for computers yes, ios was a crap update, it was like they where trying to copy android, and simply released update after update just for the sake of having updates, but never fixing the huge bugs the phone had. been ok so far since OS8, so long as they don;t do like they did with OS 8 I think we will be ok. I am not liking the looks of os11 however. i think I will avoid updating for as long as possible
As an iPhone 5 user, thank you so much for creating this video! I can imagine how difficult it was to make and to keep those firmwares. I'm now on iOS 10.1.1 (clean install), and the speed pleasantly surprised me! I'm glad to have skipped 10.0x
EverythingApplePro Hey dude, I currently have the IPhone 5s with iOS 10 Beta 8 still, I haven't updated to the main iOS 10. On my Software Update it's saying I can update to iOS 10.1 beta, shall I do it? Will it mess my phone up? Or is it only based for iPhone 7? Please let us know cheers it's really important, keep up the awesome videos.
Very good video, great comparisons, extremely well assembled. Very professional presentation. One thing to keep in mind though: the network based tests have a lot of external factors influencing them. That's okay if you capture multiple samples and report the average. But for the weather app for instance, you seemed to have done the test only once, so it's hard to know if the slowest devices performed slower due to the network (your local wifi, your ISP, apple servers themselves having different reponse times per request, etc) or the IOS version itself.
One very important point: the design of the music app before the flat design was sooo much better. And it was the best on my oldest iPod touch (1G) with only iOS 3
I dont use other things, than just my own music. Why are the tabs uncustomizable and why i everything apple music (too expensive I dont use it)? I just want to listen to my music. And its unpractical.
Apple redesigned the iOS 10 music app because a lot of people were complaining about how slow, unresponsive, and clunky it was. I don't know what you guys are on about but I love the iOS 10 music app.
FlameNGames Bur it wasn't slow and clunky.. and I'm using an iPhone 5. I never had any issues with it personally I find the iOS 10 music app to be wayyy slower and clunkier in just about every way.
Reupload Kanal I'm saying this because when apple launched iOS 10 beta versions I installed one of them but when I degraded...I totally lost my all data because they said the backup version is too old to run on your device....but thanks for your advice..once I got confirmed I will surely degrade.. and see what happens :)
We NEED a setting to apply an iOS 6 classic theme! I miss the old icons! I miss the black fabric folders! I miss the old multitasking menu/media control panel! I miss the overall roughness of it.
Same! It just felt so finely crafted, like someone really put work into making the experience enjoyable. I still like iOS but it doesn't really evoke that feeling anymore :(
Even though Apple does not support downgrading at all, I think it would be a good idea if they sign the latest iOS software for each major update so the users could go back to at least to the previous version of iOS if not even more. Yes, restoring from backups after downgrading could be problematic but this would be for advanced users anyway and they would be warned by iTunes before to do so. The ultimate choice should be on the users not on a manufacturer. What are your thoughts on this?
Sagar Udar I do too, I've not updated to iOS 10 because I feel worried about the performance, I mean, one of the most important things I have an iPhone is because of the daily fluency
Sagar Udar Search for a RU-vid channel called iAppleBytes: it has speed tests of every single iOS release on iPhone 4s up to 6s you should find what you're looking for.
You should do an iOS test but with the devices that they debuted with. Optimized iOS for their respective devices should make an interesting comparison. Example: iPhone 5 - iOS 6, iPhone 5s - iOS 7, iPhone 6 - iOS 8... etc
The best version of iOS is The classics : iPhone OS 1,2,3 The 1st redesign : iOS 5 (iOS 4 was bad, iOS 6 introduced crappy Apple Maps) The modern ones: iOS 7 and 8 (iOS 9 was crappy) Really not sure about the iOS 10/11/12 madness, but the iOS 10.3.3 was kinda ok on my Mini 4 before i sold it lol
Actually compared today my 4S on 6.1.3 and my 5 on 8.4.1. Having a really good connection to internet the response time of Siri was nearly identical. So it looks like there was an improvement for Siri in ios 6.1.3 compared to 6.0.1. And by the way, you should get an iPhone 5 on ios 6.1.4 and only then compare it with the other (final) versions of ios.
I wish Apple would focus almost purely on software performance and efficiency next big update. A couple of other features of coarse but mostly optimizing the OS to run perfectly across the board from iPhone 6 and up. Work out all the kinks and animation jutter. That'd be really nice. It seems iOS runs perfectly on the latest 2 models and the rest start to show slight signs of age.
***** Yeah thats one thing. Just saying ive maneged to get iOS 6 on my iPhone 4s wich it was on its latest frimeware so yeah, its possible but very i mean VERY hard to do it
oliver green you can buy a 4th generation iPod the latest iOS was iOS 6.1.6 iOS 7 wasn’t support on iPod touch 4th generation the later is iOS 6 so you could buy a iPod touch 4th gen on eBay and you’ll have iOS 6
I Still have the iPhone 5 Black 64Gb and I got it the release date in 2O12 and Ive updated to iOS 10.1 and really the only issues with the update making it slow is just starting it up theres no lag or anything Ive jad this phone for 4 years and I love it still so much ❤❤❤ .... Its my baby 😂👌📱.
Obviously a newer software on older hardware is gonna be slower. The iPhone 5 wasn't made for all the new features in iOS 10, of course it's gonna be slower.
I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6, and it's incredible. Except some app functions like boomerang/stories/direct photos are not available on instagram. No uber app, etc. But its still blazingly fast
I still love the look and feel of iOS 6 much more than the new "modern" interface. Mainly because my first phone was the iPhone 3GS, but also because the new interface looks like it was made by preschoolers. iOS 6 had a really cool bubble effect and gave it some depth. It also looked more polished, and more interesting. The new interface looks all flat and boring.
Next time think about people who doesn't have good internet connection and allow low quality video resolution, i stuggled so much just to watch this 6:36 minutes video and the lower it can get is 1080p
Everybody is like oh I miss iOS 6, now I hate iOS 10, blah blah blah. Keep in mind he used an iPhone 5 which is somewhat old. The newer the software version on a older device, the slower it will make it. With a lot of stuff updating, some things may take more time to load on older devices because they weren't made to handle that at lightning speed.
