Christodoulosk it’s not hard to be a professional dunker, technically LeBron is a pro dunker, shaq, Kobe, all the guys in the nba who dunk are pro dunkers why? Because they are already pro and they are doing it as a pro.

@Neal DoubleAA no, because more people have tried basketball than being a dunker. The question about odds is what percentage of those who started each sport could make money off it. And if there are 100 in the US that tried to make dunking a profession trying as hard as a basketball player, that is still such a small sample size compared to all the kids playing basketball.

@Neal DoubleAA Most professional basketball players CAN DUNK, just due to their height. In fact, there are a lot of short people who can dunk due to insane athleticism but can't compete in NBA cause of other reasons like getting blocked all the time or just being weaker.

I'm pretty sure it's harder being an nba player than just being an professional dunker. Every nba player don't have long careers, and you gotta focus on more than one part their game. Only thing these guys gotta focus on is dunking.

I think what he meant by "it's harder than being a professional basketball player" is, as a basketball player, you win by scoring points, the goal is to win the game wether you are entertaining or not but as professional dunkers, they will be solely judged on their dunking so they have to make it more entertaining every attempt because the purpose is to "show off" but he did go too far on that one lol.

Zac and Aaron's dunks were brought from Dupuy whether you like it or not Joel.. look at some of Kilganon's videos of his special dunks for example. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that these dunkers could outclass any NBA player ever in dunking.

If only I would have known that All those times of adjusting the rim in games of horse and trying those crazy dunks until we could do it at regulation height in games back in the day would have later on became a “pro” sport, I would have kept on doing it lol

People with enough skill to play in the NBA tend to play in the NBA, the money is far better than any other athletic thing they could do. People with the best jumping ability in the world tend to be Olympic High Jumpers, the accolades of Olympic glory means you go down in history and your country recognizes you. People who can't make it to the NBA and can't make it to the Olympics, but also have very good jumping ability, as well as coordination for aerial acrobatics == professional dunkers.

Everyone, it is harder in a sense that the dunking profession has an even smaller probability of sustaining in comparison to a player which is still very small. For a professional player, you can get yours, but a dunker, you have to win these contests to get any sort of recognition. I see what that means. Sure, it is just "dunking," but a lot of people can dunk and do that on different platforms, but these are the the ones that being shown. It is hard enough to get a 4 minute video of them talking about what they love to do. It is not the action that is hard, but to do it as a job is hard.

Entertain AND win? You’re more likely to win the better you are at entertaining. They’re non-mutually exclusive. It’s not like if you’re a chef who opens the a restaurant where you have to be a great cook, leader and business minded. Or if your accountant entering journals very robotically and still have high level critical thinking for analyzing data and finding loopholes in legal system that are beneficial to a business. Your main job is to have the most entertaining dunk and if you can out entertain someone else, you win. Basketball 5 on 5 has MUCH more variables than professional dunking. Never the less, guy depuis is a monster at his craft.

To be fair, he most likely means "as a dunker" ... Sure these dunkers more than likely can't shoot, dribble or play as good as NBA players, but most NBA Players also couldn't dunk nearly as good as these guys.

Well, unpopular opinion here. When he started comparing himself to LaVine and Gordon. And he said pro dunking is way harder than the NBA..... Gordon and LaVine are NBA players. So the dunk contest is something they do on the side. Yes they have better dunks than those two, but he completely ignored the fact that those 2 play in the NBA, having back to backs, 3 in 4s..... he only saw dunking.

Bottom line...this is not harder than playing ball pro. WTH? Many people with practice can do this. Swing both arms back, them throw them upwards to get more height on leap. There’s a reason these guys don’t dribble into these dunks. They either bounce it or grab it, allowing them to do that swing action into the jump. Basic parkour or high jump technique. That said, it takes practice to master grabbing the ball and the movements to dunk; but it doesn’t take the same skill to play ball. Any scrub could learn to do this.

Pro dunking is cool and all but its not hard as being a pro bball player. The creativity of these youtube dunkers will always be cool but it cannot match the spontaneity and intensity of a dunk done during an actual game especially against competetive defense. A creative in-game dunk is more impactful than the ones in a contest because the dunker did it in a less controlled environment.

Guys when Isaiah Rivera said that being a pro dunker is harder than being a player he meant that dunkers are paid a lot less than NBA players and there is no exact career path, so if you choose to be a pro dunker and make enough money with it, you have to struggle a lot and be one of the bests, and still you won't make a lot of money.
