@Jose Garcia Did you completely cut out carbs? I start tomorrow, I but I don't know if I can cut out carbs competely but I know I can just eat the two meals a day without a problem.

The Tree - that’s just it, no one needs three meals a day from a nutritional or health perspective. You along with millions of others have been misled by government health guidelines and manufacturers promoting their processed c**p for example: cereals for breakfast. Follow Dr Fung, read his 3 books

Intermittent fasting- OMAD is my WAY of life - I’ve lost 72 lbs in 6 months and have maintained my previous high school weight. The ONLY people who say breakfast is the “most important meal of the day” is General Mills, Kellogg’s and Quaker Oats.

That’s awesome! I really want to try omad again but maybe lower my carb intake and up the fats so I am fuller longer. How did you go about it? Did you make sure to eat a certain amount of calories each meal or does it not matter since we are using up stored fat?

I’m turning 65 next week, and have battled the bulge my ENTIRE life! IF only I’d known how easy it was to a) lose weight, and b) keep it off, my life would have been different! However, I’ve bloody found out now, and have lost 43 pounds since March 06, 2023. I have attributed a bunch of my success to FASTING, learned here, on a two (or more) year old video!!! Now THAT’s saying something! Funny that Dr. Fung, and Ekberg (both on you tube), know more about our bodies and how to lose weight, than our doctors in the clinics we go too! Thank you! Dr. Fung, you have saved countless lives, including mine and my hubby’s! We can never thank you ENOUGH! ❤️❤️❤️

When I grew up, if I didn’t feel well, my mom would say “Eat something. You’ll feel better” This lead to my lifelong struggle with my weight. Then I read The Obesity Code. Fasting has been a total game changer for me. I’m currently at my lowest weight since I was 12 years old (I’m 66). I’ve been at my goal weight for almost 6 months and fasting has now become my lifestyle. I’ll never go back to eating the way I did before.

So as a growing teenager, you didn't have any issues with fasting? My family, including my 2 teenage daughters are all over weight but I'm afraid to encourage fasting because they're young. Did you do okay?

Kris jay. I would have them lower the carbs and try skipping snacks as a first step. I am not a Dr but feel kids eat too much junk. And that excess inflammation may not be good. It could be a short term tool for them

With Intermittent Fasting and a Low Carb diet I've lost over 70 pounds in the past year and I'm only a few pounds away from my ideal weight. I'm no longer Insulin Resistant, no longer need medication for high blood pressure, my joints no longer hurt, and I have a lot more energy.

CL Listing As soon as I started Intermittent Fasting I noticed the weight loss within a few days. The greatest loss was the first few days, but that's mostly water loss and only some fat loss. After a few weeks, I was losing about 2 pounds (almost 1 kg) per week and that stayed fairly consistent for several months.

@@kristamahon9338 well, I eat foods high in fat and potassium. I eat fatty meats and veggies. I don’t pay attention to low carb veggies. I eat them all. I eat meat/eggs/fish/everything. I brake it up in 2 meals a day in a 4 hour window. I just eat the whole 4 hours. And fast for 20 hours. It took time to do that. Most days I’ll do 18:6 and I’ll eat 2 meals plus snacks in between as many as I want I’m now 115lbs!!

I've been wondering about the relationship between addiction and fasting since I gave up sugar and processed carbs about 2 months ago. I don't crave sugary foods any longer and when I do eat natural carbs, like a potato, it doesn't set me off on a binge. In fact, those foods are not very appealing now.

Dr. Fung - I've lost 135 lbs. by Intermittent Fasting and frequently OMAD. I still need to lose significantly more and wanted you to know that your informational videos have been supporting and encouraging me. I am no longer injecting insulin 4x daily, which is the best achievement. Thank you, Dr. Fung.

I’m down 89 pounds by discovering fasting, and lowering carbohydrates significantly. I do alternate day fasting & never eat breakfast or after 6pm. It works.

