I have watched you for many years, Ian, and to find that you battle the shop clutter like I do, is such a pleasant surprise. Thanks for showing us that side of you. I really like your rolling parts storage for upcoming projects. I need that, too, and wish you'd show us a bit more of those shelves. Also, awesome video on the trailer brakes and fenders. My fenders need replacement, too, and you've shown me what I need to do to make that happen. Thanks!!

You could make a removable tire mount that goes in the stake pockets. Make it longer than the pocket so you have room to put holes for a pin below it. Then if it’s in the way for a particular haul. Move it to another pocket.

I use compressed air to blow out from under stuff, blow towards the middle of the shop, then sweep up the big middle. It works and minimizes dust in the air but saves moving stuff around.

I shop vac either end of day or first thing in the morning everyday. Maybe a little excessive, but I feel so much better & motivated working in a clean shop than I used to in a dirty shop! Really surprising how keeping my shop clean makes me want to do better quality work.
@Joe___R
@Joe___R Год назад
The best thing to do when working on a big job is to keep an empty toolbox for the tools you are using on that job. At the end of the job or the end of the day. You clean & put away all the tools you had out. This keeps you better organized and prevents you from losing tools. The way you left your shop, there is no way you were able to quickly find half of the tools you had out. Keeping organized as you go does actually save you time in the long run because you are not wasting time looking for tools or parts.

If you adding new electrical outlets down your wall, say 4-6 in a line/circuit. As long as the first outlet closest to your electrical panel is a GFI outlet then all the other outlets after that will be protected by the GFI. At least that's code were I live.

You can get replacement spindles made to weld into the axle tube. It makes a great spare tire carrier to use a spindle and hub with the added benefit of having a spare hub on hand without taking up space.

Motobuilt fenders are cool, but @ eight bills + shipping... think they'd out value my ol 19' tip deck! For my spare tire, I used a piece of C channel that drops into any of the stake pockets: remove or relocate as needed. A length of chain padlocks to itself to keep it from "growing legs".
@BigTireGarage

Yeah they aren't "cheap" but once I priced the steel to build my own it was only a couple hundred less....I also priced a new trailer...and it was almost 7G..this one was bought for 1800 bucks brand new...
