I lost my sisters whose husbands were elders and po’s when I left in 1999. I was married for 21 years to an inactive abusive husband, I had to leave to save my life physically and mentally. Once I got out I saw the reality of the mind control. I was in counseling for four years once I got out.

God Bless Raymond Franz for having the courage to write this book.. he truly gave all of us a priceless gift. .i could not put this book down and i think it was something like 700 pages.. i got up early in the morning and stayed up late reading. i could not believe what i was reading but i knew it was true because Raymond Franz wrote so sincerely and honestly and candidly.. the detail is incredible.. i went on to read his 2nd book In Search of Christian Freedom which was equally good.. a beautiful soul who gave the gift that keeps on giving.. love to all
That's where my wife is. Cognitive Dissonance keeps her focused on the GB or what she calls the Faithful Slave. When you talk to her you find she cannot separate her relationship with Jesus or Jehovah without the GB! In other words she has put the Faithful Slave in place of Jesus. So she will tell you she does not want to lose her faith. Because her faith is not in what she cannot see, but in the now 9 men in NY. So it becomes a delima with her. I tell her you do not need imperfect Corporation from America to read and understand the bible. You can use what they write that is truth, but spit out the bones that are speculation. And that is where she is stuck. This Cognitive Dissonance permits her at times to shun me several days at a time thinking that will scare me. Or somehow teach me a lesson. And she does this because this is taught by all local Elders. You judge then you shun Doctrine. 😮 after years of seeing this in the Congregations it just becomes automatic for the majority of 8.5 million! So that's how they can drive that wedge in between family members 🤔
One of the interesting points about this interview is that Tony's personality and attitude totally wipes out all the negative adjectives that the WTS attaches to ex-JWs, in hopes that it will cause members to never listen to them. And, that alone is one of the things that helped me wake up. I would say to myself, these ex-JWs are so sincere and humble, they don't fit the harsh and negative description(s) that the WTS constantly and frequently reminds the flock of: bitter, haters of truth, an ax to grind, etc., etc. The WTS's description of apostates is simply unwarranted character assassination and they teach the flock to fear them. There's the word fear again, because all cults use fear mongering to control their cult members.
Great interview! Thank you Justin and Tony. It amazes me how when we reach out to the family that we shunned, they graciously accept our apology and give love. Real love! Unconditional love! 10 minutes in, and I'm reminded of my aunt and my uncle on my dad's side. I always saw them as "worldly," but they were still family, so there was this weird, uncomfortable "love" between us. When I left, I began to heal the relationship to the point of having a candid conversation with them, explaining things my dad never did or could even he was alive. I asked them for forgiveness, which they both gave me freely. I now feel truly blessed to have far better relationships with them.
Great video!! I’m interested in those who were the only ones in their family that came in & as a result, their “worldly” family shunned them. Then got df’ed, reinstated & then faded. And those who are now out, dealing with narcissist non jw family. It’s like the nightmare never ends!!! Are there any others out there like me? I’m eager to connect with those ones. I’m way older now, but literally have no support on either end. Isolation since a work accident nearly took me out, showed me a lot about people in general. The world is full of narcissist behavior. There are true friends outside the org, but like with anything, cognitive dissonance is everywhere. I’d love to have exjw friends who see things for what they are. Enjoyed hearing this interview. It’s always good to hear all the ways your life changes when you know what unconditional love really is. Shunning destroys families and that’s just not right.
So many things that you said struck a definite chord with me. First of all, none of us who are still believers left Jehovah, that's a fallacy. JWs do not have exclusivity with the one true God. He's God for all who believe in him. I started to wake-up in 2014 after I found out about the UN affiliation. From there it just snow-balled with the absurdity of the 'overlapping generations' doctrine, the 607 BCE-1914 doctrine, Jesus isn't our mediator doctrine, failed predictions, the history of the organization, etc., and of course reading Raymond Franz book, but I wouldn't say that I was fully awake until the last couple of years or so because it's a Long long process. Even after one has all their facts and ducks in a row and can methodically and intellectually go down the list of all the things that are wrong with the organization, there's still a little voice in ones head saying, 'what if I'm wrong' and they are right in spite of all the evidence? Is God blinding me? Weeding me out? Am I missing something? You ask yourself these questions a million times almost to the point of thinking you must be crazy. It has to be the "truth" it just has to be, until one day you finally realize it's not you, it's the organization. It is like a death to walk away from the organization when one wakes up. It's worse than losing a close family member in death because we were so certain it was the truth, most of us would have given our lives for it, I know I would have, and that is a bitter pill to swallow. Like you, I will never become involved with another religious church or organization. I'm a believer in spite of religion. I chose to stay on my own and do research as I cling to my faith in God and Jesus Christ without wavering. I have only made one ex-JW friend but we live in different countries, but I do see the attraction in regards to making ex-JW friends. We have so much in common and I'm certain that most of us still hold fast to our morals and ethics we had as a JW, so it makes them easier to trust than most. I still live my life as if I were a JW in that regard. For most of us it's not the morals and ethics we are leaving behind, or God, it's the religion, which we have deemed isn't the entire Truth. As there is a vast difference between some truth and the whole truth. 🧚PS Fortunately, my father, who was an elder, never abandoned his "worldly relatives" and neither did my mother. It would have been a travesty to do so as his relatives were just as ethical and moral as JWs. They were exceedingly decent people who believed in God. My mother's side was a bit more questionable in terms of some of their lifestyles, but they weren't criminals, and I will say they were entertaining and fun and there was never a dull moment. lol It would have been sad for me to miss out on experiencing all of them as a child. Some of my fondest memories was the time I spent with all of them. I feel bad for those who were denied the interaction with family. Our lives were difficult enough as children with all the weekly meetings (which I often enjoyed) and living up to our JW obligations at school, meaning standing out as different, meaning no flag salute, or standing for the National Anthem, or holiday activities. I'm not complaining because I still shun holidays, but JW children deserve a lot of credit for the bravery they have to endure, it's not easy. My parents became JWs when my mother was pregnant with me, so they never had to stand out as different while they were growing up at school. That's why I say that JW children need to be recognized for the sacrifices they make/made. End of rant. lol

