Finally finishing up my 1LE Z28 with finished exhaust so I can get some miles on the new motor. Granted this is with long tube headers and off road catted Y pipe but it is very loud. If you want the loudest exhaust possible for your 4th gen camaro this is the way to go. Even outside the shop it sounds the same. Driving it with this exhaust doesn’t sound much different then just driving with the Y pipe except all the noise is behind me vs underneath the car.

I had one of these on my 02 SS back in 2002/2003. I loved that car. Was loud as hell when you got on it, I remember flooring it along the freeway frontage road late at night and it sounded like it echoed for miles lol

I have SLP loudmouth on my TA, and I absolutely love it. Especially on cold starts in the garage. Good choice!

Had a chance to drive it today and do some hard pulls. I’ve decided it’s going to piss some people off, but it’s not too loud for me. It’s actually just about right when it’s pulling over 6 grand. Definitely keeping it how it is!

The best sounding exhausts for the 3rd and 4th gen Camaro/Trans Am is the SLP Loudmouth 1 and 2, the Flowmaster 80 series, and the GMMG chambered system. My favorite out of the 3 is difficult, between the FlowMaster 80 series and the SLP Loudmouth, with long tube headers of course

I gotta watch again! Plus, I am not sure about the clamps at the back that you hate. I don't have a laptop or smart TV, actually mine TV is 13", but I can't see them. Old school clamps? Watching again.

I like it. Curious...I noticed the trim piece is broken on your door. Is the fastener for the door handle missing or broken? I ask because I had the same thing. If it is, a rivnut works a treat as a simple fix. Loving your content btw.

The trim piece isn’t broken on either screw hole, don’t exactly know how the previous owner broke it. My other Camaro is broken in the screw holes though. This one also needs a center console door and a new shifter boot and bezel. Also broken by previous owner. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments. Alway appreciated!

Nice !! Still torn between this setup and the speed engineering true dual set up with 1 3/4 headers, wanting it louder but not obnoxiously loud

Guys. Loudmouth 2 is where it’s at. SLP makes it for a reason. Back in the early 2000s when the Loudmouth came out, the resonator was just made into the intermediate pipe (and it was also stainless). Guys that ended up doing headers down the road would often complain about the raspiness and cut out and replace the resonator with a bullet-style muffler. SLP decided to get in on that and came out with the Loudmouth 2. It’s still loud as piss and tones down the raspiness, if that’s not your thing.

You used to be able to remove the baffling in the lm2 to make it a loudmouth 1. They made sure you can't do that now lol. I had a lm1 on my trans am years back and it was too loud in the cab. Going for the lm2 again this time

You should get a GMMG/ Madhammer chamberre4d exhaust. Best sounding for f-bodies.

Honestly at 6500 RPM almost anything sounds good😁. But it’s the factory cats put on everything that really destroys the sound.

I've been considering adding a cutout to my LS1 Fbody's flowmaster system to gain the ability to become a neighborhood nuisance at the flick of a switch, but skepticism of leaks/rattles and being low on the priority list has kept me away from it thus far.
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 Год назад
I have though about electric cutouts on a few vehicles, but all my research has revealed that most of them quit working after a few years. For what they cost it isn’t worth it to me to have to replace them that often. If I found a brand that actually worked under normal use for a longer timeframe I would be highly interested in a set.

Sounds great man!!! Just a quick couple of questions, Is there any possible way to add a muffler to that cat back system? Does SLP offer one that would fit? And if they don’t is it possible to fabricate a muffler to fit? Cause I have pretty much exactly the same setup you have there on my 2001 Z28. But my problem is my neighbors are about to brick my car because the cold start is waking up my whole block. The full exhaust system ended being a LOT louder than I expected it to be. And it’s also insanely “raspy” Any advice for a guy that might get evicted from his apartment because his Camaro was too loud? I have Speed Engineering long tube headers, Speed Engineering Y pipe, and a SLP LM1 cat back.
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 Год назад
SLP and a few others make resonators that will fit into the rear pipes after the axle but since they sit right before the tips they won’t quiet it too much. They will change the tone a little too. I don’t know if they will quiet it down enough with close neighbors but that might be an option before you were to completely replace the cat back with something quieter.

