Introducing our newest mouthpieces: LOTUS TurboWood!
How does a TurboWood mouthpiece perform?
* When you play soft, the tone is even warmer & sweeter.
* When you play loud, it’s even LOUDER & meaner.
* There is noticeably more headroom to play louder than on the same mouthpiece in Brass, Bronze or Nickel Silver. In other words, TurboWood has a higher “Max capacity” of volume output.
Adam refers to this extra volume as “Beast Mode!”
Great for:
* Playing in extreme temperatures, such as outside gigs in the winter. The wood never feels cold on your lips even in an extremely cold climate.
* Players who are looking for the warmest tone possible.
* Players who want a higher maximum volume capacity.
Not so good for:
* Players who don’t have a well-developed control of their airstream. The same effect that makes the tone warmer and sweeter when you play softly can diffuse the sound and make articulations too fluffy or undefined for beginners or intermediate players.
* If you have a diffuse tone quality and want it to be more “centered”, you’ll likely be better off with a mouthpiece made in Brass, Bronze or Nickel Silver.
* Not many classical players have chosen a TurboWood mouthpiece for traditional Classical repertoire so far. However, we’d be happy to be proven otherwise!

Wood vibrates easier than metal... maybe that’s why it has more dynamic range. Very interesting. That young player very talented btw.

When does the Lotus Wood trumpet come out? Adam and this other young man could make a garden hose sound good.

They're out now! And yes, great players often can make anything sound good. But some gear has a significantly higher max potential, and a higher degree of comfort while doing it. /Henrik

Is there a reason for such a high prize on the turbo wood?
@lotustrumpets6739
@lotustrumpets6739 Год назад
Yes, the wood is a very expensive material that's limited in availability. Also, the process of machining them takes significantly longer and include many more steps compared to making a normal Brass mouthpiece, for example.

It sounds like... the wood a bit warmer and a bit less volume... and a bit less “punch” in the attack. Am I right?
@stupoo

More volume and more attack I thought
@cmorales5

@@stupoo maybe my perception is incorrect.... I like the idea of using woods but metal isn’t affected by humidity and maintenance might be a problem with wood...and durability should be better for metal.

I was in person for this video and I have also heard Ashlin Parker play his wood mouthpiece in person. You can have punch when you want but the dynamic color you have on this mouthpiece is HUGE if you play it your presence WILL be heard. This thing does have a huge amount of resonance behind it and definitely a weapon that should be inspected by the government because it gives a lot of power.

@@cmorales5 We use an extremely dense type of wood that is much less prone to the usual wear and dirt related to wooden products. Durability and scratch-resistance are highly increased thanks to complete pore closure. How does the TurboWood perform? It's warmer/richer sounding when you play soft, and has the potential to play even louder when you step on the gas. The ceiling for maximum sound output is increased.
