Installing a support system before you cover your boat will better help your boat cover shed snow and water, and prevent the pooling of water. In this video, Matt shows you how to install a support system using a pole kit, sold by Transhield on Amazon, and by using a couple wooden 2x4s and some rope. If you follow the steps in this video you'll have an understanding of how to install a support system for your boat cover.
If you are looking for a boat support system for your pontoon or boat cover you can purchase this exact pole kit (4-pole kit) or the smaller 2-pole kit through the Transhield Amazon Store:

I've tried those poles before and they simply tip over. Very flimsy setup might hold up with an inch of snow, but a decent snowfall of 8-12 inches will be too heavy for this.

They aren't meant for snow. They are for rain. If you live in an area with 8"-12" of snowfall then you should be winterized with a solid frame and shrinkwrap.

I agree, rain or snow they are flimsy and tip over very easily although they do provide somewhat of a solution. I've watched at least 100 vids on this same subject and have yet to find the right solution for me.
