If people keep in shape and move they get less injured and less ill so it is a huge return to NHS, clever and very good idea. Spreading the idea of moving all the times and stay fit it's good anyway.
I like how she's talking slowly and clearly & saying "it's ok, if you can't" like she understands that some of the viewers are here for the first time & they're not used to working out. When can we see more of these lessons?
Super instructors! Coming back to Pilates after two yr gap. More effective than the instruction i paid for for 10 years! Obviously I do not receive the personal feedback but the pace is great and the exercises are sufficiently challenging. Well done NHS!
These are all excellent exercises and very well presented and explained by the lady. I've been doing these for years and they keep you flexible and fit . Give them a try out by stretching as far as you're able to start with and then going further when you can.
Hi Sam, sorry, I have been following your videos, did not comment, have been doing for the past 5 or 6 months, very educational and supportive. Love your simple, clear instructions and bite size practice. Thank you very much for sharing your skills, with me and the World around and God Bless you for your kindness. Scarlet xxxx
Great classes Thank you! I hurt my back 4 years ago now I slipped 3 discs and couldn’t move for a month until it got a little easier even putting socks on was awkward... I like Pilates as it’s great for strengthening...
Thank you for The reintroduction back to Pilates . I started yesterday with different videos and have had quiet bad back pain after . Understanding the posture is very important .
Liked and enjoyed the class. Thank you! I’d recommend to read and watch videos about pilates before trying it out or you’ll feel lost and end up its way too fast for you:)
Very clear -hoping to return to pilates after injuries last year. and closure of classes. Recognised all the exercises, which does help, so the mat will be out this evening
Ah as soon as I read the introduction on the screen about Pilates being for people who can easily get on and off the floor. I struggle with that. I heard about Pilates via a wellbeing poster. Now I see it won't be for me. I'll continue on with Qigong that I learned from a pain management programme. I've subscribed to your channel to see what other content you'll upload. Thanks for all that you do.
Thank you. I was able to cast this vid to the big screen -- almost like having you in the room! I have malformed feet, so when lifting off the knees with the toes, only my big toes are trying to lift. Any modifications for this? Thanks again. This was 30 minutes well spent, and I will be back. I just got a floor mat for my birthday, with the promise of regular use!!
I do Like this I do it after I’ve done a joe wicks senior low impact work out. I do find it’s a little hard in my wrists so I come out of the stance while she’s chatting away.
Just discovered this on a RU-vid search. I have cervical spondylosis and am concerned that right at the beginning it involves stretching your neck backwards which I’ve been told not to do. How can I get around this?
Hi Maggie, as this exercise video is not tailored to any specific condition, characteristic or person, we recommend that before following and undertaking the exercises in this video, you should consult with a health professional and/or your GP if you: consider it necessary; have any concerns about your health; are not sure whether the exercises are suitable; have any pre-existing health problems, injuries, or any current symptoms.
I need some sort of handout with some pictures and descriptions. It's too fast in places and to slow in others. If you have never done pilates this is not very good from the NHS
Thanks for the feedback. For these introductory videos Sam is trying to give as much information as possible. The more advanced videos are less talking and more follow along.
This is most definitely NOT an introduction to Pilates. Recovering from a slipped disc and recommended to try pilates, I can do at best 20% of these exercises. These are pretty much impossible if you are even slightly overweight. Expected better from an NHS video tbh
Great exercises but she goes way too fast. It's impossible to follow and concentrate on breathing or posture. Would be great If she could stay off the coffee and try and record it again
Not a great representation of Pilates practise....as an NHS pilates video, it would be better to only show safe movement. There are frequent examples in this video of positions which are pulling on joints (rather than safely stretching muscle) and are unsafe for the spine shame