Well this fad diet has helped me shed my weight. I was 310 pounds 6’2. I’m now 226 pounds. I would constantly read research on fasting and I would fall asleep watching videos like this one. I’ve tried other diets this one helped me breakthrough.

The one thing I noticed after starting to fast, was the amount of food I had been eating during the course of the day before fasting. It was astonishing to me. Now I eat omad 4-5 days a week and feel so much better!

True story. My daughter who is 13 suffers from hyper pigmentations, acne and overweight. Her doctor wanted her to lose weight but I didn’t want to change her diet, I just told her to do 16/8 fasting. She eats after 3pm until 8pm at the latest. It’s been only 3 weeks and she skin has cleared up significantly. Her acne cleared up and she skin tone brightened and even tone especially in her face. Weight wise she is losing a little bit but just from her skin it’s amazing.

I did i.f. and then omad lost 100 pounds from 2018 to 2019. Still in my skinny jeans. Now I eat when I am actually hungry. Freedom from food has been awesome. It was an old video from Dr Fung that got me into fasting.

Thank you Dr.Fong for sharing your incredible knowledge, I have read your books and this inspired me to try fasting to better my health and it worked!! I started fasting about 4 months ago and I have lost 21 pounds and the weight I have lost is not coming back.I started by doing 14 hours fasting I increased to 16 hours now I'm doing 18 to 19 hours fasting daily. except on weekends I do 14 hours because of my family. I try to have my meals with them. I alos do 24 hours weekly and 48 or 72 hours fasting once a month. My goal is to do one meal a day and 1 week fasting after the holidays. All this to better my health. I have been pre diabetic for 15 years now. So far my blood glucose levels went down by 5 points and my blood pressure has also gone down by 10 points. I am 50 year old and since I have been fasting I feel much healthier than before!! THANK YOU Dr.Fong!!

@@jane673 The most effective fasts are at least 24 hours, when the full benefits begin. Some recommend no more than five days, but it depends on how much you have to lose. I fasted up to 22 days. After the third day or so, it's easy. The sweet spot may be around seven. I found that I often "missed food" at around a week or 10 days. None of this is medical advice. Dr Fung's fasting book is outstanding (all his books are), and of course any doctor will tell you that you should not fast without medical supervision (I didn't have medical supervision.)

@@rxaliel we eat mostly beef. I make a roast on the weekends and we bake a Sam’s Club size package of bacon in the oven put into individual portion baggies and freeze, hamburger, tuna, eggs and Fage plain yogurt. Search Carnivore diet here on youtube.

@@kristamahon9338 keep carbs low as possible, if you are maintaining have higher fats, if you are trying to loose fat keep them lower. And just eat as much as you want until you are full. You'll probably need to work up to it if you haven't done it for a while

The Obesity Code was a complete game changer in my life. I have recommended the book no less than a hundred times. Lost over 50 lbs in 6 months. My family is doing it, my friends are doing it. It is so impactful and everyone is seeing the results. Truly amazing. Cannot say thank you enough for debunking the myths around food and how we approach eating. This really gave me the tools I needed on my weight loss journey. Side effect, no longer type 2 diabetic either. SO HAPPY!!!

Great to see Dr Jason Fung, an author of several best selling books on fasting, a qualified medical practitioner and someone with enormous experience telling people to fast, why they should fast, the history of fasting. If we realised the importance of his message their could be billions saved from the health budget all at little or no cost to the individual fasting.

And I was told that 6 x a day and the everything in moderation guff....I got Dr Fung's Fasting book on audio and I haven't looked back.... I have to keep it quiet however, as most peers and family members won't or don't understand....🙂 The 'everything in moderation' and 'breakfast is the best meal of the day' belief is very strong today...

