I play almost anything with black or blue in it, mostly commander precons I find thematically and/or aesthetically cool. However my friend deserves nothing but xanathar's mill'n'steal deck for the war crimes he has committed against my fun decks. He thought turning my commanders into treasures was funny until I started doing it to him. With his own minimus containment.
@@pencilwatchesstuff791 I actually have to avoid white and black usually. I'm pretty chill playing red and blue, but if I put white and black in the same deck it's not a nice deck. I built a commander deck with Kambal, Consul of Allocation (W/B) once, and that's the only time my playgroup has banned a deck. After two games.
@@user-ko8pu5wu4l bruh i dont think you play standard if you think white is balanced (at least rn), mono white aggro has been the premiere deck of standard for the past 2 and a half years taking about 40-60 percent of all decks on the ladder.
@@foret2520 there is no way, you can't tell me mono white is played more than mono black with liliana of the veil, sheoldred, and now also phyrexian obliterator
@@user-ko8pu5wu4l fair you right, i haven't played standard for a few months, but my point still stands as far as the past two years go, weenie white has been the goat. but i can easily see how mono black is taking over with all the new recent prints
Counterpoint - not dying makes you live longer and if you live a long enough life, it's bound to have something interesting and exciting in it. Therefore not dying is actually interesting and exciting. Unless you are playing against another mono white player, in which case you both will be eternally waiting for something neither of you can provide. But still.
Lol, I feel so called out. I do find it between life gain/token spamming triggers its the most reliable way to break the Arena client. Never play out a game where both decks are running tokens in friendly match-ups. . .the client will literally crash.
Lmao I was playing angel lifegain against another angel lifegain deck and it was so glorious. Got to a point where we would timeout because of the amount of triggers on the stack after making a creature
Myrel, Shild of Argive is a good card though. Because it kind of counters blue counterspells, as long as you play at sorcery speed. So it restores fun. Also: You have 1 10/10 I have 10 1/1 we are not the same.
I have some game recordings, in the early days of Arena, went up against an infinite life gain, I have 10 minutes of the stack slowly grinding to a halt. It got slower and slower till it just stops and eventually he loses cuz he times out.
I made a monowhite thalia cedh deck and i only did it to make sure the other 3 players couldn't have fun, i don't even have a wincon in it because it's monowhite
Hate playing against white so much, but one time one of them timed me out with a nigh infinite life gain combo that took so much time it timed me out of the match and I have to give credit where credit is due that was pretty cool
just throw a bunch of Serra Paragon, Archangel of Thune, Reya Dawnbinger and Lyra Dawnbinger, some removal like Admonition Angel, Thraben Doomsayer, some life gain, Coat of Arms, something that makes your own stuff indestructible, board wipes, something to draw like Platoon Dispenser or Idol of Oblivion and something that bounce off your stuff for ETBs (like Ruin Ghost and Angel of Condemnation / Distinguished Conjurer (which also is a "new soul sister") and BAM, you've lost your friends
I _don't_ remember my favorite color, but aside from the Bant time deck I mentioned in the White Defense Squad video, I also had a mono-black deck that abused Gary to win off of an Exsanguinate-like spike. All I know is if you have to keep reassuring people that what you're saying is a joke, odds are it was never even that funny in the first place.
On an evil scale, blue players are worse than black players. One has their cards flavored around pain and suffering, the other has their deck built for that strategy. Mardu loves committing war crimes, yet everyone would rather face that than face blue players.
I'd subscribe if there was a possibility of being friends. My pod runs two-headed giant both commander and regular play, so you can do the stompy-stompy and I'll keep the whole not dying thing on lockdown for both of us.
The thumbnail is the one thing I can’t agree with god’s willing is so great edit 1:20 damn and they say yugioh cards have a ton of text I mean magic uses key words so that would be way longer without them
Man that was such a good game. White players have so much skill. And so many good options too. Anything that's too big you can just exile. And you gain so much life you don't need to worry about the occasional big swing. White really is an S-tier color. I'm not being sarcastic.