For a religious group that prides itself in "love" being the dominant feature we now have 2 daughters shunning us because we" foolishly left God." Every word you said is so heart wrenching because we all experience the same treatment from family and so called friends. Praise our Lord Jesus for rescuing us all.

"Crisis of Conscience" really helped me to understand that the grubbering body is not inspired of god like JWs preach. That was one hurdle to overcome. I never looked back.
So so Happy for him!! This is the prayer that I have for my biological father! ….. and family on that side really! Such a wonderful human being but believing a lie! So glad that because I didn’t grow up in his home, my sister and I were never converted…though he continues to try… but at least we can have relationship because we were never JW’s. So though they believe that we are in a false or apostate religion (Christian)…we can still have a love relationship. I am yet praying!!🙏🏾
I felt alot of emotion waking up and how I treated people in the past . As witnesses your supposed to be raised humble but you gave a sense of superiority to others because your taught they are all gonna die except jws at Armageddon anyways. After waking up I feel so much regret but at least I’m fading at 33 and not wasting more life for watchtower . 😢

The loss of so many sheep becoming awakened, and no longer slaving for their publishing house, they've lost a great deal of revenue and must now beg for donations. After all, they still have to finish their movie studio and that's a costly adventure. Yes, they've lost a great deal of their slave labor due to folks waking up.

God is All Powerful and Loving. But when he saw his Son being murdered, Either he Chose not to protect his Son, Which in itself is Unloving Or he wasn't Able to help his Son, Which is Limited Power?! Doesn't sound Loving nor All Powerful to me. And If Blood must be spilt to forgive sin and God makes the Rules, then God Chose the spilling of blood to be the way to cover sin. In Fact he chose that His Only Begotten Son had to be The One to be murdered. In the American Just US system 😂 Everyone involved in a murder are guilty. If you helped move a body you're as guilty as the one that pulled the trigger (not pulling Roy Rogers horse Trigger but a trigger on a gun). So that would mean that God conspired in the Crossing of his Son.
