Raman...if it was a special right triangle such as a 30-60-90 or 45-45-90...you would be able to recognize it as such and identify the angle...also if it is one of the common angles from the unit circle you could easily identify it....but if the angle was 27.35 degrees without a calculator to help you that is a good question....

If we need both unknown angles, do we calculate using inverse trig functions or do we just subtract the 1st calculated angle from 90 ?

Alan, Once you find one of the Acute angles in the right triangle subtract from 90 to find the other angle.

Make sure to put your calculator in degree mode otherwise it won’t work.

When I plug the first example into my calculator, I get .67. How did you get 38.7?

I had my calculator set in degree mode. You must have yours set in radian mode. So it depends on whether you want to solve for the angle in degree or in radians. For this example I thought it would make more sense for most students if I solved for the angle in terms of degrees. Hope that clears that up for you.

I switched it to degree. Do you think it is better to keep it on Degree when I take the test? When would I need to use Radians?

Your teacher and/or the problem will specify whether to answer in degrees or radians.

Meh, as a programmer all I am going to say is just add or subtract 180 from it, now can we please move on to decimal circles. I'm probably wrong but this will all be fixed by the stage I unit test my code.......
