To estimate seating depth adjustments keep in mind that a full turn of the seating adjuster will decrease or increase the seating depth by about .036”. Found this info elsewhere but it was calculated based on the thread pitch if the adjuster. It works pretty good for me.
Thanks for the video, it is just what I was looking for. My only input would be to use the correct size wrench to tighten the nut down instead of pliers.
I drill out the primer pocket so i can reset the bullet depth if i go to far (from the back) somthing i started doing when i was modifying .223 to take .209 primers to shoot pellets out of my bolt gun...
commenting on a 6 yr old video, anyways majority of comments were regarding lack of instruction on crimping. As was already said there is an additional video that describes that. This format also follows the Speer reloading manual, number 13, step 8 bullet seating, and then step nine, crimping (optional) found on pages 77-80.

In the beginning, you backed off the taper crimp one full turn and said "temporarily". Where in the process do you go back and add the taper crimp function?
So I saw another video on seating depth and the guy said he never goes off overall length, but for precision. So would this method still be okay to use if I’m not horribly worried about precision. Mainly for range ammo?

Thought I missed something about how to adjust the die to get the proper crimp. I see several others also noticed you didn't address this part of the process.
He left out the ability to crimp once desired depth is achieved. Back the seater stem up a few turns up, lower the case body till it meets case mouth, make a small turn in by hand about half as much like you are caming over to resize. Check your crimp a few thou is all ya need. Bring the seater stem back down to meet the tip of the bullet. That's it lock your two nuts now you are sizing and crimping in one step.
Great video. I am having length issues with a Hornady 308 win seating die from their American Custom 2 die set series. - not impressed with the spots of rust on both seating and decapper dies, scant instructions. It is crushing cases accordion style. The setup doesn't jive with all the other seating dies I've used. With the ram at top of of it's throw you cannot turn the seater down enough to meet it. With a 308 shell mounted there is about 1/2" of exposed casing without wall support. So although I can control the seating dept, I have no way of knowing it the case wal was distorted. No one has the time to measure each case. Just use a seater that works, like a LEE. Just saying. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm thinking there are incorrect components. Hornady's # 546358. @@TheCBD35 Yes, and now I see that the seating/decapping die would have already addressed the neck issues. Seating depth is not a problem once that's understood. Other proprietary designs show total case support and that was a bit confusing. Nobody wants to make errors reloading 308s. Thanks
