@ 2:25 it looks like it is sitting on the radiator top crimps, I realize it has some room when you tighten everything down, but I was thinking with the lovely roads and the weight of a full filter on that bracket it will be bouncing and moving, I would put some rubber under the mount to protect the radiator.

I installed one from Riffraff along with a coolant flush and new coolant. The Donaldson filter stopped completely up the first week, the second one made it a month and now I go a year. The first 2 filers were completely full of sand and rust. My 2000 7.3 has 200k miles and the original water pump

If you're using the older gold or green coolant that could be expected. If you're using red coolant and this is happening you might want to investigate

The blocks were cast with sandstone, fun fact. That’s why you get so much sand!

You might want to put some rubber under the mount so it doesn't rub on the radiator, I would also move the hose clamp so it is not rubbing on the upper hose @ 5:38. Other then that it looks like a good kit. If I had your cooling issues i would put one on my truck too.

I just thought about putting it on my truck for better coolant filtration. Maybe I'm wrong to do this.

This guy has real fast fingers! That is a good thing to have! Now where was I? This might be good for my 2000 7.3?

Trey, do you think adding a kit like this would catch all the crap that normally settles inside the engine? I'm just wondering if a kit like this can prevent rust buildup that needs to be flushed out of the engine (removing engine drain plugs). I'd do this just to avoid all the work associated with a through engine flush procedure, since a filter change and draining coolant is so much easier. Thoughts?

How in the world did you get that plug out of the water pump housing. Mine is thread locker and rusted in place!

Well at the time my truck was 10 years younger. Maybe I just got lucky?

What coolant did you use to top off your original coolant?

Any Ideas what the other ports you capped off are used for? Could one be used for a Temp Sensor you think?

Do you have a link for this? I just bought a 1999 7.3 and want to do this to my truck. Thank you Jason Eads

+Trey Spooner I can't get the 3/8" square head pipe plug out. Anyone else have this problem? What did you do if you had the problem?

+K Wells try it with the engine warmed up. If it works, break it loose, let it cool then remove it. Don't take it out with it hot.