Oddly, this game actually looked like a real game lol This game felt like a story with an actual plot. A beginning, a middle, and an end. Usually it's either endless removal (black), endless counterspells (blue), or a game that HAS a story but it's a beginning then a war crime that skips the middle ends everything immediately (Red/Green) 😅 Actually, the mass exile reminds me alot of Black kill cards and Blue Counter cards... Just 10 turns of pure removal. Maybe these colors aren't so different after all 😆
My favorite commander deck is Eight-and-a-half-Tails. I haven't won any games with the deck but I've not lost most of them. It's like they say, be the problem you want to see in the world
That game looked alot like my first game of magic with a friend of mine. Except it was so much worse neither of us knew what we were doing so it was basically just "I hit you for 1 and I gain 1" then my friend "haha you fool I will also hit you for 1 and gain 1!" And that just sort of went on way to long
As a green (or rather Golgari) player that enjoys building his board state more than swinging (Dina soul steeper as commander + Life gain per turn + Bolas's citadel = good feels), I worry that if I play white I will become the worst type of white player: stax
I remember going to a booster draft for some zendikar set and pulling some Planeswalker with a mullet and the guy behind me was like "wow that's a good white card, are you feeling white?" and I said "I'm in a basement with 74 nerds playing magic the gathering, I've never felt whiter in my life"
I like playing a white eldrazi artifact deck because I can’t afford wastelands after getting the eldrazi (Thran gateway, Oswald fiddle, and the big eldrazi turn 5)
The only thing stopping me from improving my blue white control deck by pumping it full of some of the best of the best unfun for my opponent cards is the fact i would not have anyone left to play against. I dont play to win, i play to make your life hell.
My greatest joy was telling my Nephew to play Gideon Blackblade in his Standard deck when all the other blue white players planned on 3rd turning their Teferi Time Ravelers... lol, and seeing their faces when they didn't have an answer for the next 4 turns.
that spirit you killed. it's a win condition card. after what was it 4 or 3 turns they win, but it has to last until those turns and the cost to play it is 7.
My favorite deck that I like to play is White/Black Angel themed. It can kinda snowball out of control thanks to the angels buffing each other and healing. Summoning more angels heals and buffs more. It makes me laugh sometimes at how nuts it is
You should do videos like this but of a specific archetype. Like "in the mind of a combo player" and it's just I'm losing oops nevermind i drew the card I'm the best player ever Or like "I'm a goblin player" where you just are evily cackling while making 70000 Goblins a turn. Or the "Lotr player" who just plays lord of the rings cards and reenacts epic battles in their head when in reality they're just attacking with like a 2/2 or something
I hear what you're saying, but when my myrel, shield of argive deck beat my friend's krenko, Mob Boss deck it was one of the best feelings. Still not as much fun as green tho.
As someone who almost always plays with white in my deck. I couldn't stop cackling. I used Riot Control and Pacifism against my best friend when we started playing in earnest 2013-2014. He has flashbacks to this day. Suffice to say I still have 4 on hand of each years later. Ill splash them into my non white decks just to get that surprise factor every now and then and see him rage a lil inside. His favorite color is blue (and black) and he has made me hate counterspells from the bottom of my soul. Our matches are fun and pain full. White may be useless and blue may not have friends but I wouldn't trade those games for anything.
Hey, I figured out how to play white and have a bit of fun! If you stack 'gain 1/1 when you gain life' then you can basically play it as a less optimized green!
my green deck: unlimited hydra my white deck: how much stax can I fit into 100 cards my green white deck: it's your turn? search in response. you want to play something? search in response. want to counter my stuff? believe it or not, search in response. Brought to you by Sisay
As a white player, I can honestly say there is nothing worse than going up against another white player (or worse, an Azorius or Esper player), and have to suffer through all the things you should be doing to them. #RejectColors #EmbraceHumanTribal
with white players its a battle of attrition. Seeing two white decks "clash" is maddening. it's the ultimate example of trench warfare and why it's bad.
Me, I would probably be Forest, Mountain and Swamp (Green, Red, Black for people who don’t know what Magic The Gathering is in the comment section which would be a few people I imagine since a lot of non Magic players use RU-vid). VTuber Gawr Gura would be Island (blue), if she where a creature card in Magic The Gathering. Yugioh Dark Magician Girl would Swamp and Mountain (Black & Red). RU-vidr/VTuber Emirichu would be Forest and Plains (Green & White).
To be fair, occasionally White does get a mechanic and flavour homeruns like the Wandering Emperor card. Doesn't do anything offensively powerful. Just a cool gal with a blade that wants to help a pal out.
jokes aside this is a very valid argument, situations like these are indeed really bad game experiences. Whether you win or lose, you don't get gratification
Honestly, i’m okay with white so far. It’s black getting a board wipe on creatures that i’m unhappy with atm. “I sacrificed so many zombies, and you didnmt take any damage i just targetted someone else” yeah well i just played my second creature of the game, and then the guy you killed backseated me until i won my first game. thanks Aura i love ya bud, i sure like being able to draw… 4 more instant spells in a creature deck and needing 2 more land to play creatures. God this premade deck was kinda janky.
