That’s awesome to hear man! I really appreciate that and I’m happy they are helping people. If there is anything in particular you’d like to see on the channel let me know and I’ll do my best to create some content on that! Cheers, Dave
Put it on the inside if it's in a hot attic. My HVAC guy put mine on the outside. Now I'm dealing with a constant rusty pond in my drip tray in the attic. They've tried to insulate it THREE TIMES now, and the insulation just eventually gets wet and falls off. Glad the drip tray is holding up, but worried it will eventually leak onto my ceiling.
Question of what copper fitting you are using to step down from the effectively 3/4" rigid copper in the coil (suction exit) to the OD 0.75" of the 3/4 refrigerant line. That seems like a special insert reduction fitting, which you used a 90 degree, but also assume it comes in straight.
Thank you so much. I love your videos. If you have an opportunity to do a video on ACiQ heatpump xtreme heat with Air handler install that will be very helpful. I going through one right now. if you are interested let me know I will share my info. I am in MD.
letting pressure off like that is dangerous id never do it. saw a guy cut a little to much it blew the cap off and almost took his eye out. Always just loosen the bolt
Can someone comment on the differences in setup. ac vs heatpump. can a heatpump use either txv or piston. what else to consider. Can you mix and match condenser and evap coils. I know you consult on that and I may do that. Thanks dave.
This look 10x better than mine, I want mine removed and done like this. The plastic grommet on the could is all melted from the braze job. Makes me mad.
@The DIY HVAC Guy I have been cleaning up the install mastic all over, wires all running in front of panels etc. When I adjusted the capillary tube 20 minutes ago the capillary tube started leaking. As mentioned the tech braze job is pretty bad and he had weakened part of the capillary tube with his torch and now I have a pinhole-leak on the capillary tube. 😱
@@tuanische oh no! While it still has positive pressure you could pump that freon into the condensing unit to do the repair. Then vacuum the system and let the freon back out. If you haven’t seen my other videos on that check them out.
I have watched about 6 of your vids. (maybe more) No luck finding the recapture vid, but I did see we are in the same state when I saw your Publik coffee mug. Used to go there when I worked in SLC. Great place.
In plumbing when you connect two lines u need coupler in this case at 2:11 you just slipped the connector without any coupler. So question is do we need to expand existing copper line or I can use coupler
Great helpful video! I have two Goodman CAPF3636A6DB 3-ton coils. Replacing the two 2-Ton Freus condensers bcs they are crap. Can I and my contractor add a Goodman 2-3 Ton TXV to each coil and then replace the two Freus condensers with two 2-ton Goodman condensers? This home is a rental and only 1900 square feet. Even in El Paso, TX 4 tons total should be enough and 6 tons would be overkill. I called Aspen tech support. In my house, also El Paso, the coils have factory installed TXV and the tech said it was no problem to change the 5 ton to a 4 ton condenser and the 3 ton to a 2 ton. 8 tons of cooling would be utter overkill for 2900 square feet. Had I known in 2015 what I know now, I would have never let that company install the current system. I have not had one year that something didn't go wrong with the AC...that is why the Freus cindensers have to go. No problems with any of the other components...thanks in advance. Goodman tech support will not talk to puny homeowners...only licensed professionals 😢 Would you also recommend installing a hard-start capacitor in my condenser? Based on what I read, this capacitor gives an extra jolt of electricity upon startup to push the refrigerant against higher head pressures that are present with a TXV system.
Yes you can purchase the correct size field installed txv and install them in an existing coil. Also I just uploaded a video on hardstart kits. I think they’re a great addition to any condenser new or old. If you need some help or advice, feel free to check out our membership over at Patreon.com/diyhvacguy Cheers
@The DIY HVAC Guy thank you for the superfast reply...and yes, I will subscribe to, as well as financially support your channel!. I will retrofit the condensers with hard-start capacitors and coils with TXVs at my other properties...and any future systems my contractor and I install for anyone else will have those to items as well.
Thnx! Im a DIYer and I acquired a TXV from an estate sale a few years ago and low and behold soon i will be replacing an Evaporator and that txv valve matches the system but i dont have the pipe attachment. I am contemplating using a line tap but worried about leaks maybe ill solder one in instead, just need to have the Schrader removed
There is another video of the new furnace with a new ac coil that you installed but you didn’t install the txv valve , why? Not all the coils need a txv valve installed?
It probably just needs to be torqued. I’ve had a few develop a leak there. I’ve since purchased an adjustable torque wrench. It should have 30ft lbs of pressure on that nut. It’s not a flare, there is a seal in there. And the seal is what seals against the two pipes.
