Do you want to add the factory recovery hooks to your 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty? This project is quick, cheap and fairly easy to do! I'll walk you thru the steps of how to remove your bumper, install the hooks, and put it all back together.
Please 👍 the video if you enjoyed it or learned something, and comments are always appreciated!

My 02 sport model has easy access to those bolts. Installed a Guard on the front and didnt have to take anything off👍

That is good to know! I know that there are some unique features of the 2002 year, including the higher springs for the first half of the production year. Now I can add this to the list! Thanks for watching, and for the like!

You can install the Mopar Recovery Hooks from underneath. Recovery Hooks installed without taking grill and bumper off. U bolt short end up thru front hole using long end to control & drop short end thru second hole. 3rd bolt sleeve slides in from side. Hardest part was cutting out bumper

You just need a socket wrench to tighten 10-15 min topz

That is probably the case, but I had the clip-on nuts from the salvage yard pull, and it is nearly impossible to reach in and clip them on, much less keep them lined up. Taking the bumper off isn't that hard, and if I wasn't filming it, it would have taken about 25-30 minutes start to finish. I did practice tho on the bumper at the salvage yard so I knew better what I was doing when I took my bumper off... and that is why I made the video so that someone who is wanting to do the same thing can have a head start. Thanks for the tip - plenty of ways to accomplish the same task and hopefully we've helped some people out!

Some people like to make a mountain out a mole hill. That is what he did in this video. Cutting the bumper is the hardest part.

I saw it brought her up but still aren’t sure, is there a way to have a bull bar that’s mounted to the tow hook spot and somehow add tow hooks as well. Mainly, is it possible to drill new holes for tow hooks near the stock spot without hurting the bumper integrity.

I was planning on using some universal tow hooks from a local hardware store as they are much cheaper than the OEM tow hooks. It would take a little modifying of the bumper as well. Looking for some in a junk yard might be a better option though. Thanks for the informative vid man!

If you can find them at the salvage yard, have the tools to remove them (especially if they are a bit rusted into place), then that is defiantly the way to go. I learned when working on my XJ that you can mod somethings to work where you want them and other things are better to use OEM if available. Good luck with your project and thanks for watching!

Are these sturdy enough to recover from? I've seen two types, the kind with the plate bracket like you have and the kind with the u bolt. Is one better than the other? Are both safe to recover from?

Hello! I enjoyed wtching your video! Did you get the tow hooks from another Jeep Liberty or they came from a different vehicle? Have you see them online as well? Please let me know.- Thank you in advance

Nice work my friend !! I just subscribe to your channel !! I want to ask you something: this pregriled holes is the same spot that you can put bumper guards / bull bars ? Because I want to make A DIY front bull bar , and I try to find out. And something else : I should search a front recovery hook for Liberty ? Because I found only “universal” types of suv hooks 🪝!! Thank you 😎

Good question... I have seen people who use the channels created by the unibody up front and behind the bumper cover. This is a good spot for an aftermarket bumper or bull-bar, so I imagine it would work for a DIY one as well. I got these tow hooks at a salvage yard. If you search on eBay you'll find some specific hooks for your KJ, if you'd rather not go to a salvage yard. Good luck with your project and thanks for watching 👍!

@@eXperimentalJeep thank you very much!! The problem is that I live in Greece, and everything from e-bay.com store are extremelly expresive (cause of the transportation and tax cost).. Imagine that If one part for kJ costs for example 50$, the transportation (incl. taxes) it is another 50$...!! amazing! :( If you have any link for the hooks (similar with those) from e-bay please put it here, thx again!

You could try to weld some plate steel into that spot... However, my concerns would be that you bent something else when you yanked it out (it's not the strongest part of the Jeep, but it was designed to be used as a recovery point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ), and also if you are having to go in and refabricate part of your bumper... Maybe it's time to look at a replacement/upgraded bumper? Lots of options out there that have very beefy recovery points built-in, plus spots for a wench, fog lights, stinger, etc. If you are handy with the welding gun... Give it a go. If you don't know the difference between TIG and MIG welding, than maybe an aftermarket bumper would be your best bet. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Thanks for the comment... And the like!

I actually got them off a donor vehicle at a local salvage yard. I'm sure you can order them on eBay, but it'd be cheaper to do it yourself at the local pick-n-pull... Assuming you have the resources. Thanks for the comment, and for the like!
