I need to defer to Daphne Moon on this one: My uncle was a political writer for one of those London tabloids. I can still remember his biggest scoop. My main question was: what did the other group die from? Like, you have to die from something. If the other group died more from cancer instead of cardiovascular, the conclusion might as well have been that intermittent fasting decreases the chance of cancer.

I've read the paper, and to be fair to the researchers they do say Time Restricted Eating was associated with higher CV death, but also say this does not mean it causes it. They point out the flaws in the research and say they need to have further research. The media spin is the issue IMO.
@Pajali
@Pajali 2 месяца назад
I agree. In most cases, the actual study explains the limitations of both the study and the results found, but the media (especially television media) often simplifies all those caveats down to a sound byte, losing all the nuance and leaving the audience wondering why science keeps disagreeing with itself. It’s not usually science disagreeing with itself; it’s usually loosely-related studies being reduced down to “X=good” and “X=bad” without including all the details that can affect the results. 😮‍💨
2 месяца назад
I dont know how this can be considered a propper research. Is 2 days of eating in a certain way considered a diet? I have days when I eat very little and days when I eat a lot. Making a study by recording 2 days of eating and considering it a died is just wack.

I don't believe everything I read (or I just don't care what they say), but I'm also not going to do my own research to learn the truth either. I don't do fasting, because I eat to fuel myself or to recover, and I work in shifts so it's harder to keep a strict routine with stuff like these, but I have still always believed that it works. I just can't put myself through it.

Hi Mark. I love your practical content and sense of humor. I never make RU-vid comments, and generally dislike unsolicited advice, but I do have one small suggestion to benefit the quality of your audio when recording in your office/garage. There is some lower midrange frequency buildup/echo when you are speaking, which is very common in a smaller room. I see you have the foam acoustic panels, but those unfortunately aren't effective for anything except very high frequencies. Broadband panels, which are thicker and made from industrial/acoustic grade insulation, would clean that frequency range up for you. GIK Acoustics makes panels that would fit the bill. You can also DIY them if you are handy. Hope that helps, and again, fantastic content, and sorry for the unsolicited suggestion :).

I like it and still do it sometime, but at a stage when I was younger I was doing it everyday and it almost became an eating disorder. Havent really been doing it since and I prefer the 3-4 meal a day approach. I had a burst appendix operation and since I havent really done it much, given that I am very sensitive to eating large quantity of food without feeling ill. This goes to show that nutrition becomes very personal and individual. Anyway, keep up the great work and have a nice day

Hi Mark, you hit the nail head-on on this one! This is a prime example of junk, sensationalist pseudoscience and goes to show how dangerous it is to blindly trust information simply because the people behind a given survey are 'scientists'. Your analysis of data, method, conclusions, sample size, etc. is bang-on and shows why it is so important that any scientific work is peer-reviewed before publication. Even after peer review there is good chance that errors remain why is why corrections are often issued in even the most high-ranking scientific journals. Keep up your great work.
