Insignia counter top ice maker failure (resolved)

Our Insignia counter top ice maker (purchased from Best Buy) began to leak water from around the base.
I removed the rear and side cover and discovered the water supply line to be cracked and almost “dry rotted”. I was able to locate similar sized line from a local hardware store.
After reinstallation of new line, I also discovered the leak to have short circuited the electric fan.
I was able to locate a fan on Amazon, using the original fan’s label, for less than $20.
A little wire stripping and soldering and the ice maker is back in business.

Bull, these things are great to keep in a hot bedroom. But if you can't walk and chew gum at the same time, the fan replacement would insurmountable to you.

Had mine 3 months and it is leaking all over the counter.. Think you may have solved my problem. Tips hat. Will check out your other content. Subscribed with both channels ..

I’m trying to figure out what wrong with mine. No clog in the water supply line and no sign of leaking, but the fan won’t turn on and water won’t run through the line. Any ideas?

Do you have power at all to the unit (does the LED light up?)

I searched my Amazon and couldn’t pull up an order that old. However, below is what I believe to be similar to what I’ve bought. Before buying, measure the distance of the bolt pattern and/or overall size of the fan. Remember, I had to cut the end of the electrical connector and solder the wires together. Is there different type of fuel lines in sizes.. I need to fix mine

Yes there are. And several that “look” like they would work going off of memory. Take an old piece with you to the hardware or parts store and that should help. Good luck!

It could be the actuator motor or wiring. However, I would disassemble that area first and check that the physical system, like the slides, levers and etc are not gummed up with debris or algae. After that, check that your wiring to the motor is intact. If all looks good, use a VOM to make sure the motor is getting the proper amount of voltage. Hope this helps.
