As those of you who have been watching this channel for a while would know, I've been running a Next LEvel Racing Motion Platform V3 (Seat Mover) and Traction Plus traction loss system for quite some time now and have been pretty happy with them, but the time ahs come to upgrade to a full motion rig which moves the entire cockpit!
So follow along as we get the D-Box 4250i Generation 3 D-Box installed and take it for its first drive!

Having the iRacing dashboard as your desktop background is the best way to make sure everything is lined up before launching the sim. So damn smart! I had to do it myself after this because its just smart!

My son's business has the Simworx V2 motion sim. The racing harness is attached to the non moving part of the frame with air cylinders. The added affect that the harnesses tightening on your shoulders under braking takes the immersion to an even higher level.

Awesome, finally added heave. Great work The tactile part of the D-box surely looks very impressive and is a big plus on the SFX100. I'm pretty sure you will slam the NLMv3 on the rig to give the combo one more try, but once you get used to having a real rock solid seat, the wobble and play of the V3 will probably bother you too much. Next upgrade has to be a GS-5 and an active belt tensioner. (speaking from experience :) )

Try doing some off road in BeamNG with that rig now. The map called American Road, which can be found in the game repository, has a long mountain road trail. That will be quite the experience with that motion rig!

Agreed road texture and feel is very important, but you can get this with the motion seat as well by adding transducers. Add 4 for each wheel, and one under the seat, and you'll feel every tiny rock on the road.

Very different for those that tried a d-box. This has vibration that spans the whole range of frequencies from tactile to motion. Think of 4 direct drive wheel type motion cues on all 4 corners.

Put a Simxperience GS-5 G-Seat with G-Belt on top of that and you'd have the dream setup I think.

Yes, but even better exchange the G-belt for a DIY 4-Belt tensioner in stead, those 2 extra belts adds SO much to the immersion.

Good vid. You always provide great info even for the stuff we can't all afford. This is important. Thanks for that! I assume you are using an SLR for video rather than a video camera. SLRs have an annoying habit of "hunting" (going in and out of focus). Can I suggest you go to manual focus to avoid that? SLRs have good enough depth of field to do this. Either that or go back to a video camera. They do not tend to have the same problem. Keep up the great technical content when you get the opportunity. Cheers.

That is absolutely amazing. A must have I think for the complete setup. A quick question how is the 488 so twitchy? To me the 488 gt3 seems so planted. Is this like a custom aggressive setup on the car?

Awesome video as usual! It's amazing how much getting "proper heave" does a lot in simulating what the car is doing. I have always wondered do you notice the lack of TL? I have debated adding TL to my setup, but I don't know if the added immersion is worth the extra $$$

Hey Will, if you can get your hands on the Geko Cobra G seat do install it with the dbox. You will feel a much more complete experience, I tune the engine vibration down by 2/3 btw. :)

Great vid and product looks awesome. Feels like pricing in this segment is a combination of opportunistic at the moment/financing R&D/set up costs. Hope to see these eventually reach more accessible levels. At 2000 EUR I’d seriously consider but tough to justify for myself at current levels.

For future reference you don't need 4 sets of scales to find your centre of gravity. Stick a broom handle left to right under the whole rig, sit in it and get a friend to roll the rig over the "roller" until it balances. Mark this point and equi-space your actuators from this point. If they had motion rigs in ancient Egypt.....

Yeah... That is the easiest and obvious way to balance any rig. I don't know why it isn't much suggested for people. Your comment is first I am reading about it, and it was first thing I did to balance my rig. Easy to get it alone for couple mm accuracy. And if the rig footing is oddly shaped, then get a matching size plywood to be used as flat platform. You can do it alone if you have something to grab on, or get feets on ground to push yourself back and forth.

@@RedfoxQc 100% I have checked them out. Software doesn't support at lot of games yet as they are still new. Hopefully that will change in time. I recommend sxf100 if you are on a strict budget, the thanos controller and SRS combo is some of the best and convenient software out there

You would brake the traction loss system It isn't designed for a rig that is moving around on it

It can work with the right setup. SRG did it. Just need rotating castors for the actuators to sit on.