I love your videos, Dr. Fung! I've been doing IF for about 5 months and I've lost 50 pounds, just another 10 to reach my target weight. The only thing you suggest that doesn't work for me is changing up my eating schedule . I get terribly irregular when I try to do that and it takes weeks to get things back on track. My body seems to REALLY prefer routine when it comes to eating, so that's what I stick to. I fast for 19 hrs every day and eat 2 small meals within my 5 hr window and I still try to work in a 36 hr fast once per month. In any case, I'm extremely happy with the results I've seen so far. In addition to the weight loss, my blood pressure and lipid profiles have greatly improved and I have infinitely more energy.

did IF for the last year... lost 50kg+ my kidneys function has improved from 72% filtration to over 90%, my insulin lv. has lowered form 118 to 72... happier...ill stick to this life style

Definitely not a fad, so many doing intermittent fasting speaking out with great results, I am one of them I will never go back to my old dietary habits. I'm 78 years old and have been on Atkins (very low carb) for 25 years now. Speaking from experience, I find it much easier going from very low carb to fasting. Jumping from an ice cream cake to fasting would probably be much harder. The real advantage of fasting is that it is even lower in carbs than a low carb diet. A high carb diet gives you major cravings. A very low carb diet greatly reduces your cravings. I can eat a meal, very high in fat and very low in carbs without fear of "triggering" my appetite. I've lost 40 LBS by doing OMAD and prolong fasting in the last 5 months...I am going to do another prolong fast starting today to lose another 4-5 pounds in the next few days. I absolutely love fasting because it gives me all these health benefits including mental clarity.

That’s awesome! I really want to try omad again but maybe lower my carb intake and up the fats so I am fuller longer. How did you go about it? Did you make sure to eat a certain amount of calories each meal or does it not matter since we are using up stored fat?

It's like most women's magazines. Half the articles show high calorie desserts and cheese covered foods. The rest of the magazine is women wearing sexy form fitting clothes and diet hints. Whole food plant based diets. No big secret. Eat as much as you want, exercise and you can avoid the sugary junk and wear great clothes.

Greetings from Singapore... I managed to lose 32kgs in 90 days through fasting and keto diet.. from 105kg to 72kg.. Waist from 38inch to now 31inch... My blood pressure is now normal at about 110 from previously 140s... Thank u Dr Jason Fung! That said, ur audio is much better now. You might want to set your White balance to 5600k for your videos to look warmer. :)

@@TheSamimakeup I did on average 48 hrs fast... some days 96 hours... but I ate pretty little.. maybe like some salmon and veg as a meal. No sweet drinks, zero carbs.. no rice, no noodles, no bread...

My ankles were swollen, and I had not been fasting I fell off the wheel... one day of going back to fasting, 18 hour fast, my ankles were totally back to normal, like a miracle almost... if you need "proof" your body will prove it to you. If you fall off, get back on even it takes baby steps

I agree with all this. I’m starting to skip breakfast and finding that I don’t have to spend as much money on groceries which are very expensive. Unfortunately whenever I want to do something good for me I have to keep it a secret…people are so unsupportive. I have a friend who says it’s bad to skip breakfast because it slows your metabolism and she will insist she’s right. If I tell my stepmom that I want to cut out sugar she tells me that the body needs sugar for energy. She even said that after I told her I am pre-diabetic. I really hate it because I am 49 years old…an obvious adult and yet people feel the need to tell me what to do while I am constantly disagreeing with them.

Dr Fung, I started intermittent fasting for lent, and also cutting out all junk food and going low carb, and for the 40+ days, I lost 22 lbs. I am now at the point where I am never really hungry during the fasting periods and can honestly possibly do alternate days fasting, but the 16-8 fasting works perfect for me. This will definitely become a life style and will definitely “change things up, to keep the body guessing.”

Hi Dr. Fung! I attended the IDM program at the Scarborough location from Nov 2016 to Jan 2017, with Dr. Nadia Pataguena. My goal was not weight loss but lowering my Hba1c. I am a TOFI, apparently and was completely shocked when I learned that I was pre-diabetic. Thanks to Dr. Pataguena, I learned how to deal with my blood sugar issues with keto and intermittent fasting. Thank you for your help.

