After driving so many cars and trucks with backup cameras, I figured why not add one to the Forester! I already had the head unit and it was capable of working with a camera sooo why not add one!

You can get a backup cam for the Forester SG that replaces one of the plate lights includes an LED, looks 100% oem, build and pic quality of the one I have is excellent. 5 years on still good.

@@CarsAndCody I’m gonna try one that replaces the license plate light cover, and retains the existing light bulb. Not entirely sure how the camera’s wiring will affect the bulb’s housing yet.

@@peepeepoopoo-x6h Go to aliexpress.com and search for "forester back up reverse camera", or "rear", "reverse" etc. Note the model years supported I went with a camera with a narrower 4-pin connector so I didn't have to feed bigger RCA jacks through. Unfortunately none of the cameras with mounting plates came with that, so I used a separate mounting plate. Some have built-in LEDs like this this one www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001733509024.html But I ended up with one that used the factory license plate light, works ok www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001733184793.html

Thanks for the video man, I just picked up a cheap head unit with a backup camera and was looking for the best way to route the wiring for my 04.

So whats the plan for the future, are you going VF or bigger? Trust me, if you got vf you will not regret it, you just need a walbro 255 or equivalent fuel pump, 2 step cooler spark plugs, and a sti catless up-pipe and you've got the makings for a really fun car! !!