On Simexpo I tried motion for the first time and there were so many different types of motion. Some leaning into the corner, giving you inverted forces, some lifting up half a meter (slightly exaggerated) throwing you around on massive actuators. Some totally out of sync with what happens on the screen, actually making me a bit sick. Then there was the D-Box rig at Phoenix Racing. What an experience. The minimalistic movement felt so spot on. Combined with the recaro podium seat, this was the best experience of Simexpo 2021. This somehow destroys the competition, I know I will never be able to afford this, bit I will never be buying anything else either...

That probably says more about the way others had their systems set up than it does about the products themselves. It’s like when you go to an electronics store and all the TVs have the brightness and contrast cranked to stand out.

Will is right, the lag between motion and visuals on screen have more to do with rigs being setup so the motion looks good on camera. There are many solutions at different price points you could consider- DBox, sfx100/150, Prosimu, sigma integrale, Qubic Systems and PT Actuators all viable options. So there maybe hope still 😂

Why not combine the seatmover with the dbox? A seatmover gives you sway and surge (so g forces when breaking, accelerating and leaning in curves) while the full motion rig gives you pitch and roll (so the actual car angle) plus heave, so g forces in the vertical axis. I currently have a diy seatmover, my next step will be to add a full motion rig to it (probably sfx100). I only wonder if traction loss will be also worth it, because that would be a biig step up.. Well, just right now that I've finished this you said "we'll ad things up again later"... I'll still leave this here since most people seem to get the difference between a seatmover and full motion wrong and only say "how dump, the seat in a real car won't move". 😂 Keep up the great work 👌

Very interesting. I'm really looking forward to your trying the seat mover on top, and your thoughts. I've been contemplating adding a sfx100 kit underneath my diy seat mover, keeping surge and sway on seat mover, with pitch, roll, and heave on the platform. I feel that the seat mover may simulate acceleration, braking, and shifting better than the platform. Looking forward to more of your testing.

bro try some iems they will be lot more comfortable while driving and will block external noise pretty well , try sennheiser ie 300 they r really good will block noise and its really comfortable u will feel like u r wearing nothing on ur head it will reduce the heavy bulk on ur head as u already have a camera mounted on ur head , try it u will never regret ur decision, its really light in weight and its shape makes it really comfortable, it sounds really good V shaped iem it is a warm sounding iem with good deep and clear sub bass and it has great imaging and soundstage provide great passive isolation ,and the highs r clear and airy nice detailing and bass quality , really enjoyable tonality good for music games and movies , u can wear them for many hours without any heat or discomfort, try it u will love em

Will... also i think that you should join the facebook SFX-100 community ..... To start , or even think about building an affordable motion rig. That even semi serious sim racers could experience. And document this in a series of parts videos in between your normal videos that you put out. It's honestly NOT hard at all and for around 2k .You dont need to be an engineer. An other thing to add. You don't even have to shop the whole internet for parts to build one, The SFX-100 has come on a long way since even last year. So there are vendors out there that have the majority of the parts all in one place. Also there are semi built systems that cost just a over 2k. Still very much affordable.

It’s definitely something I’d like to look at into the future. It’s just too difficult right now with lockdowns and everything going on on top of our current workload to take on any more projects like that. We still haven’t built the new wall Pc or the DD2 powered go kart

The Traction platform was only on loan so will likely go back to NLR. Will probably sell the seat mover as it’s something I bought. I love it but I love the Dbox more (as you would expect for the price).

@@boostedmedia D-Box is overpriced so I wouldn´t say it´s better just because it cost much more. You can get SFX-150 under price of NLR V3 and there is 150mm movement instead of D-Box 38mm

for the algo love the videos just built my dream all evga pc with an intel 10850k and evga ftw3 3080ti, evga ftw z590, evga clc 360 aio, evga 1000watt supernova psu all inside corsairs 5000d airflow and looking to start building a better sim then the cheap 100 dollar mount for the xbox wheel lol wont be able to afford this stuff but have the pc to power whatever
