@@DulceSeekerlook at how long Dahm has been working on it. Changing it constantly. Always back to the drawing board. What this Rob is saying that it makes sense to just leave it stock and get something of equal performance. There ain’t nothing wrong with modding it but you always have that what if in the back of your head.
I don’t know man….I drove my highly modded single turbo 2JZGTE Mk3 Supra from Michigan to NYC with no issues (except for a fuel line letting go, of which I fixed on the side of a NJ road and got back up a running). Other than that, no issues; ran strong. Then again, I built the car myself….which I trust.
Single it. Less to go wrong. More reliable. I love twins, but it’s just a lot of heat and a lot of moving parts. Not to mention the routing for the waste gates. Got guys running 70 trims turbos making the same as what we did on GT47-80s and 88s. Until we went full tilt and spray to build boost.
Well, as far as test & tunes go, Atco Raceway is now closed too. So the ONLY drag strip in NJ now is Island Dragway. So, if that place is closed too, or you can’t go there, unless you’re heading up to the Poconos in PA, good luck getting to another one!
I know you are kinda all over the Supra game, but if you GC’ed this build like you did your house build trying to save a penny to cost yourself a quarter later, than there your go.
A beautiful car. When I was a youngster (17) I had a 1972 Toyota celiac ST. Man I loved that car and yes I drove that car till it went for hot rod parts. Mainly the dash.
I understand that modified vehicles are less reliable. That's a given. But, at the same time, shops have been modifying and tuning these cars for more than 2 decades. There's no excuse for not getting it right by now.
Its crazy that you made similar HP at 16 lbs of boost as I do with bolt ons minus cam; and your engine alone is worth more than my current car, engine upgrades, aero upgrades, and last 2 cars combined (one of which was a GT-ST Skyline). My current car is still under warranty.
