Made a quick video of how I installed the winch on my bike, I ran into a few issues, but all in all it wasn't too bad. Definitely better than paying the dealer do do it for you. Hope the video helps you!

Looking good. Winch is a must have for sure. I just installed a 3500 LB. on my 700 Arctic Cat Trail. Took me a couple days off and on. Finally got it figured out.

OH Man you said it right, it's a must have. I usually say #1 better tires #2 a Winch and #3 could be a storage box or heated grips haha Sometimes they can be a B*tch to install....

Hi, just installed one on mine 17 grizzly and had similar issues . The mounting bracket was ok but the instructions did not show the same control relay . Took a bit of extra time to install but happy with the results...used dielectric grease on all connectors (was not in the kit). Also put the positive cables in some insulating loom (princess auto) for more protection against rubbing trough and causing a dead short to the frame ...Did remove the front bumper for easier access... Thanks for your video..
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 7 лет назад
Hey man, I need to go back over mine and use the dielectric grease, I just used rust check, and I feel like the grease would be better. I may put my wires in some loom too ! I have some extra stuff from my old Grizzly, good idea! glad you liked the video !

Ahh gees, surprised the kit was a bit of a hassle.. usually they are pretty plug and play and don’t need to much modification. Either way glad it worked out in the long run. I’ve run into that I know with a few installs for some things on the brute force here where I had to modify somethings to get things to work out! Thanks for sharing buddy! Take care, cheers!

you should for sure, my father got his sled stuck, and he wasn't able to get it out by himself, luckily my brother was close by and came over and got him out, I think he's got a winch for his sled now too. thanks for watching Will !

Nice, thanks for video , just got a 2021 Grizzly and want to put a winch ... Warn winches seem a bit pricy, how's it held up? How's their warranty ?
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 2 года назад
Hey man, it's held up great, I've always had good luck with my Warn Winches, BUT if you watch my videos I'm not much of a Mud guy so I dont use them unless I have too. if you dont want to pay for the Warn, you could always get a "Super Winch" they are cheaper and have good reviews. my brother had one on his old Kodiak and it was a solid winch.

Hey Pat ! yeah those Super Winches are a tough winch ! they used to be sor of a "no name" winch, that was sold at Costco I believe haha but man they are tough ! my brother had one on his Kodiak back in the day.

@jasonmorehouse3756 4 года назад
the winch was a 30 min install on my 18 kodiak 700, outside on a sunny -10c dy in the snow. that wire you cut off could have been left and hooked up in a daisy chain, it only draws about 200mv. fortunatly my winch plate bolted right on, no drilling. install was under 10 min, the other 20 min was running wire up for the switch
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 4 года назад
Hey Jay ! yeah that stupid winch plate pissed me off but I got it to work. not a hard job just a few things that were a little tough. thanks for watching !

Have you had any issues with the solenoid being down there? I mounted mine there but am debating if I should try and move it up higher.
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 4 года назад
Hey man ! Seriously I felt the same way you did, I thought "What a stupid design to put that solenoid that low..." but I haven't had a moments issue with it, I dont do much deep mud riding but Im always going through water holes and regular trail riding dirt and have never had an issue. I did put dielectric grease on all those connections and I plan on taking them off, cleaning them and reapplying more grease here soon.

You should have investigated more. Grizzlys are prewired for the Warn winch. There is a connector for the wire so you don’t have to use the pigtail. I used my pigtail for my heat demon hand grips and also for a set of LED lights. The connector is under the battery cover. Nice bike. I have the exact yeah and colour bike.
@Maritimer

Hey man, thanks for the tip, I'll have to check, I think I used that pre-wired plug for my heated grips, but I cent remember now, I know I'm using the pre-wired one for something haha I love the bike so far ! just really cold here now, so no riding but I have editing time haha

Hey Right on man, I'm from Porters Lake, its just outside Hali, I live in Moncton now though. I do go riding in winter, I like it more to be honest, bike stays nice and clean and we have groomed ATV trails here too, it's just been really cold here lately, -15 and with the wind its -30, I don't go out in that haha I was actually in Halifax on Thursday for work, no snow there, it was nice and cool though.

I am a little confused on how you can make this. The 3000 lbs winch's normal operation current is over 200 Amps. But the battery in Yamaha Grizzly 700 cannot provide such big current. I think the battery is only 12V 16A. Since 16A is far smaller than 200A. It seems the winch will not be able to work for a long time. Could you please tell me how you figure this out? Thank you very much.
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 7 лет назад
Hey man, we'll you sound like you know more about electronics than I do, I bought the kit from Yamaha and they are partnered with Warn, and I figure they have it figured out. They have been putting 3000+ winches on ATV's and SXS for years with no issues. Sorry I couldn't help you more..

Right behind the winch, by the front differential. I thought it was a bit low so I really used a lot of dielectric grease.

Hey man, the winch and plate came with the bike (Yamaha comes with a winch) but like I said in the video, the plate is not perfect for my year Grizzly, so I had to re-drill two mounting holes. you can buy a plate that perfectly fits your bike, but they run you $60+ CAD

Good job. Too bad you ran into a couple of issues, especially since you got the winch from the dealer and it was intended for use on a Yamaha ATV. As I have not had the best luck with warn winches in the past, I decided to give the Superwinch Terra line a try on the new machine. Really good installation with the proper mounting plate made installation easy. It even included a separate remote connector with and extension remote switch so that the winch can be operated while not on the ATV. Have used it several times now and have not run into any issues thus far. The rope style winch cable is nice, but costs a bit more. As I heard that you really have to do maintenance on the rope if you ride in muddy or boggy conditions, I decide to stick with the old reliable wire rope this time. However, the new winch has a spool that can accept the rope if I decide to change it out. Only will need to change the type of fair lead on the winch (as the roller style does not work with the rope. All the best with everything. Now you got to get out and ride. Hopefully, the snow has melted a bit there in NB. We have lost a good portion of what we had. Warm temps for tomorrow so I am hoping to get out for a run myself.
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 7 лет назад
I know eh, thats what I was thinking, if I got it from Yamaha it would fit no problem.. thats awesome, My brother had a super winch and never had an issues, and the buddy I went riding with the other day had one and it works well for him. yeah I will probably keep the cable until it becomes worn, I put a rip and new fair lead on my old bike, and always cleaned the ripe after muddy rides. I ended up getting out riding the next day and it was beautiful, groomed trails, +8, sunny haha working on editing my video now.

How much do those bighorns slow it down?
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 6 лет назад
Hey Justin, I don't find it slows it down at all to be honest, I got it up to 103 klm/hr which is like 60+ miles and it would have kept going a bit, maybe 110 but I don't like holding it wide open like that, she's still sort of new haha but yeah if you have a bigger bore bike you probably won't have any problems, now if you ride a 420 Honda or something small then yeah you may notice the heavier tires. hope that helps ya, thanks for watching !

haha I want a light bar but I hate when things stick out and don't look sort of stock, do you know what I mean? like just sticking a light bar on my front rack... I hate that "look" so I'd probably try to find a way to hide a smaller light bar somewhere, maybe like a smaller LED bar to go right above my winch roller, I saw it on another guys Grizzly, looked good and wasn't so noticeable. I also have my Rigid Dually Pods I took off my old grizzly, I could try to find a spot for those.
