For the exam, the patient will be in a chair at the side of the bed, within reach of the call light. Just make sure you tell the patient "here is your call light if you need anything."

THANK YOU 4YOURCNA I PASSED COMPLETELY THANKS TO U GUYS CAUSE MY SCHOOL SUCKS AT TEACHING CLINICAL PORTION!!!!... only thing i really needed to work on was indirect care and during feeding i didnt ask if they wanted pudding or apple sauce of the two choices... i got use to the video only offering one if i remember correctly. EITHER WAY THANK YOU LOVE U GUYS 4YOURCNA THE BEST!!!!

Yes. The standard used to require returning the foot to the basin to rinse, but that is no longer required. The standard states, "Remove soap from foot including between toes?" but does not specify how that needs to be done. Good luck.

For the exam, you will just wash one foot and you can SAY that it is soaked for 5 - 10 min, you don't actually have to stand there for that amount of time. In real life, you can soak both feet together (if they fit) or get two basins. You probably won't have time to soak one foot, do foot care, then soak the other foot and do foot care...you will run out of time. Soak both for 5 min then clean, dry and lotion. Quick and easy! I apologize for this. The basin cleaning procedure was from a different video (without gloves) and spliced in. This video will be re-recorded shortly for continuity. The gloves will remain on as you clean the basin and you will use paper towel barriers between the cleaned basin and your soiled gloves. The gloves will be removed after you have cleaned your supplies, before you open the curtain or give the patient the call light (you don't want to contaminate them). Then wash your hands.

The faucet is always considered dirty and should NEVER be touched with clean hands, but it is ok to touch a dirty faucet with dirty hands (or dirty gloves). This does not violate any infection control principles. It is not necessary to use a paper towel every time you touch a faucet, only when your hands are clean. Good luck!

is each foot soaked 5-10 mins at a time or do you soak both feet for 5-10 as if this was in real life?

If you are going to clean both feet do you need to change the water after rinsing first foot?