You are a superb dr. Your lectures made me to change my life.After my delivery I was very fatty, became very vulgar. So very depressed. Tried so many diets, went to jim, did so many ayurvedic treatments. But everything was in vein. Lost only few kgs. Didnt shown any noticable change. After hearing your lectures, I followed fasting. Dr Fung, I'm a massive fan. I started the IF about 3 weeks ago, 16 - 18 hrs fasting is working well, I have not experienced hunger, but have managed to slim from 195 to 185 lbs.What I would say is that calorie control is not going to work with me, but with 3 weeks of experience IF seems workable.

THANK YOU Dr.Fong for sharing all your incredible knowledge with all of us, I have read your books and this inspired me to start fasting. I have been pre diabetic for 15 years now. I started doing 14 hours fasting daily during the week and increased to 16 hours now I do 18 -19 hours fasting except on weekends I do 14 hours fasting, I try to have meals with my family. I do 24 fasting once a week and 48 or 72 hours fasting once a month. So far in 4 months I have lost 21 pounds and lowered my blood glucose levels by 5 points and lower my blood pressure by 10 points. My goal is to start doing 1 meal a day and 1 week fasting right after the holidays..all this to better my health I am 50 years old and since I started fasting I feel so much better!

The Complete Guide to Fasting was my first book on my healing journey. I was never overweight or diabetic, but by 62 I acquired an autoimmune disease on top of my RA that I was diagnosed with in my 40's. After years on prednisone and methotrexate I am now 67 and have been off these drugs and symptoms free for 3 years.

Congratulations! It is impressive to hear that diseases that I'm learning in med-school as auto-immune chronic diseases that you have for life are so easily reversible with fasting and that junk diets have extremely large role in pathogenesis of those!

Well I just heard about this whole thing, about fasting. I’m watching the videos and everything and I’m going to start trying it today, today is March 9, 2021. I am 235 pounds 5 foot four. I have tried everything under the sun. I will lose some weight sometimes and then gain it all back +5. So we will see.

Watch his vids for encouragement!! U can do it. The thing is, if u feel sick just eat! And if u "fall" off wagon, just get back on. The first few times I did 16 and 18 hrs I struggled.it got easier!!

Thank god for Dr Fung! This is working! I have lost 30lbs so far- It is so easy! No shopping, planning or preparing “diet” meals, and it is free!!! It takes a bit to get “going” but it becomes a habit and as he says you don’t have to be strict about it. It is easy to change it up and keep it fresh!

Thank you Dr. Fung for making this short and sweet video. I have family and friends who think fasting is unsafe and a fad whereas eating 6-10 times a day or grazing is normal and healthy. They are all obese or over weight eating a high carb diet. I will send them this video. You are truly changing misguided attitudes in medicine.

80lb's, I always try and give people a visual idea of a loss, so 1lb of fat is equal to 2 blocks of butter. So 80lb's is 160 blocks of butter, what an achievement.

I’ve never been hungry in the morn so never ate breakfast. Was very thin. Unfortunately, I still thought I was fat. So, started eating breakfast to lose weight. Ugh. Now I am fat! Just started IF yesterday. I have no doubt it will work cause it’s just a natural way for me.

Dr Fung, your guidance has been the best life changing event for me. I have lost 40 lbs in 6 months and drastically improved all of my bio-markers. I am 48 years old and following IF and Keto diet changed my life. I can’t believe I am just discovering this channel and this amazing doctor. I have PCOS and oh Lord how easy is to gain weigh and how hard is to lose it ! I am a gym rat and I swear to God I have been eating almost better than JLo. But here it was my scale going up. Maybe my Cuban genes, maybe my PCOS, maybe my metabolic rate I JUST DONT KNOW !!!!