@@28fabianz1 As of this moment still nothing. My neighbors still hate me and car’s about ready to go back into storage for the winter. I live in Chicago so there’s no driving your sports cars all year around up here. In storage it will sit until March. When spring comes around next year I’m guessing chances are I’ll probably just end up cutting off my SLP Loudmouth and welding on my old Flowmaster American Thunder cat back system that came with the car when I bought it. I’m hoping it won’t restrict the exhaust too much, but it has a muffler and it should give me the quiet down that I need.

I need to get a video uploaded to give perspective on the sound. Cold starts are very loud. Warmed up Idle isn’t too bad. Normal driving isn’t bothering to me. After 3k rpm though it is the loudest full exhaust I have ever had. Definitely not an exhaust if your neighbors are non car people.
@misterglock.4282
@misterglock.4282 Год назад
Yeah I’m mostly doing it for morning drives to work at 6 am.. also speeding the car to 40mph sounds like I’m going 100. I think my cheapest safest option is going with the straight muffler from magnaflow it’s not a resonator it’s an actual muffler that should quiet it down nicely.

I looked for you on Instagram to ask this question but can't find you there. So here goes. What is the trick to installing the opti-spark on a 1995 LT1
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 Год назад
It has been a half dozen years since I last replaced the opti spark on an LT1 but from what I remember it was pretty straight forward. Definitely have to remove the water pump and harmonic balancer and I believe the shaft drive has some sort of notch that only allows installation in one position so you don’t have to time it unless you had an internal failure in the motor such as a broken timing chain. There are 2 designs up to 94 and 95-97 make sure you have the correct one for your 95. If you need any more specifics let me know.
@punkinsgarageandpaint8299
@punkinsgarageandpaint8299 Год назад
@@curtrobinsongarage5452 mine is the 95. The opti is the one I took off but doesn't want to go on. I may buy anew one but I want to make sure I can get one on.
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 Год назад
@@punkinsgarageandpaint8299 from memory the early one has a splined drive with a double tooth for alignment. The later ones use a pin for alignment. I’ve always just taken the cover off the front of the optispark and turned the rotor to align either style as your sliding the unit in place. Every time I’ve ever been into one it was to replace a bad opti spark unit though. I have never tried reinstalling an old unit. Some of the newer styles also seal better to prevent moisture intrusion.

since noone said it, the system sans the muffler and tips are 409 stainless steel.
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 5 месяцев назад
At least in my opinion 409 isn’t a true stainless steel. It is labeled as such but its corrosion resistance properties are poor in high humidity climates and near the coasts around salt. To me 304 stainless is the only stainless that should be called such and marketed as stainless in exhaust. 409 is misleading and I wish exhaust companies would only use 304. Yes it costs more but worth it. Just wanted to clear that up and should have been more specific in my video.

I would've ordered this same kit for my SS but i didn't want to go from a 3" to a 2 1/2" what's the point of that?
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 Год назад
Honestly unless your over 500 HP this is better in my opinion when you run too big of pipe for the motor you usually get a bad pitch or quality sound. I’m definitely under that, but if you were over 500 HP then true dual 3” all the way back would be preferred. Personally for around 400-450 HP I prefer single 3” or dual 2.5 for the sound I prefer. On a side note on the C10 I’m building I’m doing dual 3” to an X-pipe then shortly after the X I’m necking down to dual 2.5 it’s something I’ve noticed some of the high horsepower factory cars are starting to run. It is around 400 HP as well.

Before you comment on that SLP resonator do some research on why it’s hollow. It’s not a fake muffler used to make people think you have a muffler. The crappy sounds go in and bounce around inside of it and it actually cancels those crappy sounds out leaving mostly lower tones especially when used in conjunction with a muffler. You will especially notice the change in sound when you cold start it and rev it up. Take it off your setup and rev it up. It will sound like junk. Do your research before giving an “informative” video
@curtrobinsongarage5452
@curtrobinsongarage5452 7 месяцев назад
You should take note that I was comparing that muffler to the exact same part number of exhaust I installed 3 years prior from the same manufacturer and the new one is of poorer quality and made cheaper, just like everything anymore. My conclusion still stands. If the price of parts go up I expect the quality to at least be the same. One more thing. You say that the sound will change. If you watched my previous videos you would know I was running that same setup with open headers for a few weeks. After I added the cat back system it did not change the sound or tone. It only quieted it a few decibels.
