When the books fell around Daniel I was really happy for Louis. He broke out of Armand's manipulations and that was a great visual shorthand.

​@@fiqtopia3581 I don't remember if they shown buying it, but they did have many books in their house, and Lestat himself wasn't much of a reader according to Louis. This and considering that in NOLA they were living on Lestat's wealth and his love language being giving gifts might signify that he was the one who bought them.

@@fiqtopia3581S1 Episode 1, Lestat has Louis help to decorate the townhouse and made sure to build a huge Library with books knowing that Louis will eventually become his companion. Lestat had Louis pick all of his favorite things so he would be comfortable. Of course Louis did not know this at the time, he was still human.

I truly died laughing but also appreciating because he actually got Lestat down, that accent was on point!

Actually, Akasha's blood gave Lestat the ability to resist fire, so he couldn't be killed that way. As well as being invulnerable unless he offers himself willingly.

Yes I like that they reunite, grieve over Claudia, and don’t immediately get back together in this episode. I think if they got back together fully now that would feel rushed

He was his own companion because he dumped Armand. But Lestat and Louis were really always together. Just in different ways. Their last scene together here was somewhat taken from a scene in the 2nd book. It is when Lestat and Louis reunite after many years. In the books. Lestat was not with Louis and Claudia in Paris. Well not seen anyway. But the line Lestat says about Louis says all we ever need to know about these pair. ............. He basically said he always loved Louis and always will.

The rocks in Louis’s “zen garden” look like the rocks that were in his locked coffin. This episode was beautiful and I love Lestat/louis.

Maybe Armand would let them kill Louis so Lestat would be devastated, but I don't think he wanted Lestast. If he didn't love Louis, he wouldn't have endured his behavior for so long. Also, in the books, Armand is the one who saves Louis in the trial. So yes, he was in love with Louis, but not enough to save him that day.

Funnily enough, the Hannibal TV show definitely looks inspired by parts of Interview with the Vampire (the books)

Armand didn't distort Louis' memories of what did and didn't happen with Lestat; he also wasn't lying on purpose. He remembers some things differently than they happened because he doesn't want to accept some of the things he'd done and the choices he made. Armand only altered the memories that had to do with himself. I think Armand's thing is he'll do anything to save his ass in the moment and acts on whatever opportunity comes his way. He definitely didn't give a fuck about Claudia, though. I don't think he had anything personal against her exactly except that he didn't particularly want a stepchild in his relationship. She was just a problem for him so he removed it. When Louis became a problem, he removed him too. I think he just wants to belong to someone or something and he thought the coven was a more stable bet, then when the coven was going, he needed a new deal. He has no idea who he is outside of whatever role he's playing or relationship he's in. Which makes sense- he went from being a slave to a child prostitute to a servant/child bride to a cult member to a cult leader. People give him a new name, he can't even remember who he was before all that.

​@moonlily1 you're giving Armand way too much credit. It's quite clear Louis is unreliable because of his own issues. The only memory tampering done by Armand is the 73 interview stuff.

@@saahir18 No, that's what I said though, that Louis remembers some things wrong for reasons to do with himself. Armand has definitely fucked with him but Louis was already fucked up when he met him. And Louis wasn't a saint to Armand, either, though that excuses absolutely none of Armand's choices.

@@moonlily1 Just by messing with one memory forces the mind to readjust to create a new cohesion, a new narrative. Yeah Louis had issues from the get go. But as someone who specializes in working with people's subconscious mind, Armand most likely distorted Louis' perception of Lestat and his time with him, so in Louis's retelling of his time with Lestat, the narrative would've been skewed. Memory is not always accurate because it is reorganized and reframed by the person telling it, when they are telling it. And the story being told to Daniel is by someone who has had their mind warped for 7 decades.

@@saahir18 Do you honestly think that Louis would've stayed with anyone even remotely connected to the death of Claudia? Would anyone? If Armand was that powerful in mind warping Louis, who's to say he hadn't been doing that since the end of his coven. I think the shock of Louis choosing him - even if only to spite Lestat would've made him desperate to maintain his narrative...to maintain his relationship with Louis.

Omg I watched the movie after the finale and honestly no shade to Tom/Brad/Kirsten but it just doesn’t compare. The series is far superior. I love the story. Can’t wait til S3

@anomis-t2q he didn't say "akasha and enkil were the first vampires" we're not supposed to know who she is yet. We're just supposed to know that she's someone important and more powerful than armand.

Besides, we're not spoiling much, anyway. This series has a fascinating way of straying from the source material, while also staying true to it.

@@enchantedboy66 so many people have been demonizing Lestat and saying how awful he is. Now many of those people are changing their tune. We knew Lestat would never want Louis dead.

I think that was Claudia’s interpretation as well. We forget that Claudia was very volatile and unstable herself due to being made so young. Impulsive and also manipulative. She definitely exploited fractures in her parent’s relationship. She blamed Lestat not realizing Louis was the reason she was turned. Even before dying she asks him he is lying right. Louis denies and still won’t accept the truth. Lestat loved Claudia but she was breaking his relationship with his immortal beloved. Look back at episode 7 compared to the fight scene from season 1. In Louis’s version, when Les is dragging him by the neck he has no blood on him. His face is clear and undamaged. Yet when Lestat recounts in the play and Louis recounts Lestat’s version he is greatly injured. Blood dripping from his face and Louis even mentioned it. Lestat said he was holding back and trying not to harm him until he realized Louis was truly leaving him with Claudia and he snapped. It was his trigger and fear to be alone. He attacked Claudia because she was purposely trying to take Louis from him which started the fight not realizing that Louis was going to go until during the pause in the fight scene. Though we all have great empathy for Claudia, she was greatly manipulative and she manipulated Louis against Lestat. Louis had no plans to kill Lestat until Claudia planned it. Clearly Lestat loved her even in Magnus lair he wasn’t just thinking but grieving her.

Those Who Must Be Kept are on the new character list for season 3. I can't wait to see it as well. The Devils Minion relationship has been said to be coming too!

Yeah but Lestat in the movie has no back story, no real complexity etc. He's just the bad guy - as far as I can remember. Plus Tom's performance compared to Sam's isn't half as good
